I just bought a second printer, Ender 3 neo max, and needed to do the sprite se again. I did my old neo 3 months ago. So, again I watched your video. Again its the best on youtube. However, YOU CHANGED THE ENDING TO BETTER SHOW THE ESTEPS setting!!! Thanks so much!!!! You are awesome, dude!!! Now this video is perfect!!!
Thank you for this! It is pretty obvious now that I had the problem, but when I "cut" the new, blue, short Bowden tube with my Creality snippers, it did a really great job of pinching the tube shut. I worked it back open and installed the cut end at the top. PLA worked great, but I could not get TPU through the last section of tube. It makes much more sense to insert the tube with the "cut" (crimped) side closest to the hot nozzle (in first) so that the uncut (virgin) side of the tube is closest to the direct drive. Same goes for the small piece of tube before the direct drive... put the cut end in first. Works so much better. A little foresight would have prevented the need to take the new Sprite off and turn the tubes around. =]
Bought mine for $29 USD. Also had a bit too much grease inside, but no big deal. Massive upgrade over the stock Ender 3 extruder. I have been doing extensive flow testing and the stock extruder isn't good much past 6-8mm³/s with PLA while the Sprite SE is good to 12-16mm³/s with no other upgrades. For PETG it's more like 4mm³/s stock and 8-10mm³/s with the Sprite SE. Hotend mods can get you further, but the extruder itself is the largest upgrade to extrusion for sure. Can also push much harder before the motor itself skips. The direct drive eliminating the Bowden tube is basically a bonus. I'll be publishing all the data on Reddit or something eventually.
Amazing video man! I was stumped on how to do this on my ender 3v2 but its basically the same process as you showed in your video! Thank you for taking the time to make this you are amazing!
Thanks so much for your very comprehensive instructions. I have just installed my own device following your instructions and I would have been lost without them. I have an Ender 3 (V1) Neo and my e-steps ended up at 428. Not a long way from the recommended 424.9.
I came across your video because I wanted to learn (and do) a direct drive upgrade on my V2. You should have shown more of the install instead of the rear of the machine and your hands. Also, where did you come up with that e-step number? I understand how to do it with a boden tube extruder and guessed it's the same.Next time you upgrade something like this please give a more detailed discription with better video. Thank you for trying.
Amazing video like always, but I am wondering if you know where to mount the filament sensor while upgrading to the Sprite SE on the Ender 3 Max Neo that comes with this sensor from factory?
How do you know how tight to tighten the wheels on the carriage? I did this exact mod on my V2 neo and feel that the carriage is either unlevel, to right or not tight enough
Hey bro, i just got my direct drive yesturday. i just learned today i had to change the gear ratio.. lol fail.. can you help me figure out how this tensioner works? its almost like trying to use a stripped screw honesty.. idk if its not locked in the threads or what.. do you have any experience messing with the tensioner on this extruder?
Nice Video. I have not adjusted esteps before. My stock ender 3 neo has step adjustments in configuration, apparently. It is labeled "steps/mm". The current esteps is set to 93 (stock). It seems a huge difference to change that to 424.9. There are xsteps, ysteps, zsteps and esteps in the configuration. Am I in the right ballpark? Or should I be somewhere else.
For the love of all things holy do not forget to adjust the eccentric spacer on the bottom wheel of your carrier. You will save yourself hours trying to find out why your bed won't level 🤬🤬
Any idea why my sprite stopped feeding? It just makes a grinding noise...it is trying but it will not feed. It is not the hot end as I have cleaned it thoroughly.
Sometimes the teeth of extruders and grind off some of the filament and clog the extruder itself. You may need to take it apart and inspect it and clean it
You have the best video on this topic, until you got to the very end. Had you shown the panel display when you changed esteps, it would have been perfect. Now, not so much.
@@us3dtv Thanks and I'll watch that one. However, I still believe just showing the panel would have been so useful. I went ahead and guessed at settings. Changed 93 to 424.9. Very scary to make such a huge change with only guessing for navigation. The ender neo panel is poorly labeled. "Adv. Svc." means what exactly???? I did an estep test this morning and hit about 100.5mm for a 100mm push. Maybe less. Maybe 100.1, since my black line was probably .5mm wide.
I really appreciate your feedback the reason i didn't really show the screen is because my microphone wouldn't reach that far. i ordered a new wireless mic setup so i should be better in the future :)@@sailork3506
@@us3dtv I understand you are new at this? If so, its an awesome effort. Even if not new, its great. Creality has no audio at all. A simple "I will be showing the panel estep change without audio" would have been fine. We are looking for information, not elegance.
Your video caused me an extra 30 minutes by not stating what was obviously in the SE Kit. There are NO new rollers. There are 2 reduced length spacers, reduced by the thickness of the bracket. I did subscribe to your channel hoping that you learn to understand what a viewer is trying understand by your explanations. The bracket faces DOWN and to the right.

Luckily you're very good as describing what you're doing. You are doing the entire project like we have xray vision.
Thanks so much! and thank you for the fine-tuning link as well.

Exactly what I needed thank you!!
Followed your instructions . Installed successfully Direct Drive Extruder . Many thks

great video i have just upgraded my ender 3 v2 neo with the sprite extruder your video was very helpful thanks hi from the UK
Thank you for the comment!
Hi great video. So glad I can update my ender v2. 1 question after install did you alter your retraction settings in your slicing?
nope i left them default, 5mm retraction and 45mm/s retraction speed.
Just posted your videos to a couple user groups. Hope this helps!
I really appreciate that!
What is the benefit of the Sprite SE Direct Drive Extruder. New guy, trying to learn.

Sorry man, new to this. That was my first video on the channel. The e step number I got from the document on creality website
Amazing video like always, but I am wondering if you know where to mount the filament sensor while upgrading to the Sprite SE on the Ender 3 Max Neo that comes with this sensor from factory?
great video would this upgrade work on a ender 2 pro ?
Using this one myself and found it's the only reason I have not returned my ender back.
Ive had mine for about a week now and honestly its a game changer for the ender 3
Great video, thanks for sharing
you're welcome! thank you for the comment :)

Hiya can you please help me with esteps on ender 5 pro I've tried 424.9 thank you
will this work on a CR-10?
Dude to fast and not clear on the wires!

Why would you have to change the gear ratio? Just adjust the e-steps on your printer
@@us3dtv I had to change gear ratio to get mine to work.. its the correct thing to do if you have sonic pad i guess

If you are on stock extruder, do not change them. Only change if you have upgraded to a different one and the only one you adjust are esteps.
This shows you how to calculate e steps on any ender regardless of where your extruder is. ua-cam.com/video/qOj8L0IXcfA/v-deo.html
You are in the right place - I have just posted above that my settings ended up at 428 from the default 93. I have an Ender 3 Neo (V1).
So, what's the logic for the E-Steps being 424.9 ? Just curious as I'm thinking about doing this as well on my E3 Neo
gear ratio is different.

Where did you land on your retraction distance and retraction speed settings for this extruder?
I left it at whatever the default in cura slicer is. I think 5mm?
Any idea why my sprite stopped feeding? It just makes a grinding noise...it is trying but it will not feed.
It is not the hot end as I have cleaned it thoroughly.

Subscribed for more 3D printing stuff. Less interested in 1 Star reviews.
just ordered a K1 today so will hopefully make some videos with it
dude filmed the vid like skinamarink 😭
Just installed this, I feel like my shroud is tilted now and closer to the bed. Is that normal?
No not at all, it should go on the same way it came off. Do you maybe have wires in the way?
what are your retraction settings?
My retraction distance is set to 5mm at 45mm/s
I’m having trouble leveling the bed i tighten the knobs all the way but the nozzle is still touching the bedd
i will make a video covering it :)
I was so confused because my kit came with 2 wiring harnesses....idk why
Yeah mine only came with one. Did you get the hot end upgrade? Or maybe they just put an extra one in on accident
The kit extruder can be used for other printers. The Ender 5 plus requires 2.

I ended up making a dedicated video on how to adjust your Esteps

Hi do you have One z Axis?
not sure what you mean, Z is up/dpwn
why are you doing this from the wrong side?
