    THIS overtone exercise started to make the tone matching “click” for my brain, ears, and mouth. Playing along and matching your tone and mine along together finally made me understand WHY I’m practicing this, and BOY! What a difference! Thank you SO SO much, I’ve ingested your content like a starving saxophonist. I LOVE what this has taught me!

    Trying to match the overtone sound with the normal fingering sound is brilliant. So that’s why playing overtones is so valuable. Thanks for making it all so clear and doable.

    Always searching for info on blues, embouchure, altissimo, etc.and your vids are THE BEST I've came across - thanks so much for making these available. I'm 63 and playing for quite a few years and still can't get into the altissimo range but now I have much more time to dedicate to actual practice. Man I just want to say thank you for your vids. I'm working through them to get better and I have to tell you how useful your videos are. They are all complete accessible lessons. You don't advertise some paid for course on your site and offer half a lesson, which is fairly common with other YT sax channels. Your videos are informative you often have pdfs to go with them. You also offer that extra little bit to make all this stuff more interesting, like the bugle call and as if that's not enough you pop in the Coltrane/Brecker exercise. Absolute legend mate, making sax accessible to everyone.
    Big shout out to your altissimo explanation hands down so interesting and the best little tips inside to open up that next octave as an option.

    Hi, great video, thank you. What do you suggest for those notes that "haven't got" harmonics? For example A, Ab,G,F#, F, E without octave key. What can we do to improve our sound in that range of the instrument?

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  4 роки тому +1

      That's a really great question. The answer is that improving your tone using overtones isn't note specific. As you improve your sound by tone matching the notes that have overtones you're also improving your embouchure and refining your vocal tract fo every note on the sax. So don't worry, those notes you mentioned are gonna improve anyway. Hope that helps and let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. J:-)

      @kennyr1161 4 роки тому

      David Dillaway try changing your tongue position (putting it in a “heeee” position) and don’t move your embouchure the point of this exercise is to make sure your inner voicing for the notes are right. So try to move your tongue positions and Opening your throat.

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  4 роки тому

      Try altering the speed and direction of the airflow. Instead of a "warm" slow airstream aimed straight through the mouthpiece, try and make the airstream faster, a bit like you might put your thumb over the end of a hose pipe, and aim that faster air up into the top of the mouthpiece. IT just takes practice though. Sometimes your set up can have an impact too. It's easier with a harder reed, but low notes are harder of course!
