I had a talk recently with a Christian of a particular Denomination. I was doing some work and I suspect there is work they don't approve of even if you have to get the job done. I have had all sorts of complaints about my religion and people wanting me to change but I'd hate to change from one church I don't understand to another church I don't understand and still have people go nuts. I confronted him with the question ... you think I'm Satan, Don't you? You're upset and pestering me because you believe me to be Satan? Personally, I'd say that God or god or whatever has got me where I am today so if you like it you can thank God and if you hate it you can blame me (because that's the way the world works).

When the books are written by man whom is imperfect the books are inherited with imperfections. I do believe there is good teachings in the bible and other similar books and good moral lessons which uses lots of metaphors to explain them. As metaphors are a good way to explain things which can cross cultures and social groups. But as the books are written by many people there is also there is different personalities and agendas. Some of the authors where aiming for good things in a world which was very corrupt and vile in dark times not unlike any other times really all like this just the symptoms are stronger or weaker In some places at times in others weaker just depends what time we talking about. And other authors where speaking control and using these tales for control like a beating stick.

Fun Fact: In Hebrew, Satan, means "Adversary." So at one one in the bible God says "I will he a satan to your satan!" Satan is also considered to be an Office within the Divine Council, and satan didn't become Capital "S" Satan till later in the bible!

The entity actually started in Ancient Egypt, Ancient Mesopatamia, and Ancient India...Not just one place but all different places at different times because its an entity and is not bound by the rules of physical world. It was first a water god/ storm god ( Ishtar) or ( Shiva) then later became associated with fire...
The supposed clever thing that the "devil" ever did has been used to protect any criticism against the juvenile tenets of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism for probably centuries now. Because how can anybody argue against it? The same goes whenever anybody tries to negate the existence of some omnipotent, omniscient being. For what it's worth, I don't believe in a god or a devil.
