I was a young lad when this came out. The arpaggios played in this instrumentation, played a part in developing my interest in music. Ended up studying Clarinet for 14 years.
This is from the synth pop meistro Vince Clark and Allison Moyer at vocals. Clark founded Depeche Mode and Erasure and in between formed Yaz or yazoo. Other fantastic songs are Don’t Go (a banger), and Situation (another banger).
I usually give you songs that I specifically pick for you… this one was me being selfish because I just love this one. Something about the lyrics always hits me.
Great group are Yazoo. They were only together for 18 months and made 2 fantastic albums. Vince Clarke was in Depeche Mode before Yazoo and afterwards formed Erasure. Alison Moyet had a very successful solo career. Check out some of Yazoo’s other songs such as “ Don’t go”, “Nobody’s Diary”, “Situation”. A group of unemployed guys in the UK did a really good acapella version of “Only You”. It made Xmas no.1 in the UK.
Yazoo or Yaz (they go by both) also has the song “Situation” which was a big hit but is a little too commercial for me. Their other song that I really like is “Don’t Go.”
This is definitely one of those songs that I have to listen twice because it DOES leave you wanting more! PS. Selena Gomez did a remake of it for 13 Reasons Why that’s quite beautiful. It’s a slower sad version
This could be the next massive retro hit for the Netflix series "Stranger Things" after the delayed "Running Up That Hill" ("Deal with God") by Kate Bush smash hit this Summer? Or how about the wonderful extended version of Mike Oldfield's "Moon Light Shadow" or his amazing "Five Miles Out" - or "Hide in Your Shell" by Supertramp? - or "Somewhere Along the Road" / "Deep in the Darkest Night" by / with Steeleye Span / Maddy Prior? Brilliant British music at its best that most Americans by far have never heard either 😢 ( and no, I am not British - just an admiring neighbour across the smaller North Sea pond 😂 )
Can't help but remember the "rude" version we knew as kids when this came out. ' Looking from a window above some bas£ard gave me a shove. I was falling. Falling from 30 feet, I landed straight on my heid, I was bleeding. ' The rest is probably best in my head.
Great reaction. Midnight is a great track of the same album up stars at Eric's. The whole album is worth listening to I before e is a bit strange but still great
You never hear great music when you hear it open your mind to better music what happen. There’s group you can listen to black flag and bad brain and Gang of Four
Not enough people react to this. Great tune.
Thank you
One of the greatest songs of all time sung by one of the best vocalists ever!

He also did the often overlooked "Never Never" with Fergal Sharkey
MOYET

I love this song too
Alison Moyet best voice ever
Allison Moyet is like Ann Wilson. One of those power blues singers. I think she leaps beyond Adele.
I'm sure we all know this is Alison Moyet and if you think it's too short. play it over and over like I do.

Ode To Boy & Midnight are two of the better and overlooked songs that they did.
You have to check out their songs 'DONT GO' and 'SITUATION' trust me, these songs were trend-setters
If the song comes on. And my now say dad's got taste. Nice.
Great song!!

Alison Moyet and Vince Clark is Yazoo.
Vince Clark make Depeche Mode and Erasure.
For an equally epic rendition cover.
Flying Pickets (acapella)
Those were the days!!!

I'm getting old and everything makes me nostalgic, this song it's too much for my age. 😥🍺
Yazoo is also called Yaz. I still have the original cassette tape that bears the name YAZ.
🎉🎉🎉

Yazoo's album title is actually UPSTAIRS at Eric's.

"Don't Go" is such a better song, tho.
Song from google commercial
You should hear the group do this song live. The audience sings so loudly they drown out the band.
You need to see the orig, video
