    Loving the prep my man, not many people would take those crucial yet necessary steps for a great finish. We’ll done, love the boat looks like it was strait from a better jon bot factory that doesn’t yet exist 😂

    I've watched this myself a few times over now and it's still a trip to see how much went into this. This video was only a fraction of the work that went into it as well. Check out the full playlist here if you want more in-depth info on any thing you see on the boat!

      When I first started watching your videos on this boat I didn't really like the white color that much. But over time it grew on me and now I like it so much I'm painting my jon boat the same color (except semi-gloss). haha I really like the way you have the anchormate on the front. I've been trying to buy a similar mount for my boat but that style is sold out everywhere. This was an exceptional build. Great work!

    Excellent build, great looking boat. This was a very informative video, especially the products you used in sealing the wood. What size is the motor on the boat. Again great job.

      It was a 9.9hp, ran really nice! Thanks for the comment :)

    This is a great jon boat build, also love the color looks nice and clean! I would have wanted a bow mounted deck instead of the anchor, but that is my preference. How did you decide the center seat could be removed safely and still keep the boats rigidity? Is there a place somewhere you can do to find this out? I have a small utility boat I would like to remove the center seat on and I've seen other people weld an additional rib in this case.

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  11 місяців тому

      There was bracing on each side of the bench seat so the seat itself wasn't proving much bracing. If the seat was the bracing I wouldnt have removed it.

    Looks great! What carpet brand and color did you get? … Where did you purchase from?

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  2 місяці тому

      I went with an "Automarine" carpet from Menards. I believe it was just listed as Gray.

    You didn't use any marine plywood? What thickness of plywood did you use? Did you put cloth on when fiberglassing? Did you think about using hydro-turf at all? Looks good, great job.

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  2 місяці тому +1

      I used hydroturf / eva foam on my next and current build -- I love it! It stays nice and cool and hooks don't get caught up in it. I used 11/32 ply and sealed with the fiberglass resin, no fiberglass mat was used, just the resin to waterproof.

    Learning from your videos! Did you ever have problems with the epoxy on bottom of boat cracking? Aluminum has flex to it, and epoxy does not.

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  9 місяців тому

      No issues, it's all about choosing the correct epoxy. Some stay flexible and those are suitable for bottom coatings while others can be brittle and should be avoided.

    I decided to not remove my middle bench seat. I don't have any ribs in that area. Did you attach the flooring wood to the boat?

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  Рік тому +1

      Yes I did, I used small stainless screws into the ribs

      @@mvboutdoors excellent! That’s my direction too. I just put the fiberglass resin on my transom pieces. One side. Fans and air cleaner going.

    How stable is this boat without the foam? I’m just curious for my build

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  Рік тому +1

      The interior foam doesn't add any stability or flotation, it's only there in case you get swamped or capsized

  • @skeets6060
    @skeets6060 Рік тому

    How much do you think you have tied up in this build?

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  Рік тому

      Excluding the motor it was around $1500 for materials, all in all it wasn't too bad.

    What size boat hood for me and my two boys? Looking for a decent size jon

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  4 місяці тому

      For an adult and two kids I would recommend no smaller than a 1648, that will give you all room to move. If you can go bigger, I would!

    You removed ALL the flotation but never replaced it!?!? Surely you're not counting on those sheets to save your investment if things go wrong! I would suggest filling those "storage" spaces with empty soda and milk containers as a form of "damage control".

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  Рік тому +1

      There was more foam added back in all areas of the boat than was removed, no worries there.
