    I'm going to miss the Trop. It was our favorite place to stay. The pool area was absolutely beautiful and relaxing. I'll be glad when the sports era of Vegas is over in 5 or 10 years.

    Oh, the crazy stories that are hidden inside this hotel. Back in the mid 90’s I landed 3 Royals on the same video poker machine in two hours……a memory I will never forget.

    Very sad to see the Trop go - such a landmark on the south end of the Strip.
    I made sure we took a good long last look at it when we there in September/23.
    I would have preferred if they completely renovated or put up a new hotel & casino . Not thrilled with it being replaced with a sports stadium.
    I saw the Folies Bergere on one of my earlier trips to Vegas. It was the first Vegas show I had ever seen and remains a fond memory of the Tropicana.
    A shame that they have allowed the property to deteriorate and not given her the proper send off she deserved.
    I hope they do something to preserve the stained glass ceiling.
    Cheers

    I'm still a teenager (soon to be in my 20s) and grew up going to Vegas as a kid and had a fascination with the hotels, but now I'm resentful of the fact I never got to see the inside of the Trop in person 😭 I was last in Vegas in the Summer of 22 and didn't realize at that time that was my last chance to see the tropicana ugh!!
    Also random but I remember watching videos when I was little and the Tropicana had just been renovated, and I won't lie, it doesn't look as old as the Riviera did when it got imploded (in my opinion at least) I really think the last renovation of the Trop they did was a solid one that held up well to the end ;w;

    I've only been to the Trop once, in 2007. I remember reading on the internet that it was on the "Las Vegas Death Watch" list, even back then. When I was there, it was in pretty bad shape. It appears that some work has been done since 2007. I'm a nostalgic guy, I like old buildings and old businesses. I hate to see the Trop close forever. My grandfather was friends with one of the original owners.... In fact, I think he was in business (in a different business) with one of the original owners of the Trop. My mom and dad traveled to las Vegas several times back in the late 60's - early 70's and they always had complimentary rooms at the Trop because of the connection between grandpa and one of the Trop owners. The good old days....

    So sad to see the Trop go. I hope all the employees were able to land new jobs. The bungalow rooms at the Trop were special. They were part of the original 1957 hotel, and unlike the Flamingo, which demolished its original bungalow rooms during a renovation in the 1990s, they chose to incorporate them when they built the two towers. Also, I remember the pool area used to be among the best party scenes in all of Las Vegas! This was in the era before the advent of "day clubs".

      @Dani702  3 місяці тому +1

      That is so fantastic! I wish I didn't have to cancel my bungalow room. That was a huge bucket list of mine but work and car troubles got in the way. I remember that pool though! We spent a lot of time in the area. They used to keep it open pretty late too. I always think of that when I see the pools now and days close at sundown. Probably to get you into the casino hah.

    Dani….so pretty you are…hey, we are supposed to talk about the Tropicana!….wow, why are you talking about your looks? Eddie has already told you how pretty you are…..anyway, we never stayed at the Tropicana, but we have visited several times over the years. Brad Garrett had his comedy club here. The vibes were always friendly. I didn’t win anything here. My wife won around $100. Thank you for presenting bits final days. It’s sad when a legendary casino has to be demolished….for a stupid baseball field!?!? It must be sad for you, especially because of all your childhood memories….and because they are memories, which can never be demolished! Forever in your mind…forever in your heart. Will see you at the bar….you’re buying, of course!

      I said that people don’t want to go to Vegas for sports, but the response was that the superbowl was there. I personally do not want to see a baseball field on the same street as the major casinos.

    Sad to see. I believe those bungalows were original, and the oldest rooms you could book on the strip. I feel like with upkeep, and a proper renovation (which was hinted at last year), this could have been an amazing retro property. But, its not downtown, so we wont see it happen. I think the A's thing will be a mess (and should stay in Oakland) but Vegas is all about fads. The current fad is sports and we're getting it whether we like it or not. At least the grey, boring building phase seems to be over (ahem, shitty center)
