Brilliant! What about if there is an actual hole? I usually pick up stitches and knit catching edges but it doesn’t always come out ‘pretty’ even though it’s functional. Thanks!
I generally don't use this duplicate stitch method if there is an actual hole. In that case I would pick up stitches and knit a sort of patch and then use the yarn tails to secure the sides of the patch. Like you said, it's functional but not always pretty.
I love the pattern on sock bottom can you share it? It looks simple but my mind is not good at deciphering mechanics too well. It really lends itself to the beautiful yarn colors especially the chartreuse main color.
i love this helpful idea but showing it on so many multi colors makes it hard to see what you are doing and where you are going with the needle and I have specific difficulty with the garter stitches type of reinforce. Also I am going to try to use a rubber ball since I do not have a darning tool and don't want to buy yet another possession in my tiny house lifestyle. Do you think a hard ball will work? I love your videos and this is helpful for all kinds of mending. Sometimes even when you scrutinize a sock for flaws they don't become obvious until you wear it a while. Blessings!
I think a hard ball could work or maybe even a small metal or plastic lid. I've also seen people use lightbulbs, just be careful not to break the glass if you're using an old-school glass bulb.

why didn't you use the same yarn as sock?
or did you just use grey yarn so we could see it?
Just to make it easier to see. Normally I would use the same color if possible.
