Buena Vista Social Club was a renowned Cuban music group formed in the late 1990s. It was named after the members' gathering place in Havana, Cuba. The ensemble's music was a blend of traditional Cuban styles, including son, bolero, and danzón.
The group gained international fame after the release of their self-titled album in 1997, produced by the musician Ry Cooder. The album was a huge success, winning a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album and selling millions of copies worldwide.
