I'm a plugin guy and this is definitely the next level of Amp Sims. The sound quality is beyond the expected very massive tones for modern metal and the interface is very fresh inspiring and intuitive.
I really appreciate this UX approach. Couldn't agree more with you in that a clean and specious "app" style UX makes wayyyyy more sense on computer screens. Really love Helix for that. Love the tones you got by the way. Great video Taylor!
I've really liked the sound of the Rhino in every video I've seen on it. This is the most in depth overview of the plugin I've seen and you make it sound killer. Great work man!
I wish more DSP companies would do their own thing. So much is possible with digital fx it's a shame most people are trying to model what already exists.
Hey Taylor, Awesome content like always , I have a question, at 4:47 , you're reamping the di through the plugin, How to achieve reamping out signal in the plugin way?
Thanks! When I track my guitars, I only record the DI signal from my interface. If you load the standalone version of the plug-in, and mute your input monitoring on your interface, you can use the plug-in to monitor yourself. Hope that’s not too confusing, I’m probably butchering the explanation. This should be a video in and of itself.
Thanks for the informations! It's a very interesting plugin! Do you think it can stay in the same room with STL and Neural? And for a home production, do you find it professional enough?
For the studio purposes, plugins are more ellegant choice. Sound of them is great, an you don't need a expensive otboard studio, just monitors, sound card, DAW and plugins. For live purposes, Tonex is here, and it's a revolution. When somebody make a hardware component for a NAM, it will be it.
Taylor I bought axe fx 3 but I think it’s too complicated! What’s your secret to make a tone sound great ? Make a video with your “secrets” for a great sound ! Thanks 😊
Actually, you can use the output of your interface to run through a power amp and into a cab. Some amp sims have a stand alone mode, and even if they don't, you can use a plugin host to load plugins in chains like in your DAW, anyway.
@@insertanynameyouwant5311 and? you can still do it. You just need a device that operates at line level, and depending on your interface, you might need an adapter. Any rack mount power amp runs line level, and if it has a 1/4" input it usually will take either balanced or unbalanced, and that's assuming it doesn't REQUIRE balanced. You know what happens when you plug an unbalanced cable into a balanced output that doesn't have jack detection? Answer: it just works as unbalanced. DERP. OH, and guess what? A good 80% of FX loops on amps run at line level, and the remaining 20% is split down the middle between instrument level and having a literal dipswitch or spring button to pick between instrument and line, and some further let you designate pro line (+4 dB) vs consumer line (-10 dB). The auxiliary and main outs on the backs of most interfaces that aren't powered mixers are 9 times out of 10 at line level. I literally set up an old Microsoft Surface 3 tablet to run ToneLib GFX or NaLex AmpLex or anything else I want through a USB interface. I even have a separate, parallel monitor chain, one with cab IR's running to headphones and one direct out, set to run in a live VST host. I have an ART SLA-1 rack power unit, and I have a hybrid half-stack. I tried using a 1/4" patch cable to both the power supply and the FX return of the amp head. Worked just fucking dandy. I even used two patch cables to run some post FX pedals in the loop (this tablet has a VERY SHITTY processor lmao) and it works great. I used a Behringer UMC404HD. I used to do the same thing using my old Zoom R8, and even that shitty old thing has IMPEDENCE MATCHING OUTPUTS. My buddy has a Thunderbolt UA Apollo interface. It works as a go between for the amp sims that come with the packs for Reason, and he can use the DI input on the front, route outputs 3/4 into the FX return on his Bugera V22 tube combo amp or the [External Power Amp] input on the back of his Peavey Bandit 112, then use mics to record those sounds in a separate track in real time with the onboard DSP enabled back into the 2nd onboard input, or into his ADAT preamp. He literally just needs cables.
I`m impressed with the tone you dialed in! wonder which Ir`s they use. DId you have any post processing like mastering? Is it stable btw? Their free stuff crashes on my PC
I think they sound really good, but as broke as I am... I think I'll just have to do the split bass trick and save 80 bucks. If they were a little cheaper it would make sense for me. Not saying that these aren't worth the money... Just unaffordable to me lol
It's a hard sell for companies to keep making typical amplifiers. Seems like Digital is going to take over in the future. Although I think they're never going to replace the feeling of owning a proper amp head and a cab. So, I hope they never stop making amps.
The Rhino sounds pretty damn good but the Mammoth was depressing. Very digital and splatty (though, this could be the settings used). I did not find the sound to be very inspiring for bass (I am biased being a bass player myself) and like most bass plugins, it was pretty limited in features/options. The UI is certainly interesting but I did not really enjoy the layout that much.
Alright, so maybe we still need amps, but you have to admit these are KILLER plugins. Let me know what you think below! 👇
Thanks Taylor for absolutely killer video
🙌🏻 easy to do when you make great plugins!
Hey @Aurora DSP do you plan on making rhino available as a iOS plugin like you do mammoth? Thanks for all you do
@@mobilemetal4554 yes sir, we're working on it
@@AuroraDSP that makes me extremely happy. Mammoth has totally changed my songs. I will be impatiently waiting. Haha. Thanks for replying!

The UI has style. I dig the look.
Yeah, very nice to look at!
Thanks for the decent demo song. It was so good it made me want to play the guitar instead of spending 600 hours on switching between cabinet IRs.
Very forward thinking and sound great!! All the props to Aurora DSP for making amazing stuff
The in the mix playthrough was AWESOME. The camera work is really cool. Great playing as well

Great Job Aurora - This plugin is the killer... 🎸
The Mammoth is amazing and I know that they are working on a hardware version!
Yes, it's true

I couldn’t record without mammoth. It completely changed my mixes.
HELL YEAH

That demo song is badass maaan
Thanks! 🙏
I just got this and it’s really good! I hope you can also export your settings and share it or save it somewhere just in case it resets or something
I own both of these and they kick ass nicely done my friend.
Lot of cool features in this and the price is good!. Thanks for the video, I hadn't heard of this.
No problem! 🤘

And looks like a no fuss UI to dial-in

Great video brother! Detailed run-through & nasty demo song 🔥💯 I have both of these. Waiting on my new Cort 7 to retrack & upload the demo. Be well ✌🏼
Awesome review and demo, but you missed a feature on Mammoth in the middle where the mammoth head logo is situated.
Great video Man, hug from São Paulo 🤘😉🎸
I'm an amp & pedal guy. But this plugin pretty badass!
It really is good. Lots of potential
Haven't try the rhino yet.
But i own the Mammoth and it's killer for dirty bass tone
Just downloaded mine. Sound amazing. Can you do some presents for Doom (Mick Gordon) tone?

No secrets, I just know what I like. Watch for the Rhino and Mammoth updates. Someone familiar may have some presets being added to them 👀
nice video man, can i get your setup on this video (rhino, and mammoth) guitar and bass setup

but inreface output is usually balanced linear, whereas amp is instrumental, you would need a reamper device

To me amps are kind of like muscle cars. They’re extremely cool and valuable to collectors, but not really necessary for day to day use

Nope, we dont need them anymore.
Both rhino och and mammoth are the best (not one of the best) but the best sims out there.
Wow!!! thats dirty AF
For that bluesy, overdriven, and Australian sound, definitely. But for clean sounds and metal stuff, no.
In my opinion, this interface is very ugly and not intuitive
But the sounds are killer.
