Barb’s rendition of the intro song really touched my Heart. The idea of doing national pastries was a beautiful concept and poppy is so unique and beautiful, and her face up just makes her stand out!!! As usual the details and thoughtfulness in deciding each element of the doll shows your skill and technique, and she’s stunning!!

I'm Brazilian and I think the most famous pastry in here is the brigadeiro, you can find them on literally every birthday party and they are very simple to make, condensed milk, a little bit of butter and powder chocolate pretty much. They are these small balls of sweet covered in chocolate sprinkles usually, but you can find many sizes from tiny to huge brigadeiros on stores if you look around a little. I love Poppy and your dolls, lots of hugs from Brazil ❤️❤️❤️

Ahh this is such a cool idea!
Shes adorable and I love the smol poppies in her hair😍
The traditional desserts in Norway that pop into my head is something called tilslørte bondepiker (litterally translated to "veiled peasant girls"💀)
It's often served in a glass, crushed apples in the bottom, sweet breadcrumbs over that and whipped cream on top.
Personally I also have super nostalgic memories from eating whipped cream with cloudberries in, served in something we call a "sandcake".
Honestly they are not that good, but nostalgic and traditional😅

The logic is excellent for this doll and I love her! I also love the panbaked, coconut flakes covered, fluffy chocolate cake with chocolate icing that several parts of Sweden has it's own name for. I prefer the most common one: kärleksmums! (Roughly translated it's "yummy love")

The traditional Scottish dessert - tbh it's _the_ Scottish dessert - that I love is cranachan. It's a combination of cream, raspberries, pinhead oatmeal, and whisky, usually served in layers. It's creamy and fresh with a little bite and just delicious. We have it on occasions like Burns Night. St Andrew's Day, weddings and ceilidhs, and sometimes Hogmanay (although usually black bun is more traditional for that).

Fun fact about poppies, in Australia (where I live) poppies are a way to pay respect to soldiers who fought in World War One (and passed away). The reason we use poppies is because on the battlefield where the ANZACS (soldiers) fought, the very first flower to bloom there were poppies and people believe that the blood spilled on that land gave birth to the bright red flowers. It’s a very interesting and sad story.

i'm swedish, and we have a lot of pastries. they tend to have their own "acceptable" seasons, like the semla, which is a sweet bun with cardamom, which is cut a little like a hamburger bread (except the lid is smaller) and then it's filled with an almond paste on the bottom part and then you add whipped cream and powdered sugar. it's famous for actually being involved in the death of one of our kings, who ate so much that he died.

As a Mexican, pastries that I think are the most iconic here are: Pan de Muerto (Bread of the Dead) and Rosca de Reyes (King's Cake), they taste amazing but are only eaten during certain holidays. Pan de Muerto is eaten on Dia de Los Muertos (day of the dead) and Rosca de Reyes is eaten on Dia de Reyes

Baklava is probably one of the most popular desserts where I’m from 😂 along with kenafah and pastries filled with cinnamon sugar or date paste. Or handmade nougat that can be made up of many different flavors. Or even meringue-like cookies. Or fried dough that’s then dipped in sugar syrup. Honestly now that I think about it we have so many desserts 😂

It’s so interesting that similar things are found under different countries. We have something similar here in Finland. We call it “kääretorttu” (translated: rolled tart) which is a similarly rolled sponge cake with usually whipped cream and berries (strawberry is the most classical). ☺️
I love Poppy so much! Amazing work as usual! ❤️

  • @alicelima2320

The iconic dessert in my country I'd say is brigadeiro. There's also paçoca and pé-de-moleque. These are the first ones that comes to mind when I think about brazilian desserts.
Brigadeiro is sweetened condensed milk, powdered chocolate, and bit of butter. Put it all in the pan, mix till you get the right texture, then roll it in small balls and cover it with chocolate sprinkles.
Paçoca and pé-de-moleque are both peanut based. Paçoca is kinda close to a peannutbutter reese's cup, I'd say. Pé-de-moleque is like, get the brigadeiro recipe, but instead of powdered chocolate you put the whole roasted and peeled peanuts in it. Oh, and add melted sugar, like caramel, so you can make little bars.
There's a lot of brazilian desserts. But these ones are my fav. Lol

I would love to try out the poppy-seed roll cake! In England, we also have poppy-seed cakes baked with Earl Grey tea leaves or lemon, but being from Japan, the traditional sweets we have are a bit strange what with green tea and sweet bean paste . . . the most iconic treats are the steamed dumplings we call 'dango' especially the tri-coloured ones: pink, white and green on a stick. Maybe you can add a kanzashi hairpin to reference that.

Loved the end result! ❤️❤️ Here in Portugal we have tons of traditional pastries (as a country with a Catholic background, theres a lot of of interesting and peculiar pastry related history that originated in the Monasteries across the land) But if I had to pick one, it would have to be the one and only, everyones favourite the iconic "Pastel de Nata". Translates to "Pastry of Cream", and its basically a small tart with egg based sweet filling in the center (a kind of custard that i can compare to "creme brulee"). Its very commmon here and you have them in every coffee shop or eatary, its perfect to accompany your coffee break, or just a quick bite on the go. The secret is to get the most burnt ones at the top and sprinkle them with cinnamon 🤌👌

In the South Texas region, we have a lot of Mexican desserts. Pan de polvo (sometimes called Mexican wedding cookies) are pretty iconic - and delicious! They're pretty messy, though, because they're supposed to be crumbly and then they're dusted with cinnamon sugar. But boy, are they tasty! (someone made some and brought them to work yesterday, which is why they're on my mind)

I'm from czechia, and I absolutely LOVE the poppy seed cake (makový závin in czech). I really love how Poppy turned out! If I had to chose a czech pastry to base a doll on, I would go for a kind of round sourdough cake with plum jam... or Povidlový Koláč. My grandma always made them for us. They're flat, round and filled with cottage cheese and have a layer of plum jam on top. I don't really know how common they are in other countries, but they feel very traditional to me. Also, they're delicious!

Lamingtons, fairy bread and the classic pavlova.
Although New Zealand will try and claim the Pav but it's ours! Bugger off! - Australia

The braided hair reminds me of Houska bread. I make it at Christmas for the Czech/Slavic side of my family

She's so cute! I don't think the Netherlands have an official pie, but I'd go with the Dutch 'appeltaart' which is a delicious apple pie! Also, I'm in love with the coat, I would love to make one for one of my dolls ^^

Here in Brazil the most popular dessert is brigadeiro, it's like a chocolate trufle made of condensed milk.

Because of the swirling eye and demon features she looks like a cute love demon. Y’know like on valentine’s day we have cupid to make people fall in love but she’s a different type of cupid.
