Why Michael Bay Cancelled The Transformers Movie Tie-in Comics. If there's 1 thing fans can agree upon its the fact that the Michael Bay Transformers films can be very convoluted. Thankfully the fans had the IDW movie tie-in comics to fall back on. These comic books did an excellent job expanded on things as well as filling in the gaps on things that were clearly missing from the films. They would also feature illustrations that mirrored what was in the movies. Which ultimately became an issue for newer film projects. During the promotional campaign for Dark of the Moon preview pages from IDW's Dark of the Moon comic adaptation were discovered at Amazon. Through some bizarre system error, several dozen pages were made available, which included the major plot twist of Sentinel Prime showing his true colors and killing Ironhide. Michael Bay was infuriated by this leak and order Hasbro to cease production of the comics for later sequels. - Ігри

It’s a shame these things were canceled! It made minor characters from the movies who got like two minutes of screen time so much more interesting.
This is also, we assume, why Optimus declined Megatron's peace offering.
And the assumption we would have gotten "real" movies sooner. I didn't read the comics and no one has pointed out the end of the comics for 1&2 match the movies. I think this thinking is opinion based on if you like the Bayverse movies or not.
Maybe the alternate ending was Canon to the novel and comics

Both the comics and the DotM book, which was the original script, were leaked, leading to Bay also changing the ending, where Optimus would actually accept Megatrons truce proposal. This is also why the next movies had little to no tie in media.
How would the story go if that happens i wonder

@@anthonysalinas-candelero9978 we could've definitely seen something intensely different. Megatrons original plan was to find Cybertron, and rebuild it. We could've seen Megatron maybe have a solo film, stopping Quintessa, only to find Unicron coming in the end scene setting up the 5th movie. The 5th could've been about Megatron contacting Optimus to help before Unicron arrived, and them both trying to stop him, maybe even ending up with them both sacrificing themselves to kill Unicron.
@@anthonysalinas-candelero9978 TF4 was also originally supposed to have Galvatron be a base like transformer, and for it to take place in the desert. Galvatron being made by humans. Ratchet and Epps both being killed by Lockdown and his faction. That's why the original logo was the 4/Decepticon insignia in the sand.

I don’t blame Michael Bay for being furious for the ending being leaked so he tried the best he can to make it work so peoples expectations won’t come to reality .
I keep now processing what four and five would look like if they went on with the original ending.
It also spoiled the original ending for the movie which caused it to be changed to the ending where Optimus kills Megatron and Sentinel Prime.

Megatron and Optimus team up and use the Rust cannon against Sentinel, killing him in combat, before making a truce between Autobot and Decepticon to have the Decepticons return to Cybertron, and the Autobots remain on earth
@@RandomPerson-qg7yq I wish the comics didn't reveal that, so we could have all had the ending we deserved because after hearing that was supposed to be the original, I was like that ending is so much better than the one we got.

If it weren't for that Amazon error, we could have got the original ending. You can see Michael Bay had a vision for the franchise and DOTM was gonna be his last film
Unpopular opinion. The final version of DotM ending was the right choice.
Shame we didn't get more movie tie-ins to give more back stories, especially on TF's 4 and 5.
I can understand the trust being broken. Even if Bay decided for 4 & 5, the comics tell what happened between the movies. Which would be a lot.
Tf4 and 5 heavily contradict not just comics but even first movie, so i just view IDW-Bayverse as separate universe
5's lore especially needed a lot of retcons to fit in with the rest of the movies. Comics could've made an attempt at that.

Do be honest I don't have any problem with the Michael Bay comics or films.
I don't blame him. That's a big spoiler so trust is broken. Rather than thinking it'll never happen again. I think the only reason people say they want the comic ending is the assumption that we'd get "real" movies starting in 2014. Even if we didn't get 4&5, I think the DoTM ending we got was better. Megatron declaring the war over because of the circumstances doesn't seem like Megatron to me.
Backstabbing and executint Megatron after he saved Optimus and offered peace didn't seem like Optimus thing either

@@mrzirak792 I don't remember Megatron offering peace after saving him. More like he saved OP to have a stab at Sentinel. How he wouldn't be the one ruling the humans. Which is why OP decided to kill Megatron, to protect Earth and after such a plan, I don't think he'd trust Megatron to declare the war over. Plus millions of years of battle.

Wished that we got like any prequels to the 4th & 5th films. Explaining how Optimus Prime was ambushed by Lockdown & Cemetery Wind. And how Glavatron made contact with Quintessa, and was turned back into Megatron. Luckily some little fan made movies, that were made a group called TRF Productions, were able to explain everything.

Maybe...but we are years ahead of that now and we're in a soft reboot universe where things are now different for the franchise
@anthonysalinas-candelero9978 That's because Paramount lost money. And simple designs are cheaper. But an aoe game for instance never made it. If you don't count the arcade game.

Seeing how that leak caused Bay to do an entirely different ending, now I wonder what the story would have been like if Bay went even further, deciding to completely scrap the original DOTM and then making a new third entry with how he was that disappointed it even happened.
Unpopular opinion. The final version of the ending is better than the original one. Prime killing Megatron makes sense given he died in the previous film.
Honestly, why not just have them push the release date back to after the movie comes out?

I thought it was because Steven Spielberg begged him to stop. I read that somewhere actual years ago, so take that with an actual grain of salt.
I think Bay was just mad that comics were better written than his scripts.

Yeah my only problem with the bay-verse is that there are a lot of contradictions with how things happened.

This makes sense. There was also a novelization of the movie that was leaked and spoiled the ending, so the writers had to change the ending of the film.
The 2010’s was a dark time messing up a lot of stuff in those times.
I honestly think this was one of the reasons the later two movies failed, as the comics not only helped connect the movies better but also fleshed out the transformers a lot more than the movies ever did.
It's as if the Bayverse canceled everything that made a minor improvement.
As far as reasons to cancel a project goes, that's kind of a good and understandable one. That leak might have also resulted in fewer people seeing the movie since they had already been spoiled for it.
I can understand that cause i would be furious to learn a big movie project i'm working on got spoiled because some idiot included the major twist and ending as early promo pages that took it to the point you have to change the ending
I wished we got Prequel Comics for Age of Extinction and the Last Knight from IDW so that they cam flesh out universe more.

if the comics hadn’t been cancelled we probably would’ve found out most of the fates for the Autobots and another thing, if the original ending for DOTM had been kept we perhaps could’ve gotten a few different sequels for transformers.

One thing that anyone with a brain 🧠 can agree on is that Michael Bay is trash and should not be allowed anywhere near anything that has to do with Transformers you'll never see a more inconsistent movie franchise it got to the point we're low-level Autobots like Hound in Bumblebee we're hurting and defeating Megatron
