He came to Turkey in 2002. I was little but my mother attended the festival. She bought his album, we used to listen to this album day and night for 1 month. Whenever I listen to this album, I go back to my childhood and pure happy memories.

My aunt burned this album on a CD for me when I was in 3rd grade. I’m 23 almost 24 now and this album will forever hold a special place in my heart. It reminds me of my childhood and reassessing it now and reading the lyrics I find so much more meaning and sentiment in it.
Yesterday i opened Winamp after a long time to listen some greek course lessons and Winamp opened the last thing i was listening - Manu Chao playlist. Needless to say that i forgot about greek lessons and started listening Manu :) That's how great his music is!
I was 18 as this masterpiece came out. Initially was like a secret - only passed from friend to friend... I can't remeber that I saw a corresponding videoclip on MTV. But I can remember how a buddy showed me the music first. My buddy did not speak Spanish and asked me to explain the lyrics... At the same time I was like "Wow, wow, wow!!! Never heard something like this before... so simple, so genious, but yet so familiar...", that was the moment I felt spontaneusly in love with this Album. It is February 2021 by the time of this writing. I'm in Germany. Still society is fighting against Corona. On one of my many walks I do during the night, I followed the drum sounds I heard in the air. Then as I appoximated the music group, I saw and heard a group of young people singing"Clandestino" loud and full from their hearts. I started smiling and at the same time tears came out of my eyes. So beautiful to see, hear and feel, when people passionately sing those songs, feeling their sadness and hope all at the same time. It raised my mood confidence: "this shall also pass". 💖🙏
My aunt who is fluent in Spanish and a social worker for Hispanic immigrants gave me a burned copy of this CD when I was 10 or 11 and it will always be one of my favorite albums. Still has the same impact on my adulthood like it did my childhood.

Este álbum es una leyenda. Nadie sabe donde se grabo, tiene sonidos de radio y películas de los lugares que visito al grabar este álbum, tiene un sonido totalmente exuberante, es mi álbum favorito de manu chao y uno de los mejores álbums de música con tema social que haya escuchado.

Antes de irme a clases de inglés por allá entre 2013 y 2014 ponía este disco, era costumbre al principio poner solo las tres primeras canciones porque el resto no me gustaba y luego avancé a escucharlo todo en mis ratos libres. Pero hoy lo recordé con 18 años y no me arrepiento de escucharlo entero otra vez.

When I was 18 and had earned my very first wage, I went to a small record shop in Berlin. I bought several records and this was playing the entire time. I got my Beatles and Pink Floyd albums and... this. I love it so much. Happy days, thanks Manu Chao.

Por volta de 2000, estava com um amigo e seu pai indo para um sítio, quando o pai do meu amigo parou em um camelô e pegou o CD do clandestino aleatoriamente. Escuché por primera vez este año con mi o.g. (amiga de mi hermana) que ya tenía EM en ese momento. Creo que todo me lleva de vuelta a esa época y tengo sentimientos cálidos y relajantes al respecto. No estaba tan apurado entonces como ahora, pero la velocidad también tiene sus ventajas y me hace muy feliz y cínico.
Sin duda su mejor álbum. Si bien Próxima Estación Esperanza parece la continuación de este álbum, el toque melancólico que tiene Clandestino es insuperable

I think that was the intention on the original recording. I remember wandering around southern Mexico in the early 2000's listening to this album on CD (ha!) constantly. It always struck me that even though the CD was skipping to the next track, the tonal segue was always there. Now, listening to in streaming and seamless MP3 format it sounds more fluid than ever..... hasta la ultima ola!

Este disco fue un exitazo en España, sonaba sin parar en los taxis, los bares, en la tienda del barrio, todo el mundo cantaba a Manu Chao pero esta canción ya es un himno al buen rollo y la alegría.

Peguei a trilha para a Praia do Sono, em Paraty/RJ, e coloquei esse disco pra ouvir no percurso. Somente eu, os bons sentimentos, a vegetação juntamente com a paz que subsiste naquele momento. Apertei um fino e me deixei levar pela magia. É um disco atemporal, com efeito sonoro terapêutico, delicioso de ouvir, tão poderoso e vivo que te faz companhia, até mais do que se houvesse presença humana por perto. Um puta disco. C'était l'album préféré de mon père (né en 1933 et qui avait beaucoup voyagé au Mexique, Amérique centrale et du sud). Nous l'écoutions en boucle dès que nous faisions de la route. Que de chaleureux et émouvants souvenirs ! Un album qui traverse et traversera les générations !
.... que de bon souvenir, elle m'a accompagné pendant mon adolescence et elle m'accompagne toujours aujourd'hui. Cette énergie, cette chaleur, cette vérité, ça manque de nos jours. My aunt burned this album on a CD for me when I was in 3rd grade. I’m 23 almost 24 now and this album will forever hold a special place in my heart. It reminds me of my childhood and reassessing it now and reading the lyrics I find so much more meaning and sentiment in it.

Yesterday i opened Winamp after a long time to listen some greek course lessons and Winamp opened the last thing i was listening - Manu Chao playlist. Needless to say that i forgot about greek lessons and started listening Manu :) That's how great his music is!
I was 18 as this masterpiece came out. Initially was like a secret - only passed from friend to friend... I can't remeber that I saw a corresponding videoclip on MTV. But I can remember how a buddy showed me the music first. My buddy did not speak Spanish and asked me to explain the lyrics... At the same time I was like "Wow, wow, wow!!! Never heard something like this before... so simple, so genious, but yet so familiar...", that was the moment I felt spontaneusly in love with this Album.
It is February 2021 by the time of this writing. I'm in Germany. Still society is fighting against Corona. On one of my many walks I do during the night, I followed the drum sounds I heard in the air. Then as I appoximated the music group, I saw and heard a group of young people singing"Clandestino" loud and full from their hearts. I started smiling and at the same time tears came out of my eyes. So beautiful to see, hear and feel, when people passionately sing those songs, feeling their sadness and hope all at the same time. It raised my mood confidence: "this shall also pass". 💖🙏

Antes de irme a clases de inglés por allá entre 2013 y 2014 ponía este disco, era costumbre al principio poner solo las tres primeras canciones porque el resto no me gustaba y luego avancé a escucharlo todo en mis ratos libres. Pero hoy lo recordé con 18 años y no me arrepiento de escucharlo entero otra vez.
Aun recuerdo mi juventud en el sur de Chile escuchando este album...Y ahora en el sur de Francia recordando esos no tan viejos tiempos.

A maneira como descobri esse cara foi a mais divertida. Por volta de 2000, estava com um amigo e seu pai indo para um sítio, quando o pai do meu amigo parou em um camelô e pegou o CD do clandestino aleatoriamente. Fomos ouvindo na viagem, e foi engraçado pra caralho. Aprendemos a cantar Bongo Bong durante a viagem. Bons tempos.
Que gran álbum, recuerdo ir escuchándolo en casete en un personal stereo desde mi casa hasta mi trabajo en una micro un largo recorrido desde Chiguayante hasta San Vicente por allá por el año 2000. Lindos tiempos.
En mi caso mis días amigos del liceo lo escuchaban ( año 99) teníamos 18 años y eran muy buenos para fumar hierba. Así que tengo buenos recuerdos de éste álbum saludos desde Concepción jajjaja
Escuché por primera vez este año con mi o.g. (amiga de mi hermana) que ya tenía EM en ese momento. Creo que todo me lleva de vuelta a esa época y tengo sentimientos cálidos y relajantes al respecto. No estaba tan apurado entonces como ahora, pero la velocidad también tiene sus ventajas y me hace muy feliz y cínico.
Me parece genial el uso de sonidos de la radio y la cultura popular latinoamericana. Para mí, su mejor álbum.
De fondo se escuchan diálogos de la película mexicana "Hermelinda linda".
Sin duda su mejor álbum. Si bien Próxima Estación Esperanza parece la continuación de este álbum, el toque melancólico que tiene Clandestino es insuperable

One point rarely mentionned: the transitions from one song to another one is really clean. It's really well edited.

I think that was the intention on the original recording. I remember wandering around southern Mexico in the early 2000's listening to this album on CD (ha!) constantly. It always struck me that even though the CD was skipping to the next track, the tonal segue was always there. Now, listening to in streaming and seamless MP3 format it sounds more fluid than ever..... hasta la ultima ola!

Este disco fue un exitazo en España, sonaba sin parar en los taxis, los bares, en la tienda del barrio, todo el mundo cantaba a Manu Chao pero esta canción ya es un himno al buen rollo y la alegría.
