"Just because you can use CGI doesn't mean you should." If he wanted to make an unrealistic action packed "fantasy" movie he simply should have made LEGEND 2
At this point in late stage Hollywood... We're in the crappy "Straight to Video" era in terms of quality and quantity. This why I and countless others left mainstream entertainment behind in the late 2000s - early 2010s for gaming and UA-cam content.
Exactly. I knew it would be bad and unnecessary, but I was surprised by how insulting the movie actually is. It's a shame, but I'll try to erase it from my memory. I very rarely share a sentiment like this, but I am genuinely embarrassed for everyone involved with that project. The ending with Zimmer's music is one of the most unearned moments I've seen, btw nothing was memorable musically from Gladiator 2. The script just happens, nothing evolved naturally. The protagonist had no chemistry. It insults the legacy of the first movie and the impact of Maximus' sacrifice. If people find this movie good in any way, then I understand why Hollywood keeps producing generic slop that insult people's intelligence. I regret watching it and I regret purchasing a seat. I hope it bombs.
I liked the scene , shot of Lucius, at the end, but. ( spoiler) Why he wanted his father to talk to.him.at this point? His father was good at fighting, not ruling empire. He should have said these words before final arena fight.
im an empathic person, always trying to do at least my best to understand people i dont agree with, but people raving about this movie goes beyond me, i heard people saying its the movie of the year, some even the movie of the decade. some indeed predicting best picture oscar....what in the actual fuck? did we declined so much as an audience, our we so dummyfied by the years people consider this as great? this is style over substance drenched in 80% nostalgia bait. pretty pictures but if you reflect on it you see clearly how poor and definitely lazy its written.if these kind of movies become the benchmark of what people see a s a great movie, boy i fear the future. this movie symbolizes everything wrong with the movie industry today.dumb things down, make it shallow but pretty and the pleb will be entertained!
Gladiator 2 is worse than thought. I struggled through the first 54 minutes today before giving up. It's a waste of time. The whole movie doesn't work. You can invest the time better... It so boring that after 15 minutes I started playing games on my phone. The whole story doesn't work, the main actor doesn't touch me at all, the two Kaiser twins look like actors of a cheap low budget film in their first scene. The woman dies right at the beginning before we can even develop sympathy for her. And she dies very quickly by an arrow in the compartment! That means she did her job and fell in the process, so the whole revenge motive doesn't work. Why avenge a fallen soldier? And who deserves the revenge?? In Gladiator 1 it worked because the woman and the son were innocent, and very brutally murdered. But this is completely different here. And in the first part we know who Maximus is and why he is a great warrior. None of this works in part 2. We get the main actor, whose secret / identity we already know if you have been careful before, that was already revealed in the run-up to the film, but otherwise as a viewer I do not understand what makes the character a great warrior. We just have to accept that as a fact. It's an insult to the first part and the great performance of Russell Crow. And where is the opponent? The bad guy? The general is obviously not an evil man. The emperors are emperors who behave like any emperor in such films. But why you have to get rid of them now is more likely to be left to the imagination. It is not like the first part that the emperor poses an acute danger to our characters. So what is this really about?
Since we've mentioned Jaws' sequels while delving into the inviability Gladiator II, I feel its only fair to ask if the shark beat Maximus back to Rome? 🦈
@@elephantden If they'd have found a way to put sharks on chariots, Caesar could easily have conquered all of Britannia, and Ireland too! Men in kilts are no match for sharks - they'd have made haggis of them, with a side of kilt!

Thaannnnkkk youuuuu!!!!
Yup, it sucked.
Gladiator 2 was lame, uninspired and not worth my time.
There was no need to make this movie
Russell made this movie his own i adore the first gladiator way too much to watch a second
Don’t think you can separate it bud, and I get it, the original is a masterpiece.
