Unbelievable presentation this morning, not just the cpu architecture they designed, but the packaging and the technology involved to get the heat off the system is cutting edge, Musk is driving the world economy as of today and has taken the baton from apple I believe, the robot will be interesting, I assume this will get weekly live updates similar to the cars going forward, great summary 👍

I have a lot of questions still Anastasi.. but I know you are making more videos so I will wait and see if you answer some more of them in those lol. This was great though.. you gave me a little more grounded understanding and context of what they showed.
I am curious to know your opinion on something.. as someone in this field, does what you saw in the presentation fill you with any interest in leaving the good job that you already have, to go work for them? And I mean that in a general way, not only you specifically. Do you think that the presentation would excite hardware and software engineers enough, to leave other good jobs they may already have to go to Tesla to help develop all this? Or do you feel that electrical engineers would not chase this kind of project? If they need a job they would maybe go there.. but if they already have work, they would not interrupt their life to go pursue this. I know you can’t speak for everyone.. but maybe you would hear others where you work and what their outlook is also and have some insight on how much this kind of presentation might inspire great engineers to leave their jobs to go help Tesla with these challenges? I guess I just don’t know how challenging and rewarding hardware and software engineers generally find their work to be in the industry.. and would what Tesla is showing, really inspire more then just a couple to go take on these challenges that might feel more rewarding to conquer in the end? 🤔

As a deep learning student, I think that the AI chips and everything Tesla explained about the working of their AI algorithms and software tools were very cool. I may have to go through their AI explanation a few more times before I can get a better understanding of their FSD architecture. Tesla is definitely doing some awesome stuff with AI and chip design.

People like Anastasi are the people that Elon attracts into his fold. Brilliant people who just get him and his level of understanding of what technology is at its core. Good for you! Truly. Good for you! Please stay away from click bait - robot ... it is way too early, and was ONLY introduced to get mass attraction and it worked. You got the truly important part. The rest was about training and learning and why Dojo is needed NOW. It is like people could not do Computerized Fluid Dynamics without super computers - now they have Dojo to do visual dynamic modelling !! Amazing stuff still to come. That's what they need Dojo for and for training on board computers in cars which Dojo will be linked to ... the entire network, which is why other legacy companies better start talking to TESLA if they want to stay alive.

IMO its not DoJo alone but the way they were developing and innovating to come to the first iteration of Dojo. And it will be only a first iteration. Many more will come. And their guts, their chuzpe, their "we are not afraid of drawing faster then our shadows". Its a lifestyle. Aim for the retaurant at the end of the universe and you will reach Mars faster. Aim for the infinite improbability drive and you will get the roadster, Look for harnessing vacuum energy und you will get a 4680 battery cell.

I guessed right on the humanoid robot, couldn't imagine anything more exciting to attract talented engineers and it seemed also a missing link for living on Mars. Can't imagine building out a whole city without robots that can work on the surface. I was especially impressed by how much work they did on autonomy both on software and hardware. On the software side they've had to restart several times. If Tesla can work itself up to the top in any field in a few years then what does that say of the pace of innovation in most companies?

@@excelrobot Boston really did a lot. It's just they never were focused on AI, and that is entirely fair. After all they have mastered motion better than anyone else so far and by a long shot. It's just their robots aren't AI focused. Atlas does not do its parkour because he was given a vague task and figured out how to do it, it was pre programmed to do a very specific set of complex things in order. Spot works the same, it can follow waypoints, be remote controlled or try to follow a given target, but that is it.
The Tesla bot is not revolutionary in it's agility or physical ability, but it is because of the software that is going to drive it.

Build something you are interested in working on. The experience of the hurdles and problems will pay big dividends later. Plug into the maker community in your area and online so you know how stuff gets designed and built. There's a good deal of information online, the challenge is in learning the right things to learn. You E.E. or M.E. career will be enhanced if you understand about multiple disciplines of work. Get that experience by doing. Build something you would like to see built. Don't let anything stop you.

Congrats for getting so many things right 🙂 thanks for making such a great recap!! I agree that software will certainly be a complex part, but this system looks "reasonably" symmetric and regular, so if the memory handing is really much faster and uniform, it might actually be easier to optimise for it then for a bunch of GPUs..

Brilliant!. This is Anandtech quality coverage in the details. Well done. Thank you. Yes, 400watts for the D1 chip on 7nm node certainly requires water cooling. I am more thinking this chip inside TeslaBot where the total power consumption would be close to 2Kw max or 1.2Kw average. Thus, Elon's estimate of the Bot's weight is probably 50% off. This iRobot style assistant is most compelling to me and it is doable within 2 years.

    Nice presentation of the hardware.
What about discussing the tasks the training software performs, when running on those megachips.
Basically transforming all the footage samples into a vector space for all items on the road. Like a truck taking over, that generates a vector space (made of matrixes) from which the inference engine (installed into the Tesla car), can recognise any truck taking over from any angle under all lighting conditions. Vector spaces are generated from Dojo for pedestrians, dogs, etc, and are regularly updated. It is a mathematical miracle.
It has been a stroke of genius, for Tesla, to separate the generation of vector spaces (calculated in a data centre) from the inference engine (installed in the car); in this way they can achieve a level of artificial vision otherwise impossible. This does require a number of genius programmers tho...
    Thank you...

  • @08wolfeyes

What a wonderful video that clearly explained this supercomputer.
I find many videos fill their content with other pointless information just to make the video either longer or because they are trying to talk too much about other things that aren't important to the subject being spoken about, well done.
I'm by no means an expert when it comes to such things but i do have an interest in this kind of thing as well as other advancements in A.I and technology in general yet i feel with this video i have learned more in eight or so minutes than i have in many videos i've watched.
I think we need to look more at the human mind so that we can improve such things because when you look at the amount of power we use when creating chips such as these and the amount of heat they generate, we still have some way to go.
Plus of course, we need to think about A.I that can look at and change it's own programming ( Which is already being researched ) as well as have hardware that is able to equally adapt and change as needed.
When we start making such changes as well as having many chips or whatever we replace them with in the future, that each performs a different task using A.I and connecting them to one another, then we will see A.I that becomes conscious!
