Update though..... Am now living indoors, have my veterans pension..... Severely broke my leg, andthe medical rehab facility I went to had really good case workers that got on the benefits that I'd so long turned down.
That's great to hear Walt. If I was living off of a military pension I'd go live like a KING in Manila, Philippines or Thailand. You have access to a large VA hospital in the PI, could afford a few massages every week and gave $ to spare!

He talks about being warm and clean as an accomplishment, rather then his work in the tech field for 30 years........my heart goes out to anyone trying to just keep warm and clean and find a place to sleep. You are worth and capable of so much more then those things.
It just shows that *anybody* can wind up homeless. It's not just relegated to "drunks, addicts, and losers" like too many people like to believe. It could even happen to *you! That's why we need to push for policies that help these people, cuz this could be any one of us, and are a lot of our neighbors. We have got to stop dismissing homelessness as some sort of moral failing and see it as a failure of society to honor its responsibility to care for its members, especially the most vulnerable. And I say to those who believe that this is - or should be - a Christian nation. A real* Christian nation wouldn't be happy with people living on the streets, or going hungry or without healthcare, or bully and harass immigrants who come here seeking asylum - or even just someone who's different. Until we do that, this country will continue to go downhill.

Nursing homes and personal care/assisted living homes are ALWAYS looking for musicians to play for them at a reasonable price (usually $75.00-$150.00 an hour). You have a great personality, and are very talented. Very few flute players go to nursing homes to play and Residents would LOVE to hear the flute! If you would do 30 minutes to an hour they would think that was awesome! Many of the musicians will play two facilities in a day to make money. If you can make up a professional looking flyer and send them to the nursing homes, or email them or call them I'm sure they would love to hear you play. Also, if you could put an example of a few songs on You Tube, they could watch it and go from there. Go Walt! :)
