Poor Mark, he is the one that was the most invested into the series and the one that got hurt the hardest.

@@NitpickingNerd the problem is that he and the rest of the main actors from the OT were given working scripts of ep. VII BEFORE George sold the Star Wars franchise to Disney. To elaborate further, Lucas and Michael Arndt were working together on a script for VII even before the future of Lucasfilm and Lucasarts were being shopped around to the big studios, and when Lucas was touting the future of the franchise, he mentioned he wanted to start production on the sequel trilogy that had the approval and availability of the major actors in the OT to work on the ST. Then when Disney bought Lucasfilm and Lucasarts, they trashed the material Lucas and Arndt were working on, Lucasarts in its entirety was trashed (Disney has very little clue in producing videogames, I think the last game they ever really had involvement in with any remote success was Split/Second,) and other forms of media were discarded such as the novels, comics, and merchandising, and everything involved since has been replaced with incredibly inferior works.
Its not self centered at all Mark. The entire fanbase wanted the old characters to be important.

Disney never intended to make coherent sequels with a good story that will last, all they wanted to do was selling industrial movies, or should I say "products", as effectively as possible.
It was all about communication / propaganda / publicity. As soon as you had paid your ticket in the cinema, they won.

They won a short term victory. Then people realized that their movies are worthless crap and they started bombing. Now they stop making movies because it's too risky.

I mean, that was obvious from the beginning. Anyone who thought Disney spent 5+ billion to just please the old fans/what the old creators wanted is a fucking idiot. They specifically pay that amount of money to gut a franchise and wear it as a skin suit. Any original fans should have known (as I did) what that meant when they signed the deal. Even if you didn't at that point, they made it extremely clear with the early announcement of the expanded universe not being canon. That's the point at which all old Star Wars fans should have said, "Oh. They don't want us."
And what a damn travesty that it wasn't.... even for just a second.

The world isn't fair. And I'm sick of that being the case.
It wasn't that Han, Luke, or Leia weren't the frontline characters again, it's that both the actors and their characters were effectively wasted. Rewatch that trilogy and tell me Rey couldn't have otherwise done almost everything by herself.

Having 3 humans, 2 Droids and 1 alien in your film is pretty diverse.
Plus Finn was one of the bright spots of TFA, I think most that disliked the film would agree it would've been better with Fin being the main protagonist, but we know that black doesn't sell well in China to the point Disney literally photosshopped him out of the movie poster.

It was SUCH a huge opportunity to let the old cast have epic entrances and hand over the plot to the new guys, but nope the director was just way too stupid to do anything like that.

@Hero of Kush They replaced Cloud city on Bespin with a casino in Cant Bight. In ESB the film starts with the rebels fleeing a snow planet. TLJ ends with the rebels landing and hiding in a snow planet, i mean a salt planet. They literally remade the movie backwards and thought nobody would notice.

Star Wars is about more than just the failed sequels. There’s new shows coming out to look forward to (which hopefully this channel isn’t dumb enough to rip on).

You read the scripts Mark. You shouldn't have done them, but you wanted the money and now you complain.
He didn't. He signed with George Lucas before h sold to Disney, the scripts were secret. Then George sold to Disney and they rejected his script. The script for TFA was revealed at a roundtable just before filming when the movie was well into production. I assume there was a window for Mark to walk out of the project but honestly he didn't have any reason to. They would have fucked Star Wars even if he refused to play in it.
