In the wake of Ohio's adoption of the "constitutional carry" law on June 13, 2022, a recent study by the Center for Justice Research, in collaboration with the office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Bowling Green State University, sheds light on the positive impact it had on gun crime in the state.
This significant legislative change marked Ohio as the 23rd state to permit citizens to carry concealed weapons without a permit.
The study, conducted over the span of two years from June 2021 to June 2023, focused on the relationship between permitless carry and firearm-related crimes in Ohio's eight most populous cities.
The findings revealed a noteworthy decrease in gun-related crimes in six out of the eight cities, providing valuable insights into the efficacy of the constitutional carry law.
Director of the Center for Justice Research, Melissa Burek, Ph.D. in criminal justice, spearheaded the research efforts.
Contrary to concerns raised by mayors of large cities attributing increased crime to the change in state law, the study emphasizes that the constitutional carry law is not the root cause of the issue.
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost underscored the importance of focusing efforts on addressing criminals responsible for gun violence rather than penalizing responsible Ohioans exercising their Second Amendment rights.
Specifically, the study highlighted significant decreases in firearm-related crimes in cities such as Akron, Columbus, and Toledo, as well as an overall reduction across all eight cities combined.
Parma experienced the most substantial decline, with a 22% decrease in gun crime, followed by Akron and Toledo, each witnessing an 18% drop.
While Dayton and Cincinnati saw modest increases of 6% and 5%, respectively, the overall trend showcased a positive impact of the constitutional carry law in reducing gun-related incidents in Ohio.

Don't forget more people. That makes the 2020 number technically even lower. Violent crime peaked worldwide in 1997. Violent crime now worldwide is HALF what it was in 1997. If you account for the fact that we have nearly twice as many people in the world now, that makes the difference of half, exponential. We are having half the violence while having twice the people. I remember in middle school only 8 or 9 years ago having a few days in PE where we shot bows at targets, of course with lighter draw weight and blunter tips than real arrows, and nobody got hurt at any point because the teachers made sure we knew what we were doing and to not do unsafe things.

People who support constitutional carry think everyone is the same as they are: reasonable people who mostly just want to be left alone, but also want a plan B that doesn't involve the words "run, hide, die."
People who oppose firearm ownership think everyone is the same as they are: unreasonable, emotional, violent psychopaths prone to violent outbursts with no ability to control themselves when things aren't going perfectly well for them, and the fact they think they're going to get shot by a law-abiding civilian is actually a bit of a self-report.
The really funny part is, if you *allow* anyone to carry a weapon, both of these groups tend to self-police. The reasonable people will be armed, because they want to be able to protect themselves and others. The unreasonable people won't carry a weapon, because they're actually cripplingly terrified they'll use it on themselves first.

Again, given the right to keep and bear arms, which "shall not be infringed", why would the question ever even have to be brought up as to whether or not teachers, or any American citizen in any form of employment, should be 'allowed' or 'not allowed' to carry? It's a nonsense question. In my view, the one and only answer ever required to the bewildering question as to whether or not a given person should be 'allowed' to carry is 'The second amendment' - period.
Honestly, I eternally fail to see what is the basis for the endless disagreement between the pro-second amendment people and the 'anti-gunners'. The second amendment was installed in the bill of rights for reasons which were valid at their inception and are equally valid today. Is there an issue with violence, and gun-violence in the country? The answer is, and shall forever be, "yes". There will always be humans among the population who are of a criminal nature and who will do criminal, even violent/murderous things. This is but one of the reasons for the existence of this amendment - so that right thinking, law-abiding citizens, in good standing, may adequately defend themselves from not only those criminals who would seek to rob, harm, or murder them, but also so that 'the people' may adequately (and preferably with great dominance) defeat a tyrannical governemnt should one arise. I hold these truths to be self evident, as I would expect any right thinking person to do. Good luck, America.

The second amendment to the US constitution is written rather clearly and concisely, in my opinion. As such, it is my interpretation that this right spells out in crystal clear language that American citizens have the right to "keep and bear arms".....and that that right "shall not be infringed". That being said, how is it that some states, or any states in the union, imagine that they have the authority to limit, control, or restrict gun ownership in any way, shape, or form? Honestly. Anyone?? Anyone??

    • @Lightning613
      @Lightning613 4 місяці тому

@@seanjohnson386 Yes. It is written quite clearly. However, those who choose to go all-in on Marxist doctrines seek ways to undermine laws and twist language to suite their preferred outcomes.
The DEMs adhere to the basic Marxist twist on law: “Apply the law to one’s enemies and interpret the law for one’s friends.” (Paraphrased)
That is why the DEMs have always fought to keep Constitutionalist judges out of the judiciary. That way by having someone willing to re-interpret the law based on political whims, they can keep changing the application and outcome of any law based on their current wishes. People who do not want an armed society sure as hell do not want an armed society that is not only safely handling, but proficient in the use of weapons. They need people, especially children, to have accidents. They need people to fail at effectively stopping crime due to poor training. They need the government to not only have an advantage in weaponry, but training as well. They need all of this to justify continued restrictions on weapons.
If firearm safety was put into schools and accidents went down because people know how to safely handle weapons, it hurts the anti-gun agenda.
If people had enough training to effectively thwart crime with their personal weapons, it hurts the anti-gun agenda.
If people start taking their safety seriously into their own hands and become successful, it hurts the anti-gun agenda.
That is why they are against policies that encourage safety and deter crime. Because should pro-gun policies succeed at lowing accidents and deterring crime, anti-gun agendas would inevitably fail.
That is why they do things that hinder the average person from being not only safe, but proficient with their weapons. They don't want gun owners to be safe and successful because it destroys the anti-gun agenda.
It's sad that some would put an unconstitutional agenda over safety and effective solutions, but that is the reality of anti-gun politics.
They say that people should get training, but then make getting training as hard and expensive as possible. They say they only want to ban, "assault weapons," but I guarantee that they won't stop until you're being raided by the ATF over an unregistered muzzleloader that your neighbor snitched on you for.
They want a disarmed society, and they start with the lowest hanging fruit, piece by piece and inch by inch.
While I am not familiar with the time, I would not be surprised if when automatic weapons became more and more heavily regulated to the effect of a ban for the average citizen that some may have been like, "What if they don't stop at just automatics/machine guns?" Then the anti-gun side was like, "Oh, you're just making a slippery slope argument. We're only going after automatics/machine guns." Now here we are, arguing over whether or not we can even have semi-automatics and concealed carry even with permits.
History shows that gun control, if given an inch, will attempt to go the mile and then some. It's not a slippery slope. A sizable number of people actually do want total disarmament. Given that fact, there is no reason to expect that those same people will stop with just "assault weapons" or "common sense gun reform." That's just the cake they use to try to get rino fudds and those in the middle on the fence to swallow the blue pill known as gun control.

1.5 years later, look at what happened. Not only has crime gone down, but their other concern, that "unqualified" people would be carrying and be dangerous without training, didn't pan out. What happened is that more people, now feeling a connection to their right and thus taking it seriously, instead of feeling it was a command from on-high, started getting more training than they would otherwise have gotten. So it actually has caused _more_ training than people would have gotten had they been forced to.

I have never held or shot a handgun in my life thanks to New York making it really long and difficult to even to get just a pistol permit, let alone a concealed carry license. So I just stick with long guns.

Mr. Noir please help us here in Minnesota, I am a law abiding citizen who has a concealed carry permit, my wife and son also have their permits, it is alarming that not only is The Mall Of America a gun free zone but what’s worse is they now have firearm and ammunition detection K9’s there, this is absolutely an infringement good sir and I am outraged

I don’t know if you’ll see this in the sea of comments man, but I’m going to put it out there.
I found one of your videos in 2020 discussing gun laws. At that point in my life, I was on the other side of the fence when it came to firearms and gun control. They had never made sense to me; and I never imagined I’d support 2A, let alone own a firearm.
I watched one video. You made good points. I watched another. Ended up going down a rabbit hole and realized my lack of education on the subject was the issue. You changed my mind. Found your video on the SR9, got the SR22 as my first pistol in 2021, (wanted smaller cal for practice and price per round was cheaper) eventually worked my way up to the AR platform. I sit here now with the knowledge I’ve gained by listening to the other side for a change.
Just know, when it feels like nobody on the other side is listening. You changed my mind, and I’m grateful for it.

Funny how my CPL (WA concealed pistol license) has had zero impact on my competency as a shooter, or responsibility as an individual. My training was watching Paul Harrell videos, as well as the US Army Marksmanship Unit's videos, then applying what I learned at the range. I have never had formal training in guns, but I've built my own rifle without a kit, and I reload my own ammo (nobody taught me how to handle explosives; just use common sense and read your reloading manual).
I'm a certified range safety officer (RSO), and that just means I received 2 days of training to learn how to open/close and operate/maintain the shooting facility, as well as how to treat gunshot wounds and rattlesnake bites. People always assume RSOs are trained in firearms, but our training is entirely focused on making sure people are shooting safely and using range approved ammo.
I know for a fact I can shoot a man-sized target out to 1,000 yards, and again, my "training" is just independent study, then applying what I learned.
I think the reason anti-gun people insist on this credentialism bullshit where you need to "prove yourself" is because they themselves do not understand that independent study is a thing, and they are projecting, assuming that because they are incompetent, so must everyone else be incompetent unless some government bureaucrat (who's likely never used a gun) give them a piece of paper saying otherwise. It's the college idiot, the mindset that you couldn't possibly know something unless you took institutional classes for it. It's the mindset of stupid people incapable of and unwilling to learn independently. They never learned to learn, so they don't understand how someone like me is more qualified to have a concealed firearm than your typical police officer whom likely has no idea how to service their firearm, and likely only shoots when it's mandatory of them to qualify.
The most embarrassing thing I've seen at a gun range was when I was visiting my friend in Chicago, and we went to the shooting range. The guy in the stall next to us was an off-duty cop, and he experienced a malfunction (double-feed). he was struggling to clear it, and i could hear his elbows whacking the divider, so I peeked around to see what was going on. I showed him how to clear it (he didn't know you're supposed to drop the mag), and after thanking me, we got to chatting, which is how I learned he was a cop. He got real uneasy when he learned I'm from out of state and didn't have a FOIA card, because he saw me carrying one of my buddy's gun cases when we went past the stall, and he was like, "That's illegal! You don't have a FOID card! Out-of-state residents can't transport firearms!" I told him to chill, that I was a RSO. His tune immediately changed, and thought I was a firearms expert or something. SMH.
