Articles may have criminal or Civil nature ...which also know as quasi nature and in sections we always read in code -for example CPC ans CRPC. And section are already defined as per code if it is civil or criminal in nature.Any section of CPC will remain Civil in nature similarly in CRPC it will be criminal . I believe this is correct answer to your question....

In context of Uttar pradesh , Prosecution department was under Department of Police first commissioned batch was 1982 and our batch was first we have chronology as junior Gazetted officer Assistant prosecuting officer ,
Prosecuting officer,
Senior prosecuting officer ,
Joint director prosecution,
Additional director Prosecution and rank of Additional director prosecution is equivalent to Inspector general police,
But now the politics is more that public service commission is not appointing, on other hand contract basis is more prevalent in every state which is not relevant ..
