- We are resellers selling on eBay and locally in person. We go around to yard sales, garage sales, estate sales, private picks and scavenge the FB marketplace to find items and to reseller for more online. We occasionally buy an abandoned storage unit or do property clean outs to gather inventory.

We did lots of selling of arcade machines and have had many times where someone would buy and pay for a machine from us and then disappear or sometimes comeback several months later wanting all their money back because things changed.
I've had this happen before too. It's insane how people will operate and just assume you'll clog your inventory for them. Had it happen with THOUSANDS of dollars in magic cards. Never did hear from the people.
I would absolutely refund part of the shipping.
I was charging everything at priority for stuff 1-9 pounds, changed it all to ground advantage 2 weeks ago, and zero change in sales.

I sell big items on purpose. I usually make another $30-$40 on every big item I ship
If you watch my short I got called a thief for not refunding.
I didn't do this on purpose but the fact that the person was ok with the charge was enough for me to be ok with the charge
@@fasttalkingflipper yeah I seen your short. I probably would have refunded the buyer for a gross mistake like that. I would never pass on my shipping discount. But if I made an error and the shipping was way off, personally I would refund. I want my buyers to have a positive eBay experience. Not wonder why they paid so much on shipping. And maybe never buy another thing from eBay again. Repeat buyers is a small part of my business. I know when I find certain items like vintage Kawasaki, I got a buyer in Japan that will scoop them up within mins on me posting them.

I think it's interesting to hear each other's view points and see how they would do things. At what do you refund? $3? $10?
@@fasttalkingflipper I agree! And I think about what the buyer would do if they realize they were shafted. I myself would refund whatever portion makes the transaction fair for both sides, so that no interaction between buyer and seller would happen. Again, that's just me.

@@fasttalkingflipper That's true! I wasn't thinking of it like that. If you said shipping was $25 bucks for a 1 pound item and the person bought it, then okay. Yep. I was thinking of it differently before.
@@fasttalkingflipper Oh yeah, you said the weight was X pounds but it was really much less at Y pounds. So it just comes down to if the buyer realizes that and wants an interaction or a negative feedback without the interaction.

These fools don't understand what we do. instead of them wasting gas and time driving to 5 different stores to find the item they can order for a great price what they want and have it delivered to them and it's like opening Christmas packages all year round. Ship and handling fees means supplies to pack it with,printer ink,labels,bags,tape,pens,marker,staples,padding,boxes,mailers,gas to take it to the post office.none of this is free to us and it's a business.we even have to pay for anything that says ebay on it they dont give it to us free either. I have a ebay store i pay rent for and lots of fees on top of that to ebay ...if you are opposed to the charges then please do not order. In eBay 2001 sellers charged 1.00 for the item and 70.00 ship and handle because eBay never taxed us on the ship.i talked to a lawyer and the post. The law is you can't charge higher than the USPS for a stamp but you can state and charge handling fees.
If you buy from any large corporate online you ever see that crap at the end? It says 12.00 shipping and handling for that pen you want to buy. Ship and handling is factual just like tipping for a dinner or cars require gas. It costs and it's necessary .
So eBay did away with all of that years later and taxed both sides. I have a friend that was selling on eBay before me he was the 2nd eBay seller ever when it started in 94 or 95. I paid eBay 400 a month for my store in 2001 which was the same cost as renting a store front in the south. I made my choice back then raising my baby as a single parent. We had a blast watching sales by the hour and going to post office 3 times a day Everyday it was open. It takes a lot of time and money to be a reseller it's a job and a business.if you don't like it jump in that car after you spent hours calling around to stores asking foe that item that hang up on you.drive 100 miles to go get the dumb thing and buy gas and lunch on the way. And maybe nobody even has that sucker. Look at all the time and money you just wasted when you could have bought it online. Facts are the facts.
