I should've watched this before returning to the gym. I was sick for two weeks, enough to just stay at home and not even go to the grocery store for a week. I was pretty devastated in the first week of training, my cardio was down the drain. Like I was exhausted doing just technical judo and everything in the weight room felt heavy, a 60% set at 6 reps felt like doing a failure set and like lifting +80%. And to make things worse, I thought that was a good time to start a new program. After that week it felt like I should've had a whole month of volume capacity training and more hypertrophy oriented training, ramping up slowly from barely a training effort before entering that strength program with accessories. I could've easily had a week of easy training with some volume and then go to only the strength movements without accessories, adding the accessories as getting used to the training, like I think the strength movements with accessories were already more intense than I had been used to before in general, not just after being sick.
To my defense, combined I lost a whole month of 3-4 month summer vacation and I had only one month left for training seriously before school semester will eat up schedule, stress levels and recovery in general. So I felt like I couldn't have a month or even a week of "no progression in training" or I would be worse off at the end than when starting.
