In this video I am comparing:
The Noodler Charlie with Noodler Heart of Darkness ink
The Wing Sung 601 with Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo ink.
Which pen will come out on top?

I specifically now buy the 4.5oz Noodler's ink to get more Charlie pens. Just wish I could buy the pen separately.

Maybe it's the angle of the camera (but I doubt it because with regular nibs everything looks normal), you seem to write with the hooded nib rotated almost 70°, as if you don't understand which side is down.

Agreed. That's what it looks like to me as well.

Thank you. That could explain some of the issues I have been having with it. I'll try and monitor how I am holding it. When recording I do need to hold pens in a "not normal" way due to the only place I can film the overhead being different than my normal writing position. I'll monitor the way I am holding the pen to adjust it to the correct position.

At this point I have 3 sharpies and love them all. As for the 601 it just don't strine any bells for me.

If you are using Heart of Darkness in all your pens be careful. You may need to clean and flush the pens more often as the ink becomes sluggish after a while. It is a great black .

Thanks, I'll watch out for that. At the moment I only use it in the Charlie, but I am looking at putting it into a TWSBI Eco with an F nib. I'll hold off that for now and keep it in the Charlie pen.

I know it would be hard to trim back for invisibility, but would nylon thread tape solve the problem of the constant need to screw the tip back down?

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a try.

Do you get lots of burping from the Charlie? I heard if you carry it around it leaks.

I only use it on my desk so haven't really seen anything due to traveling around. I also only use it for a couple of minutes - so again not really seen anything from my hand heating up the body.

It depends on how you carry it. It has an ebonite feed, so the ink flows more freely than with plastic feeds. If it’s clipped in a shirt pocket, there isn’t much of a problem. If you put it in a pants pocket, it will likely get a cap full of ink. Also, it’s good to keep the pen full as much as possible. Air inside the barrel expends when it warms up and causes the pen to burp ink.
