The Substance was movie of the year for me. Thank you Nick and Joseph for another year of entertainment! And despite Nick's disdain for when people use the word "iconic" liberally, I have to say that the two of you are, in my opinion at least, the most iconic duo on all of UA-cam. ❤
Glad to see Smile 2 getting the recognition it deserves. It’s honestly a nearly perfect horror movie and it’s probably the most suspenseful movie of the year. Anora was elite too.
Emilia Perez and Smile were also my top two favorite films this year!. Also, Nick mentioning "The Beast" reminded me of the funniest thing I've witnessed out of the hundreds of reviews I've watched on this channel was when Nick gave "The Beast" five stars, then Joseph proceeded to give it two stars 🤣 lmao the face Nick made when he heard Joseph's score felt as if Joseph had cheated on him with his worst enemy and then stabbed him in the chest, so heartbreaking! But also very funny! lol
Thelma was such a heartwarming, gentle (and I basically never use that word, lol) movie, that I would HIGHLY advise watching with your elderly relatives, if you can. It was a really bonding experience for me 🙂
my top films of the year 15. The beast 14. Nosferatu 13. Dune Pt. 2 12. Red Rooms 11. Terrifier 3 10. Longlegs 9. About dry grasses 8. Civil War 7. Challengers 6. Femme 5. Queer 4. Furiosa : Mad Max saga 3. Devils Bath 1/2. Substance or 'Anora Honorable mentions : problemista, monkey man, love lies bleeding, the bikeriders, hitman.
One of the things I love about you both, is that you are so empathetic and have such ease relating to female characters. Oftentimes when I see straight male reviewers, I walk away frustrated as they miss so much and can't put themselves in women's shoes and their stores. You two are incredibly in touch, it comes to you effortlessly, nothing goes over your head, you understand women so well 🫶
The Substance is my number one film of the year. I love you guys and this list❤. This channel is amazing and you guys always keep me informed/ educated on films.
Great list fellas! Another amazing year for you two. My go to after I watch a movie. Nick is the type of dude I would love to watch a movie like No country for old men or zone of interest with. And then break it down after viewing. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for all your reviews this year! It’s definitely impacted which films I see (in theater and at home). I’m much less likely to waist my money, thanks to y’all! Happy Holidays!
I just love and appreciate you two so much! Two incredible Top 10's if I do say so myself ❤ I love that this has been the year of women-led films, and "Emilia Perez", "The Substance", "Anora", "Babygirl", "Nightbitch" and so many others prove that these stories deserve to be told!
ECLECTIC choices, guys! 😊 The shade to the guy with the WORK ETHIC through that sketch....😎 Be well this Holiday season guys! Glad I'm a new sub! 🎄🎁❤️🎇
My new favorite movie review channel hands down, told all of my friends and they are telling theirs. Love how you both break down movies with an honest furver. Not bought or sold by anyone, it's not only refreshing but 💯 exciting.
Nick's list is like Cannes special 😅 - he got Anora, All we Imagine as Light, Emilia Perez, Substance, Seed of the sacred fig - all 5 award winners at Cannes. But love Joseph's no 1. It will stay with me as an extremely original and humane film. And Joseph you have company, James Cameron picked it as his favorite too.
Been so busy w the holidays. Getting back on and seeing Best of, Worst AND worst hair is already up?!! 😀LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Thank you for another amazing year of entertainment 😊🩷
Really enjoyed listening to you throughout the year. I agree with you most of the time! 1. The Taste of Things. 2. La Chimera. 3. On becoming a guinea fowl. 4. Challengers, 5 The Teacher's Lounge. 6. About dry grasses. 7. Small things like these. 8. Green Border. 9. Girls will be girls. 10 The Promised Land. 11 Hoard. 12 Cadejo Blanco. I haven't seen The Brutalist, Baby girl, A complete unknown. A real pain, September 5, Nosferatu, The Seed of the sacred fig or Hard Truths which might have featured. No UK releases yet for these.
Happy Holidays! Very glad to see Nick appreciating georgian cinema. Also looking forward to Mikey Madison's carrier after this amazing performance, I was charmed by her in Scream but this movie really let her shine ☺️
My top ten in no order: 1. Challengers 2. The Substance 3. Rebel Ridge 4. Exhibiting Forgiveness 5. Twilight of the Warrior: Walled In 6. Emilia Perez 7. Conclave 8. Blink Twice 9. Wicked 10. Rob Peace
@@Jeannine_9 Because I didn’t like it. I went to see it and while I thought the acting was good, I didn’t like the story and it felt 3 hours long. You’re right though I probably should have phrased it better with an explanation. I was in a bad mood after feeling I wasted money on the ticket.
Good picks! I wanted to watch Queer but I was traumatized too much by Here and Nightbitch and I figured that would have similar effects in terms of self reflection and desires in life. Tldr I studied film and am just getting serious about trying to get a career in it now at 28.
Choices that made you feel and think at the end of it! The most value for the time spent watching them as well, all personal winnersand compliments, nice!☺
Merry Christmas to you Nick and Joseph! I am enjoying watching this year end video while visiting with my Mom in the hospital. She is doing better. Also I plan to see "Babygirl" in the next day or two.
Good Picks guys. Always nice to watch your videos. I know these lists respond to personal opinions, but I was suprised not to see "Sing Sing" in any of your lists. For me is the best movie of the year. Sublime in every possible way.
Merry Christmas to you Both. Thank you for this excellent year of entertainment and trusted reviews. Love and Godspeed to you and yours. Smile 2 Made the list how cool. I love Smile 2 so much. I was made a fan of a brand new actress and had my best In Theater experience in 2024. Substance was absolutely amazing. Maybe my favorite movie this year. You don't see new ideas like that as often as I would like. I also love the Woman directors Work now, I think her name is Coraline Fargeat. I watched her other Thriller and it was wonderful( name escapes me, maybe Vengeance or Revenge). I watched Emelia Perez expecting to be attracted to the Selena Gomez Character. When it was made clear that wasn't ever going to happen, I just couldn't get into it. I'd have to sit down and watch it around people who love it, to ever understand any enjoyment of that film. Interesting the Iranian Film made the list. I remember you speaking about it, and now I must see it. Lastly an Intermission in the Brutalist. Dear God in heaven, I must go....I love intermissions at plays, you go to the restroom, get a alcoholic beverage. Possibly mingle and discuss small details for but a moment. That's an amazing discovery to me. Even at home I feel Intermissions are very much appreciated, make a snack, or just walk around while listening to the good music... Onwards and Upwards.
Girl with the Needle looks gorgeous. If it's psychodrama, I'm interested. Excellent movies! You're right, women filmmakers are popping off right now. I'm glad the world is no longer threatened by fire and damnation, only islands and rainbows.
Cheers to the new years everyone! Thanks for sharing this list with us Nick & Joseph. I'd like to request one favor, would you please cpnsider showing us what the trophies look like and the story behind the chosen design? Not just for the best, but also the worst list too? Thx in advance
Did y'all watch the brilliant new Count of Monte Cristo adaptation directed by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte? Easily slid into my top 5 of 2024.
