Turns out she's actually one of the best characters in the show
An already good show mind you. Due to how good rogue one was, I gave the benefit of the doubt that tgey were just pandering to promote, but the story was well written without that in mind

this is BS, I just watched the series and she clearly has respect and appreciation to her direct under which is a man; and her decision was denied by her superiors which are men with good reasons, even she admits it: "this is a hunch" she says, and she later explains the reasoning of her hunch with "this is how I'd do it"
Reply: "well when you have more data and a bigger picture come back to me and we'll discuss it" which is understandable (albeit frustrating when it happens to you and you later end up right)
Her direct under is an effeminate subservient man. She has no reason to lash out at him. How come that an empire dominated by white male patriarchy has so many women and diverse officers at top levels? Btw, we barely seen any scene with her. You know she's gonna be increasingly annoying.

Unfortunately in legends, the Empire was discriminatory towards females, seeing them as just above aliens in the hierarchy in regards to imperial institutions - Admiral Natasi Daala and Major General Corvae from legend being examples.
However, the episode released and Dedra isn’t a girl boss. I assume that was simply what the actress saw her as, and not as how the character is portrayed.
You are wrong, look at her, she knows everything and the old man is an idiot who has no clue, the black man is trying to just bury the death of a bunch of corpos. You can already see ho things will turn out, she's gonna solve the case and teach these dumb men a lesson. She will arrest Andor and then some stupid man will fuck it up.

She's been shown as a girlboss in the latest episode. Telling some beta male to get shit done or else...They would never portray a male officer like that without immediately showing that it was toxic behavior.

Even her superior, major Partagaz who was supposed to be that arrogant fool standing in Dedra's way actually listens to her and somewhat mentors her, because he recognizes her talent.
I also like the dynamic between Dedra and her assistant with whom they clearly respect and appreciate each other.
So is Dedra Meero the strong female character? Sure she is, but so far she is also a good character.

You'd think it'd be obvious that surrounding a misandrist woman with inept men to make her look good by comparison is not really a good writing technique for portraying truly strong women, be they hero or villain, but it thoroughly escapes the hacks writing today.
The Imperials, especially their intelligence agencies, haven't exactly been shown as having the most capable personnel on-screen. So it's not like anything's changed?
Good thing that Andor is well written, though unfortunately that fact seems to have eclipsed you.

She made it sound like the show would indulge in that terrible trope that pervades Hollywood productions these days. If Disney would rein in their employees, Andor might not have flopped in terms of viewer numbers. It also doesn't help that most of the "Star Wars" content Disney has put out has been utter garbage.

This was a terrible interview as the show was nothing like that. Dedra is a fantastic character. It was interviews like this which stopped some people watching the show right away.
If Disney was going for the “If you don’t like it don’t watch it” vibe, they certainly succeeded on that front.

I will say this review makes it seem worse than it actually is, in the show there hasn’t even been any talk about sexism or anything else political, which is why it’s a good show thus far
