- Welcome to this video, which is a part of the Outdoor Painting Series. This is a new abstract painting technique, I used acrylic ink on watercolor paper alongside natural materials. It was a beautiful fall day, and I incorporated dried leaves and pine needles to create organic shapes and textures in my painting. Please feel free to leave any questions you have in the comments.
😍😍😍
Could you make a list of the materials you use in each job? thank you!
I love this!
Thank you!
So fun and beautiful! 😍 Thank you for sharing! 🤗
Thanks for watching!
Love this technique! The added metallic gold is a nice a addition. Very lush!! Do you pre wet your paper before placing natural things on top to start the process?
Thank you! Great question. It depends on the paper. I did it with this paper both sides. It was a thick 300g hot pressed watercolor paper.
Thanks for this. I love acrylic inks so I will try this for sure. Is that water you’re putting on the page with the brush at the start?
Yes, that’s water. I hope you enjoy as much as I do. 🙌
Maya, these are beautiful. I'm just getting started with mixed media though I've painted in oil for years. What kind of paint are you dropping into the acrylic ink? So far, I can only find a dry pigment I must mix with water myself. Anything better you can suggest?
I use acrylic ink with water, acrylic mediums as acrylic varnishes or pouring mediums.

Hello there! Preschool teacher here :) interested in creating something similar with my friends at school. Can I ask what you used at first to help the inks spread as well as they did ? Any tips and tricks would be appreciated :)
Hi, if you wet watercolor paper before using ink, it helps spread. Also if you use acrylic ink I am not sure it is proper for children but you can do it make watercolor very liquid and pigmented as ink.
Do you mix the paint with water to drip?
I wet the paper first. But if you like light colors you can mix ink with some water too.
