  • In this video, Mingyur Rinpoche explains the relationship between experience and realization in meditation. While experiences can vary, these are not the true essence of meditation.

He sums it up perfectly. It doesn't matter how we feel in a particular moment, we just have to be aware in that moment.

I meditate after reading the scriptures. After this practice of thinking deeply about the meaning of the scriptures my testimony of the truthfulness of them is revived and I am then ready to practice Yoga/Zazen which is NOT meditation but something else.

I have the same problem but lesser, if I meditate good 1h before sleep, i can't fall asleep for half night! If i meditate 30 minutes before sleep, i sometimes get large dreams.
A question: How do i value awareness more than peace or good feeling/contentment/satisfaction?
Another thing: I find it helpful to big-focus on keeping my mind from running around, like having it balance two heavy weights, it stimutales my 7th chakra. But you say just be aware. maybe im not so good at awareness :C

So awareness is the core of meditation. While peace and joy are like secondary effects that could be there or not and shouldn't be taken strictly as an indicator of improvement ?

yes youre right. altough they are benefits over the long term and after a meditation session the experience during can also be very stressfull actually. these are also the best moments to meditate. because those are the moments your mind needs to process the most. even Yongey mingyur Explains in videos that meditation experiences can be stressfull tasteless or uncomfortable. so instead of looking for relaxation and joy in meditation. just be aware of those things. preferably through an object like the breath or sound. and be okay if its stressfull. its completely normal. after the session try to see if you feel more relaxed or feel more okay with the moment. i also have times when im super stressed during meditation and my heart is pumping when i get out. and altough i dont feel incredibly relaxed. i notice im fine just sitting there doing nothing. this means it has worked and youve had a succesfull session.

  • @WorldofPundir

Title of the video is totally different as Mr. Rinpoche is telling to more focus on awareness instead of experience.
It should be real meaning of meditation or awareness in meditation..like that.

I'm trying to meditate now because I know how much it will improve my life, but my 3rd eye keeps opening while I do it - this wouldn't bother me except it prevents me from sleeping at night.
I know it's my 3rd eye opening because I opened it 5 years ago, which was a huge mistake. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can meditate without this happening?
    Thank you

It is what it is now.embrace whatever comes into your mind and observe it with bare awareness.nothing is good or bad in the ultimate sense.we impose our ideals to them as good or bad.ideals or thoughts are projections of our mind on this conditioned world.🙂
