I got no issue with multiple enterprise series, I just want good Star Trek stories and series developments. I don’t want crew drama and romance (if it slowly develops over 175 episodes, that’s different than half the episodes out of 20). I don’t care if it’s got nostalgia as long as it’s done right, and not just to pander.
One storyline they should pursue in _Legacy_ would be Seven's time with the Fenris Rangers. They sound like an interesting group, I'd like to know a bit more about them.
The Fenris Rangers would be a very dark series...they mostly tried to keep crime at a minimum with limted resources and were considered "vigilantes" to the Federation. I recommend you read "Firewall" from David Mack ...its an amazing book
I disagree with everything but the Titan-A. I like the Titan-A, but would like to see a newer Enterprise. That said, I'm excited at the prospect of Star Trek Legacy. Give them a break, lets not shoot "new trek" in the foot before it gets a chance. We NEED more Star Trek period. Legacy gives us a new take on what happened after STNG! I think your analogies are a bit off, I think most of us are quite eager to see the different story lines and most people have a good enough imagination to separate the different "Enterprise" story lines.
Fans of Trek sure, easily seperate. general audience might find it harder. I have no problem with a Star Trek show, set on a ship, with Seven, Raffi. It didn't need to be the Enterprise, and the crew didn't need to be populated with nepo babies.
One of the most interesting characters in generation is Worf. He has appeared in DS9, Star Trek VI and all TSNG movies, but no one talks about a spinoff about Worf as the lead character. I couldn't wait to see him in Picard season 5.
If a Legacy show is going to happen the first thing they should do is explain that they named the ship Enterprise only temporarily for the big todo at the end of Picard. Then put Titan back on her haul and send her off with Seven of Nine in the captains chair and the rest of that crew. And slow way down with all the cookies of past shows. Some is okay but let the crew of the Titan-A make their own new memorabilia.
I like this video, and your point of view...and its understandable and makes sense, but I think its really flawed and the opposite of how you see it. First of all advertising would be great. Sure timelines within one series has been messed with and also past, present, and future....but never different series all being threatened by one crisis. And you make the story so well-written, interesting, and dire....that the audience is so involved they don't care what actors are in it. They are just sucked into the story. Thank you for watching and commenting! I agree that a multiverse or even an in- universe crossover would be epic. The mainstream appeal would be the hard part. Although the new shows are pretty successful, I don't think they are as successful as the TNG era. All the actors from the TNG era are pretty old now and I don't know how much they would draw in. Also in today's media it is increasingly impossible to please the fan base. You can see that in other franchises and in Star Trek. I would definately love to see what you propose, it's just I feel like it's almost impossible. Love your ideas, and so glad you love the video. Have a great day, Trektrav
I’d like to see a 3 season limited setup that ties left over story lines from tng, ds9, voyager and enterprise. Have it be a multi point story that merges the varies cast from different shows. Then set up a bunch of young new characters that progress over it to a new fresh new gen tng type reboot but a generation later filling these young characters a decade later. Maybe even have a referce to pike fate tied in to whatever conclusion….i like the multi time line of the tng finale…just make it more spread by space than time…endin with a major theme on the nature of humans, exploration and Qs test being us testing ourselves now…
I enjoy Seven's acting but I wish they didn't have to kill off Shaw and he remained Captain. Out of every new character introduced in Picard he was the only one that had good writing and character growth. He also even being disliked at the beginning was the only one proficiently doing his job🤣 Oh well missed opportunity and I agree with your takes. Star Trek relies too heavily today on nostalgia that it loses its gravitas. Plus, you are correct in the Titan take. When I saw the rename coming I was like "Oh nooo...Come on man"😂
Shaw was a huge misstep. I agree he was brilliant. I also think if they had developed Elnor better then Picard wouldnt need a random son, you could have had that dynamic with Elnor.
I honestly think Trek needs a break. They've over-saturated things to a point beyond anything we'd ever had before, and its just making their general lack of care obvious as things aren't even matching up between different eras on the same timeline and you can literally just flip over to an episode aired a week before from one of the other shows for examples.
I hate to say it but I absolutely see the point you are making about what audiences recognize. But the main stream audience is 20-50 and honestly more people in that demographic and those who skew on the younger side are going to have more connection to TNG era trek. There was FAR more presentation and syndication of the show which saw far more young eyes. Remember, a 10 year old watching TNG during its run would be pushing 50 now. Its a different perspective when you come from the under rather than the over. People who grew up before tng look at it as usurping but ultimately assuming the mantle of trek. Whereas audiences who came in after see it as the standard and see TOS as references, and there is an odd one way disconnect there too. Thanks to Gene wanting to keep it separate, there are not as many references as TNG probably needed. TNG really gives very little reason to go back and watch TOS if you never have. So I do not think the TNG era is as obscure or secondary to as many people as you think it is. The producers who put these things out mostly came before it and as such they see it as it was to them, Not the way it is to the generations who grew up with it in random daily life as they grew. I think at most its kind of on hold till we get to the point when the first TNG era char gets recast which is inevitable.
@@TrekTrav They love Discovery because they don’t know any better. They need the opportunity to have some real Star Trek for their generation, as I did and as did my father before me.
@@DavidPysnik "Real" Star Trek is subjective. Gene would de-canon most of the TNG era, most of the movies, the third season of TOS. Real Star Trek holds the message of a positive future and acceptance of difference. Of which the newer generation of Treks do.
So basically, your problem with Star Trek Legacy is it doesn’t push the message season one and two of Star Trek Picard was absolutely atrocious season three of Picard was what the entire series should have been like Star Trek. The next generation most people want Star Trek like that they don’t want Star Trek Academy gender studies classes they just want Star Trek they don’t want the woke ideology shoved down their throat.
@@TrekTrav I think you may have missed the point. Star Trek is about progress, not being “woke”. In the world of Star Trek, all of the identity politics that are a big deal now are totally normal and mundane in their future. Star Trek is at its best when it is post-woke, where Federation society has been so just for so long no one even understands how it could have been any other way and the old hatreds and stereotypes of our day have been long forgotten. Today’s wokeness is an overreaction to the old traditional ways, not the end result of a society that is essentially, as Sisko put it about Earth, paradise.
@@DavidPysnik You say that but all the complaints about New Trek/ Discovery in particular was about even showing gay or trans charactors. It was about even having them there. I have had conversations on Facebook, UA-cam, Reddit where they claim it's the "woke" agenda and then that person suddenly jumps to talking about Trump, The Bible, and their hatred of anyone of the LGBTQIA community and people of colour. It's almost constantly someone trying to say 'I don't want to see those people in my Star Trek's .
In making too many series and movies Star Trek could end up like DC and Marvel where they have put so much content that now is fatigue. These IPs need to have a break.
Star Trek is the original universe. The trick is not making series for the sake of making series and making sure each show has its own tone and style. Which is one thing the current Trek series have, a unique look and style for each.
Things are moving so fast with Ai that it's prohibitively expensive this year. Notice that used to be, I'd say "prohibitively expensive for now". Meaning that maybe we'd see it 4 or 5 (or 10) years later. But if you've seen Sora, you understand that we may very well se Legacy next year or even towards the end of this year. That software is advancing at warp speed because we now have humans using ai to help create better ai. So I really wouldn't be surprised to see Legacy sometime in 2025. Made by humans who used Ai to bring the cost down by a factor of 1,000.
@@TrekTravI don't think they're going to have any choice. Eventually, you or I will be able to do it. And I think that's that, it's over for them. Many have said hollywood will die as a result of this.
@@TrekTrav I can agree with that. But then I’m also getting well fed with prequels and nostalgia. What many of us would like to see is more 25th century material. Doesn’t need to be old crew, Q or any of this. But a continuation of the Starfleet story. 25th century also has room to build up to the temporal cold war from the other side.
@@TrekTrav I watched the first season… but I really can’t stomach anything beyond that. I think Discovery’s big problem is tone and pacing and lack of direction, not when it’s set or the “demographics”.
Season 3 was over reliant on nostalgia. Everything including the plot takes a backseat to nostalgia. It was ludicrous for them to name the Titan the Enterprise G. The Titan earned its name. But nostalgia was more important. It's definitely the nepoprise. Jack Crusher after his actions should be in prison, not in SF. Jack's flippant comment about nepotism wasn't too far off from the truth. There had to be some kind of coverup to get him into SF. I see Jack as a war criminal because he voluntarily became Vox, he was high as a kite when he's a Borg and before he becomes one, he expresses his admiration for them. I'm done with nostalgia. There's too much legacy based shows on TV. It was fun at first, but now we have a ludicrous number of them. I don't think I could watch another legacy based show now. PIC season 3 was my breaking point. With that said I think a Legacy series of novels or comics could work.
There was a ton of nostalgia but the plot hardly to a back seat to it. Picard season 3 was more about fixing the complete crapshow that was season 1 and 2 and allowing for a proper new Star Trek series. The whole point was to put stuff back into a reasonable state where a new series can be made that is not "current year and/or doesn't mess with established characters from the past. Basically Picard season 3 reset the TNG era back to before Picard season 1 and wrapped up some unfinished story lines. This was absolutely needed. Basically if you think Picard season 1 and 2 and or Discovery was good you would hate Picard season 3. Considering the ratings of those shows, you would also likely be in the vast minority. Strange new worlds is better but they have gone way too far into the Kirk era. It is just another side show that completely misses the point of the original series.
Season 3 worked not just because of the nostalgia bait, but because of everything new, which they absolutely nailed. Shaw was one of the best characters in recent years and an instant fan favourite; his relationships with his crew, Seven and Picard was terrific storytelling and acting. Jack was compelling. Seven was excellent, a logical continuance of her character development from the very beginning. The Enterprise G quickly won a place in fans' hearts, owing, again, to good storytelling. Even the CGI was a step up; the showrunners took the complaints about Season 1 to heart. Whatever Trek does next has to be new and fresh. Picard showed us what such a show would be like, which is why the fans want it. Seven, Raffi and Jack can form the nucleus of something special. It worked when Discovery soft-booted Strange New Worlds, which is easily the best Trek that we've seen since Deep Space Nine. Oh, and about the Enterprise G: truthfully, I agree, the name change was unnecessary, even with the precedent of A Voyage Home and Deep Space Nine. More, I strongly believe that the Enterprise E should've been the ship being decommissioned, not the F. Regardless, there is something deeply satisfying about Seven becoming captain of an Enterprise.
More to do with charactor backlog. If you have children of an established cast you not only have their background but what their parents have been doing for 30 years.
Sorry but that is NOT the original Enterprise in SNW. It looks way too modern and does not resemble the original Enterprise from TOS. And yes I get the fact that this is not the 1960s. However they still could have done a better job making the Enterprise in SNW look closer to the Original Enterprise from TOS. The view screen on the bridge of the Enterprise (in SNW) should have had a smaller rectangular shape like it did on TOS.
PicardS3 is trash. I don't even appreciate the "fan service" because it doesn't actually give us what we want. Even though it's been nicknamed Legacy it doesn't have to rest on nostalgia to be a good show. I would argue actually that nostalgia doesn't work that well generally because they often misread what fans want anyway. They didn't follow up on anything they did in the previous two seasons, it's basically like they didn't happen. What I think would have served the fans is a story that did bring back Picard and his crew to wrap up some dangling threads from the shows and movies then have them hand the reigns off to the new crew of the F. Just imagine the plot from Star Trek Resurgence with the Picard cast instead as the main line for the season with mini arcs to cover Sisko and Bajor's status post dominion war, the impact of Voyager destroying the Borg Collective on the Delta Quadrant and some hint of what the artifact in Discovery S5 will be with a prelude or cross over. Shit they could've even given us more development on the Temporal War or just more deeply explore Picard's connection with artificial intelligences like Data, Dasha and the Borg. There is so much potential for good story making in the Star Trek universe and what we got instead was Picard S3.
I dont think Legacy will happen at all cause who it gonna watch it for more than one season. all female crew with 1 token male character. yeah no and when and if it bombs they will just attack the fans again just like they did for those who were vocal about discovery blowing chunks as well as those who disliked picard seasons 1 and 2. what they did to the titan was just bad. you do not rename ships. they should have just kept the enterprise f intact and given 7 the Titan A which should have been the t6 version of that class in star trek online (admittedly I do not like that class's narcells too flat and the pylons could be curved a bit more) NOW what they could and should do is create a star trek franchise "Star Trek : Fleetyards" now how this franchise within the star trek universe would function is that you create 1 ship where it stays for 2 and only 2 seasons at the end of season 2, you have a new ship and one character from the previous 2 seasons as the capt of the new ship and rinse and repeat. Multiple ships, multiple crews and new stories to tell and it might have to be episodic instead of taking an entire season just to tell a story. also I like how the neo consitution/constitution class looks, have not watched strange new worlds, but from what I've seen of its consitution class it does resemble the tos enterprise so I'm sure it does well, gonna have to get paramount some day just to watch it. as for the JJ enterprise, yeah not a fan of its design and that wont change cause his movies are non stop action and not much else, but atleast his focused on the crew of the ship more than just the ship and one of its crewmembers.. looking at you burnam. Now I said at start for more than one season because it would be considered Alex Kurtsman's secret hideout's work and depending on who you ask and whether the source is legit, they may be looking to break ties with bad robot and secret hideout. as I said Star Trek : Fleetyards how I said it should go would be the way to go imo or they could go Star Trek: These are the voyages of the IKS K'rthar of its ongoing 5 year battles.... and ha ve it set in the tos era or pre era kirk edits: too many typos
Strange New Worlds has a predominantly female crew. 4 female, three male. Personally the sex of a ships crew means nothing. The fleetyards idea is interesting but I don't know what the stories would really be like. Although a series that steps away from a starship would be nice. DS9 esque. I think Secret Hideout and Alex Kurtzman will be around for a while. Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks, Prodigy and Discovery are very successful. I don't see them going soon.
There is only one USS enterprise the original 1960's one. The Chris pine movies are a blight to Startrek. I will never watch a Chris pine movie waste of money.

It was fine because it's probably our final adventure in that Berman universe
@@Cailus3542 might not be so much the enterprise name as much as the look of the class itself. should never have renamed the titan- A.
going by all you have said the main problem is too much crossover casts and storylines
@@GeorgeCarlinWasAGod Then it's not the original Enterprise in TMP. I have zero problems with the redesign, making it modern works tonnes better.
I dont think Legacy will happen at all cause who it gonna watch it for more than one season. all female crew with 1 token male character. yeah no and when and if it bombs they will just attack the fans again just like they did for those who were vocal about discovery blowing chunks as well as those who disliked picard seasons 1 and 2. what they did to the titan was just bad. you do not rename ships. they should have just kept the enterprise f intact and given 7 the Titan A which should have been the t6 version of that class in star trek online (admittedly I do not like that class's narcells too flat and the pylons could be curved a bit more)
NOW what they could and should do is create a star trek franchise "Star Trek : Fleetyards" now how this franchise within the star trek universe would function is that you create 1 ship where it stays for 2 and only 2 seasons at the end of season 2, you have a new ship and one character from the previous 2 seasons as the capt of the new ship and rinse and repeat.
Now I said at start for more than one season because it would be considered Alex Kurtsman's secret hideout's work and depending on who you ask and whether the source is legit, they may be looking to break ties with bad robot and secret hideout.
as I said Star Trek : Fleetyards how I said it should go would be the way to go imo or they could go Star Trek: These are the voyages of the IKS K'rthar of its ongoing 5 year battles.... and ha ve it set in the tos era or pre era kirk
edits: too many typos
So you never saw it but judged it anyway?
watched 10 min then removed blue ray and gave blue ray disk to somebody i work with
@@TrekTrav I bought the Blue ray and watched 10 min. Was disgusted by what I say and shut movie off and ejected . Threw blue ray into wood stove. Have a nice day.
