I have watched at least ten other videos on this topic, many more than once, and still could not figure out the Swiss darn. Before giving up, I decided to try one more tutorial and happened upon yours. It’s the greatest. You are the only person that I am able to follow. Thank you for your slow, calm, and well explained moves. I will always look for your instructions on any topic from now on!

Omigoodness. I have done such ghastly things to so many defenseless socks. The rest of them send their profound gratitude.

Thank you- this is the technique I need. I bought a whole slick book on darning and was so disappointed that it did not include swiss darning! Your video is the best.

This is the best method of darning I’ve seen. Neat and barely perceptible. 👍

I've done this stitch on my favourite jacket and you would never believe it was repaired if it wasn't for the wool I used being slightly darker. I am revising this stitch as I now have a cardigan where the elbow came through. Again thank you so very much.

Yes I like how she demonstrated needle in and out of straight yarn foundation, showed wrap arounds/turns. It was hard to understand her at times but the steps to the knitting were clearly laid out.

This is fantastic! A much neater way of darning. I loved that you kept repeating the stitch so that I could have time to anticipate the next stitch. Thank you so very much.

I was looking for your other mending videos but I can't find them in this channel😢 It seems this is the only one left. This is a great video! Loved that you used a thick contrasting yarn, so it was easy to understand with good zoom, well centered in the camera view and in real time, no distractions, music or unnecessary fillers. Just straight to the point. 👏👏👏👏 thank you thank you thank you!
Hope the other videos can be uploaded again. You explain the process very clearly.

Thank you for your video. I watched a few videos on how to do Swiss darning but yours is the clearest and simplest to understand. And thanks for using bulkyish yarn. It can be so hard to follow if it's all done in baby weight or sock yarn🙂 I encourage you to make more instructive videos. You are very good at it! So I will hit subscribe and hope I see another soon! Thanks again.

This is super helpful. Thank you! By any chance do you know how one would fix a knit overall strap where the damage extends to the last stitches before the end on the side so vvvvvoooov < like that v= stitches o = hole area. I am worried on line of stitches won't be able to hole the mending.

Some other demos of Swiss Darning use sewing thread for the ladders which is removed after the darn is completed. Do you recommend using the same yarn for the ladders as will be used for the repair and leaving the ladders in when you're done? Thanks!

    • @maud6988
      @maud6988  Рік тому +1

I like to leave the ladders in for darning, so it helps with the structural integrity a bit. If you want to remove it, I'd do it in a slightly thinner yarn than what your knitting is made of and have a contrasting color for easy removal later on.

Is there a way of fixing a hole in garter stitch with a similar method?

  • @ЛарисаСергеева-т1ж

В данном случае можно было просто поднять петли и все. Если дырка с разорвана большей площадью, то собрать на спицы и провязать, до соединения и времени меньше и красивей.

I think your technique is sound and the video’s alright, but it’s not super beginner friendly so i do think folks like me just trying to patch a hole for the first time should know that. I spent a lot of time just trying to figure out how much yarn to use & how to thread the needle

She did a very good job with this project and her voice was quite soothing, but, for me, it is so difficult to actually get a handle on how this is done. Hard to see exactly what is going on as to where the needle is placed. Seems almost arbitrary even though I know she did a good job. Maybe if one were to watch this video several times that would make it easier to know exactly what she is doing to replicate the knitted stitch.

Nice tutorial but it’s pretty impressive that the talking is still too slow even at 1.5 speed
