  • Today's video is on getting NINA set up for use with Mallincamsky. NINA has many tools that add to and improve your Mallincam experience. This is the first video in the series. Links below are provided for the software needed to make this work:
    ASTAP and Databases www.hnsky.org/astap.htm
NINA, Image Repository, and Cache nighttime-imaging.eu/download/
If you have older eyes as I do. You may find focusing difficult. With NINA's Autofocus routine. It will no longer be a problem to get awesome focus in less time than it might take you now.
The Sky Atlas and Framer are some of the best tools in Astronomy today and if you are like me and like to use Stellarium. I'll show you how you can set up Stellarium to pass the target location data on to NINA's Framing Assistant to slew and center on the selected target. When you are happy with where the target is in the frame. You can then do your Autofocus. From there you are ready to move over to Mallincamsky to start your session.
Jumping back and forth between the two programs becomes second nature and in short order, you will wonder why you weren't doing something like this before... ;-)
Look for the next video shortly... This will pick up with the start of a night's session with the CGX, AR102, and DS62. The other rig is the CGX-L, C14, and DS24. Hope you like the video...

Great video. I've been using NINA for about 5 months with a Mallincam and a QHY600. Learned more than few tweaks just from this video. Looking forward to your next ones.

Hi Jeff! Useful video. Just installed an e-focuser to enable remote operation... I hate feeding these Florida mosquitoes. Learning NINA (and Hocus Focus) to manage OSC and narrowband imaging sessions, and its performing brilliantly so far (although I will need a few iterations to adjust to different user interface). Looking forward to trying your best practices and the autofocus routine next time I go out. Thanks for patiently and expertly showing the way. All the Best! Dave

Thanks, David The next video shows a session and the middle portion will show how I had to tweak the Autofocus settings to get a better curve. Should be out in a week I hope... ;-)
