One thing to note about the Slugger, it stun locks most enemies. The game description even states it's for bigger foes so yeah it's not great against swarms. But being able to stun lock a Stalker is money!

I think the point of a secondary is to balance your primary. Taking the Slugger? Take the machine pistol for swarms. Taking the. Breaker? Take the revolver just to hammer medium armour that soaks up ammo.
Agreed. If your team goes heavy on either role or function in the fight, then that also enters the conversation. That is why a load-out system is so antithetical to this game. Every choice matters. I hope they give us a difficulty lvl where you need a mid to high gamer skillz, but also adjusting team composition with eachmember and mission type. I really think that if the game works with pre-created load outs, then it will become samey too quickly, and only the grinding of resources will keep the interest going. But Im in the minority here. People are more often focused on their own konsistent progression. And perhaps there are ways to cater to that, but still keep the chqllenge.
For the chargers, if you only have your primary dont shoot its abdomen wait for it to finish charging just walk to the right dodge it and when it stops immediately start shooting its back leg until it turns fully. Theres a window where its vulnerable and can be easily killed without the need for anything ap.
Funny that i prefer punisher than slugger against bugs even on 8-9 difficulty, because of it's a concentrated buckshot you don't really need to aim so precisely and it still devastating enough against most bugs. For bots breaker or Dilligence is my primary choice.
I tried to use the liberator penetrator against the bots in single fire mode. It can be effective, but when you're getting shot at its very hard to try and be accurate enough with it.
Against bots I feel like the best weapon options are Jar-5 Dominator, Scorcher, or the Defender SMG Defender plus riot shield is a sleeper against bots, you can ignore so many types of enemies, just need to worry about rocket devastators, tanks, artillery, and cannon turrets.
Sickle has been working great on bots first me , eagle air strike as well as grenade launcher with a supply pack and EMS mortar 😎 having mad fun with this setup
2:35 Meta is for people who don't think strategically and who always have the same equipment everywhere without being able to vary it for specific missions
100% agree with this list. The slugger handles armor bugs very well but lacks in crowd control, so if you run the slugger run a crowd control support. the spray and pray is amazing except for dealing with armored terminids, or high health terminids, so run a heavy hitting support to deal with them if you're running the spray and pray. both equally viable with different substitutes

Been using the stock punisher in Helldive difficulty and it’s perfectly serviceable for dealing with bug swarms. Not sure what the metric of measurement was for that. It’s certainly better than the slugger for mobs and basically everything that’s not a charger or a hulk but if you’re going to deal with those guys why would you wish you had the slugger equipped when you can just kill then with a stratagem weapon.
I've mained the punisher since I got it and it's pretty good on bug swarms. I recommend firing while moving a lot since you fire while the weapon is coming up, taking out stuff immediately at your feet.
I had the breaker and SG-8 pre nerf and I always preferred the SG-8. If you get headshots it is I think the best shotgun overall. The breaker was beat for crowd control. The SG-8 with and Auto Cannon on Helldiver difficulty seemed to work just fine for me.
I’ve been enjoying the in incendiary and the punisher, but I’m only good enough to go to 4-5 level difficulties post update so I’ll have to save for spray and pray and slugger
I just got the Incendiary-Breaker that fires in burst mode, but has a significantly larger magazine than the original Breaker - and so far it seems o.k. - has some stopping power at least. I agree with you that most of the primary weapons are not quite up to the task, since they either can't stop most of the bigger enemies and can be easily swarmed. Been using the Liberator-Penetrator which has been o.k. for what it is, but have been pretty disappointed with the laser assault rifle which seems much weaker than the downloadable laser cannon. (I like that, because there's usually no reload and no running our of ammo to worry about). I still need the laser drone to help from getting swarmed in most medium level missions too! (It's even o.k. against medium sized enemies as well, if I can run around and avoid getting trampled by them for long enough)! -:)
still running the breaker. it lost 3 rounds per mag and more recoil. but the recoil is whatever, it always goes to the top left, you can still full auto without missing a single shot as before. 3 less rounds are noticable but not too bad. its getting me out of almost every bad situtation when im swarmed and have to deal lots of damage in a short amount of time.

Breaker never got a dps nerf so I still like it more even if I have to reload more and lose ammo faster. I think now it's not just not seen as easily the best because I'm actively making a choice to have burst damage over sustained damage
Something to make the Punisher (both models) a little more useable is to tap the reload after every shot. The recoil is enough that you do want to give it a moment to reset anyway, and you can spend that time loading to keep the ammo stream continous. The Punisher really did feel underwhelming but I do feel like it's ability to stagger automotans isn't nothing, there is very little that stops a Berserker after all. You just need to focus on using a secondary for everything else which you could use the buffed laser canon as it kills devs really quickly now and can punch through weak points for surprisingly quick kills on tanks and hulks.

Not sure if someone else mentioned this. But not every gun is supposed to be effective to all enemy types! I.e fire rounds won't damage automatons as efficiently as it would a bug. This game is supposed to be different loadouts and effective weapons based on mission types and enemy type. The devs have said they hate the term "meta" and want all guns to be viable options in the right situations. Again the flamethrower won't be great against non biologicals. I like this approach. It's refreshing to know they are trying to eliminate meta loadouts as best as possible. And not by nerfing things to the ground But rather big buffing other weapons. Love that. Also the guns listed stats almost seem useless after hearing they all have an abundance of hidden stats.
would be nice if they added another stratagem for an ammo backpack that gos along with the machine gun that increases the mag size so its as close to a mini gun but the balance is that you need to use 2 stratagem slots
If my teammates bring AP, ill use the slugger with the stalwart. Its great for horde clearing and i can keep my buddies safe while they are killimg the big boys.
As an arc thrower user I’m using it 90% of the game and if I get overrun or need to create distance or leverage. The breaker does it better then any shotgun.
Arc thrower is fun to use, needs a slight buff though in my opinion. I love the breaker, I just find that it burns through ammo too quickly now though. It lost 21 rounds in it, which is an entire mag and some 😢
Slugger has medium penetration and both Slugger and Punisher stunlock anything short of a charger. I would not say that Punisher is weak, one tapping warriors is a big deal
Honestly i don't understand all the HUFF over the bracker nerf, it hasn't really changed in a significant way. I know someone did the math and its like -1000 DPS.... But do you really need that extra 1000 dps? The dame thing already shreds everything in its path. For me it doesn't feel any different, but i can see people noticing the smaller ammo clips. But yeah, the Spray and Prey actually Works now, thats a nice upgrade. The Slugger is Grate for dealing with medium enemies, the punisher for light enemies or Brood Commanders.
I been using the breaker spray and pray with its buff it genuinely feels great to me and actually useable big fan of it feels better then normal breaker but that’s mainly due to personal taste
Yeah I’ve been waiting for it to be usable cause it felt really good aside from damage/ap and now it’s fun but it still feels just a tad bit weak. They should’ve left the mag size alone and it would be pretty close to perfect I think

People need to stop calling the breaker nerf a nerf. It is still very strong and works well, just less ammo. Granted I would think anything with fast fire rate would have bigger ammo capacity and less damage, the breaker still has good damage and ok ammo. If I were them I would have buffed the ammo of breaker and nerfed its damage. Either way still a solid weapon. Barely a nerf at all.
Punisher still holds up in lv7 bot missions for me and almost aways ones shots the single guys and stunlocks the devastates easily. Not saying it's better than the slugger per say, but feel like you didn't really give them a chance either
@@LordHollow they increased the spray and pray slightly, it’s under light armor pen. I should have been more specific in pen values. The slugger is medium for example and can kill the brood mothers through the face, whereas the spray and pray cannot
Still can't really justify this gun usage, it penetrates more, but not nearly enough, moreover, It's dps is lacking so it's better to use Diligence imo

the best shotgun is STILL the slugger. it was better than the breaker before and it is better than all the other "Current" shotguns. We shall see how it compares to the upcoming plasma and lightning shotguns.
I haven’t seen the plasma and lightning shotguns yet, I need to look them up. I think the breaker was better before simply for the up close engagements. I do love the slugger though and it’s more fun to use 💪🏻

Slug is better for single targets, and the buckshot for multiple, but since the punisher is pump action too, it doesn’t do enough to kill swarms or even distance targets as well as the slugger.
I highly doubt it, they announced why they nerfed certain weapons and buffed others. Those two aren’t dominate in every area, so they will leave them be
@@MATCH1NNot only are Berserkers melting with the Punisher, but I can shoot two or three at a time without them actually moving and getting me and I can probably get two of them down before I have to reload. Walkers die when shot in the head after one shot, these big red ones without armor die after three shots in the head just like the spitter. For the armored ones I have the railgun and for the rest of the automotons I use the railgun when at distance.

@@MATCH1N no it wasn’t. If you shoot their front legs you should get a red hit marker which means flesh. If you get white or grey it means you hit armor. And they have armor on their bodies and head.
What booster do I recommend? Personally I would say stamina is always the most valuable. Being able to have more stamina as well as recharge faster is the most important part to survival, especially against bugs

The breaker is still good. Idk why it's become some consensus that because the gun got nerfed that it's bad now? The other shotguns all got buffs In some form or another so the breaker has just been made no better than the rest, which each having their own feel now. I agree with everyone that there needs to be major buffs in other weapons and areas, but saying “buff only not nerf” is crazy.

Slugger does medium armour penetration, which makes it better than the punisher. Punisher is just a let down.
If my teammates bring AP, ill use the slugger with the stalwart. Its great for horde clearing and i can keep my buddies safe while they are killimg the big boys.
As an arc thrower user I’m using it 90% of the game and if I get overrun or need to create distance or leverage. The breaker does it better then any shotgun.
Arc thrower is fun to use, needs a slight buff though in my opinion. I love the breaker, I just find that it burns through ammo too quickly now though. It lost 21 rounds in it, which is an entire mag and some 😢

Slugger has medium penetration and both Slugger and Punisher stunlock anything short of a charger. I would not say that Punisher is weak, one tapping warriors is a big deal
Honestly i don't understand all the HUFF over the bracker nerf, it hasn't really changed in a significant way. I know someone did the math and its like -1000 DPS.... But do you really need that extra 1000 dps? The dame thing already shreds everything in its path. For me it doesn't feel any different, but i can see people noticing the smaller ammo clips.
But yeah, the Spray and Prey actually Works now, thats a nice upgrade. The Slugger is Grate for dealing with medium enemies, the punisher for light enemies or Brood Commanders.
I been using the breaker spray and pray with its buff it genuinely feels great to me and actually useable big fan of it feels better then normal breaker but that’s mainly due to personal taste
I agree. It’s amazing up close. Mid range not so much, but then again it’s a shotgun, and meant for mass hordes. That and the slugger are my favorite
Yeah I’ve been waiting for it to be usable cause it felt really good aside from damage/ap and now it’s fun but it still feels just a tad bit weak. They should’ve left the mag size alone and it would be pretty close to perfect I think

I still use the breaker, but as a sidarm to the laser cannon. Damn thing is so fun and its good vs bugs and bots up till 7 dif.

People need to stop calling the breaker nerf a nerf. It is still very strong and works well, just less ammo. Granted I would think anything with fast fire rate would have bigger ammo capacity and less damage, the breaker still has good damage and ok ammo. If I were them I would have buffed the ammo of breaker and nerfed its damage. Either way still a solid weapon. Barely a nerf at all.
Punisher still holds up in lv7 bot missions for me and almost aways ones shots the single guys and stunlocks the devastates easily. Not saying it's better than the slugger per say, but feel like you didn't really give them a chance either
PrayNspray close encounter no stagger has its use if you are fighting close to the enemies. Such as the flamer players.

If you're using Spray and Pray at the 5:26 mark, that is not medium armor penetration.

Still can't really justify this gun usage, it penetrates more, but not nearly enough, moreover, It's dps is lacking so it's better to use Diligence imo
@@zadovrus1624 Yes diligence is very good for two tap headshots but when shit hits the fan i like the medium penetration and getting full damage through at medium to close range when aiming over the shoulder and the FPS scope is solid for distance snipes in semi auto. diligence, i cant use up close if i get swarmed by berserkers or dual sword automatons.
I just use scorcher. 1 taps bots in the chest and the most importantly, kill striders from the front.
13 from 16 ammo doesnt seem like alot until you think about it basically lost an entire 1 and half clips worth of ammo

the best shotgun is STILL the slugger. it was better than the breaker before and it is better than all the other "Current" shotguns. We shall see how it compares to the upcoming plasma and lightning shotguns.
I haven’t seen the plasma and lightning shotguns yet, I need to look them up. I think the breaker was better before simply for the up close engagements. I do love the slugger though and it’s more fun to use 💪🏻

Slug is better for single targets, and the buckshot for multiple, but since the punisher is pump action too, it doesn’t do enough to kill swarms or even distance targets as well as the slugger.
Cool, now they will just nerf the slugger and punishers since people are using that now.
I highly doubt it, they announced why they nerfed certain weapons and buffed others. Those two aren’t dominate in every area, so they will leave them be
@@MATCH1NNot only are Berserkers melting with the Punisher, but I can shoot two or three at a time without them actually moving and getting me and I can probably get two of them down before I have to reload. Walkers die when shot in the head after one shot, these big red ones without armor die after three shots in the head just like the spitter. For the armored ones I have the railgun and for the rest of the automotons I use the railgun when at distance.

@@MATCH1N no it wasn’t. If you shoot their front legs you should get a red hit marker which means flesh. If you get white or grey it means you hit armor. And they have armor on their bodies and head.

What booster do I recommend? Personally I would say stamina is always the most valuable. Being able to have more stamina as well as recharge faster is the most important part to survival, especially against bugs

I mean it was extremely uncalled for and toxic, and I’m not defending what the devs did in retaliation either, but they are trying out to balance a brand new game and most of the community acted like children instead of giving constructive criticism. They respond in why they did what they did, and still got blasted. I know it wasn’t everyone and I definitely don’t defend everything the devs have done, but people need to be patient. I agree with everyone that there needs to be major buffs in other weapons and areas, but saying “buff only not nerf” is crazy.

nah the devs put the toxic little assholes in their place. It’s impossible for a small studio to tell the future. They released an incredible game but the balancing wasn’t where they wanted it to be so they dialed things back. It was one patch ONE. And the toxic little emotionally stunted children flipped out. They shouldn’t have apologized imo. They could have tested the game all they want but they aren’t gonna find everything like 700k can. It’s their game their vision. Play it or don’t.
