Hi Tony and Jan, we have been avid viewers of the channel since you started and have finally secured our first narrowboat. It would be great if we could perhaps meet for dinner somewhere so that we can pick your brains about some of the practicalities of life afloat. Unlike you we are southern softies and will only be cruising April to October. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Colin
Hi Colin many thanks for being a loyal follower! ❤️ And congratulations on securing your first narrowboat, I remember that feeling of excitement staying on board the first night (although everything was still in boxes all over the boat! 🤣) Any time you want to meet up, drop us a line - email address is on here somewhere, or contact via any of our social media channels.👍
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal is quite beautiful! I adore the old stone bridges, leafy trees over the water, and random farm animals ♥️ England steals my heart. Hope to get there someday! Wonderful vlog! With Love, daughter Katie 😊
Awesome vlog! Always very informative… How cool is that…Paul and Anthony What beautiful markers…made me tear up. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.

Yes, I think we did mention what there is in Adlington for boaters - the marina/pub/takeaways/park. Peter Kaye lives in Bolton and lived in County Tipperary. He may well have lived briefly in Adlington, but the people we highlighted were "born" there.
62ft length is considered the maximum, but even at a little over 60ft as we are, we had to go in diagonally in some locks, especially Wigan. And then, opening the bottom gates saw us having to reposition, opening one gate at a time. Add in the fact that every single lock leaks - some worse than others, and you'll have that to contend with as well. With a wider boat at maximum length, it would probably be even more problematic. So I'd say 58ft is the maximum to be comfortable.
For information William and Nathan were Leonard's cousins. Leonard sen's grandfather, Isaac, and Nathan and William's grandfather, also Nathan, were brothers. The family were originally farmers from Haigh but came to Adlington where they nearly all became stone masons! They also had very large families with often repeated names! 😃
Thanks for enlightening us, was hoping someone could help explain the family connections. 👍 I was considering drawing up a family tree but it would have taken up most of the vlog!

Beautiful country. Thanks for the dining tips in Adlington. Glad they offered open arms hospitality to stranded boaters!
Our pleasure Frank. The boating community really does come through in times of need.

Another lovely vlog, accompanied by some very nice music. Such a joy to watch.
Thanks so much Elizabeth 😊
It seems wherever you go you find stoppages. The best made plans !! However you make good vlogs from your interrupted travels.
Ha! It probably explains why no one ever wants to cruise with us...so much bad luck 🤣
But thank you for your lovely compliments ❤️❤️
Now that is bringing back memories! Malvern and Laura nb TOTORO 😀

WoW don't mess with Jan she is super fast!! (the fast gate paddle bit) Well I thought it was funny anyways. I really love the two of you! Thanks

It's got to be closest thing to heaven 🕊
There's plenty in Adlington for boaters. Peter Kay allegedly lives or lived on the A6 there, in what used to be Ryan Giggs's house.

Can you tell me the maximum length of a 10' wide canal boat is to be able to cruise from Leeds to Liverpool? Thanks in advance.
