Spruce all the way. Sound and looks. I don’t find it boring at all.
I just bought a spruce top ukulele from your store a couple of days ago! Can't wait until it arrives and this just made it a harder wait! I only wish you'd give little tutorials on how to play those little demo tunes you do like in this vid, they're great - just as good as the full song tutorials you have

Both of the woods are beautiful. I like the spruce top a bit better because it projects more.
I really prefer the sound of the acacia ukulele for it's warm balance, the spruce top had really nice presence and attack.
I love the spruce. The first good ukulele I acquired (after starting to learn on a cheap and nasty one) was an Ohana solid spruce top soprano. It's beautiful - not plain at all, abalone inlaid rosette, purfling, gloss finish - and has the sweetest, fullest sound. I love my mahogany concert too, but the spruce is something special.
I agree- spruce is deeper and sounds great- both do
my alvarez, spruce top youkalele, has a great voice. a much bolder voice than mahogany. and it plays great. and only $100. at times, i like it better than my martin.
The Koa is certainly beautiful with a rounder, warmer sound while the Spruce is brighter with greater projection and more sizzle. The Spruce may this have a bit broader sonic profile or fuller spectrum: Spruce kicks, Koa hugs!
Subtle differences... Spruce had a but more punch while the acacia was a bit more mellow maybe? Both beautiful... I can see the NEED for both! LOL! 🤙
Both sound great. Especially with the melodies you play, a little beyond my current ability. I prefer the Spruce in this video. However I have a feeling that the stronger bass of the acacia might not fully convey via my laptop and headphones, and would be more impressive when heard directly.
I'm surprised that it's such a surprise. I wouldn't touch a mandolin, violin, viola, guitar without a spruce top and as far as richness, boominess, depth, bassiness, warmth between those two, it a matter of construction and support bar(s). Spruce and cedar are just better tone woods for the tops hands down.
I liked the warmer sound of the koa wood uk but I agree, the spruce top kicks butt for brightness and finger picking. And I bet it plays the blues awesomely!
Both sound great but the spruce seems to be brighter and have a crisper sound to me. You said they come with low G. If I was lucky enough to get both, which one would you suggest to get the high G and why? Also, what are the names of the ones you're playing?
The spruce top has more sustain, is a bit louder and makes the uke sound closer to a guitar than the acacia top one.

I typically like the spruce top but this one actually sounds a little boxy to me...I love the look of the solid acacia one...beautiful...you're right, the spruce one is boring looking!
Nice fingerpicking, you make it look so so easy, I like the warmer tone personality, yet I now have more respect for my concert bright spruce top.
