Outstanding (I like movies). I commented this on your Molus X100 video too but - it makes all the difference seeing a video that explores the creative uses of gear with lots of examples. Rather than just talking about it (and not showing it in use) or shooting test charts etc. Really nice balance of information + inspiration seeing all the shots you came up with.

But as soon as I put it on the camera and moved my camera, I was like whoa. Something about that super wide field of view is just so fun and unique looking. I do wish it had autofocus, but it kind of has more of the optics of a cinema lens than a photo lens I feel It's clean but not overly sharp
Totally! When paired with the camera movement the character of the lens makes everything so dynamic. Your shot from inside the washing machine was so cool! The framing of the rim mixed with the rotation was great. Oh on the note of autofocus, have you gotten a chance to check out reviews for the new PDMovie Live Air3 Smart? It is a small LIDAR system that can give autofocus to your manual lenses. Might be something of interest for pairing with this lens.

But I'd love to review one. I feel like that's going to be the future on bigger productions. At least in certain use cases. On uncut gems they used lidar AF for a lot of the street stuff. Pretty cool
@@ScottJeschke this type of lens review is really what I aspire to me making, at least now and then. How many hours, would you estimate, it took to make a 5 min video like this?
@@markwiemels very kind of you to say. I really need to keep better track of the time spent on these. A few of my past ones were up to 70 hrs. I think this one was 40ish so it's gotten more efficient, but I'm always second guessing if it's worth it. One really blew up 4months later, so I guess time tells ha. That being said, on the narrative side as a film director I feel like these weirdly have helped me grow a lot, because while they're very restricted in subject matter, they're completely unbridled in terms of creative choices. So that's been really fun to just try things and practice. From that perspective they've been totally worth it.

@@markwiemels if you give it a shot, message me anytime! The one thing I'll say really sped up the process was putting a level-able pan and tilt head (from one of those ulanzi desk trees) onto a light stand rather than using a tripod. Made setting up shots sooo much faster by mitigating tripod legs

Thanks man! Lots of haze. Sometimes 1/8 black pro mist, sometimes Dehancer bloom. No bloom or pro mist for this one, because I wanted the viewers to have a clear view of the lens optics without filtration. Re the titles, thank you! I typically add grain to the text layer.. I think w an overlay blend mode, then I add a 1-2% gaussian blur and a gatweave effect that I made.
@@mheyman absolutely! I use the chauvet dj hurricane 1dx . Love it. I used to use the typical Halloween smoke machine, and it always left a filmy residue over everything. This leaves nothing and looks better by far
@@mheyman for 6 bucks on Amazon I got a 50 pack of shower caps while running it. I just slipped those over the fire alarms. Have had zero issues. Learn that one From Danny Gevirtz.

Sure thing! Yeah, I wouldn't use them for that. I think they're best for close ups and trippy action shots. Skate videos, music videos, POV etc

Wide angle is a ton of fun! I've never really gone this wide before. It's a fun challenge, but the aesthetic is so unique and kinetic

@@prinix5282 looks like 25 mm f2.8 I'd say. Still wide, but not super wide. Unless shallow depth of field.
