I watched a video of a guy by the name of Casey Creamer, he is a saw doctor that specializes in those big circular saws on how to hammer the blade, and other things such as the tension of the blade etc. He mentioned that if the blade is veering one way or the other in the cut, it is due to improper sharpening of the blade or the blade is getting hot from friction ie: rusty blade, incorrect rpm of blade or forcing of the blade into the cut. His UA-cam site is The Northern Logger.
Amazing to see how you have progressed. Havnt watched your videos for over 2 years now. Just caught up. Great work Troy! Perhaps a full homestead overview video? Would love to see the rest of what you have done!
Looks like a great machine for cutting wood. I am about to get a 12x24 foot garage and turn it into a lab for me. Electrical, plywood on all walls with insulation and lighting and of course wood prices had to climb sky-high before I have bought any. I think I would prefer adding some belt guards over certain places. Never know about loose clothing, etc. Sounds like you did real good on that sale of the other mill. : )
I like the new saw mill...it doesn't tie your tractor up, leaves it free for other chores like skidding logs to the mill without having to disconnect and reconnect the tractor....great job on the sell of the old saw mill and on finding this replacement, you get this one figured out you'll be in business, this new one is light years ahead of what you had before, not that your old one was a bad mill, this one is just setup for ease of use and time saving....as for all the additional pulleys and such, its not really all that complicated or failure points, those are all sitting on bearings, so keep it greased and you'll never have problems...maybe a belt replacement occasionally but for that kind of mill having belts is a nice thing, they'll slip if something binds up, where the chains on the old mill would break, or break other things, and you have less maintenance to do on this new mill, grease all those bearings up, and probably do so before each run of the mill and it'll serve you well for decades.
Not sure what part he is stuck at. The carriage rolls over the tracks. You need a way to move the carriage. The old mills used a pulley system with cables to move it back and forth. A drive pulley was moved forward or backward to put tension on either the forward or reverse drive belts to move the carriage.
It was a straight six ford, I remember. I sold it a while back. Gas engine. 500 rpm on the blade. Check out my recent videos and see the Franken-Mill I am building now.
That governor looks like the same type of governor that is used to control any Lincoln Welding generator such as the Lincoln SA 200 to 400 series generators. Most of those governors worked by vacuum that controlled the throttle as soon as the vacuum dropped. Check for cracked rubber hoses or for a vacuum hose that may have vibrated off while in transit to your house
Old video. However your end pulleys for your feed cable are fixed. They should be where they float. A fixed end pulley tends to pull the carrage out of alighnment.
Hey Troy I have almost the same setup as far a straight 6 motor and manual transmission. My question for you is what gear should I run the transmission in when cutting logs? Thanks in advance.
I want to eventually. I would have to either remove the sheds I currently have or put the barn over them according to the township. I have to figure it all out.
Keep watching and you learn what it all about learning and teaching, so we can pass on the info to the kids of tomorrow so they can have a better life and help make the world a better place

Hello Troy I see that you have a lot of subscribers why don't you try LBRY you can take all your subscribers and your videos you're in charge of your content they will not block you they pay better than UA-cam .60 cents per subcriber hope that helps.......
Could be worth trying to build a new channel there but most of my viewers here will not follow. They do not want to try new platforms. Believe me, I know. I own DIY Tube.

That's pretty neat that you have your own sawmill now. I hope that works out well for you.

hope u make some vids on your build we all read plan to make guard for it
If you saw where I stand when this is running you would not be worried. I am very well protected from moving parts on this mill.

we have manes log for it, i am trained mechanic and lot more
It sure is a nice mill.
Do you have a video of it in operation?
I have some videos of another one like it that I had before. Just search Foley Belsaw in my vids.
Currently building one, need ideas for the carriage. Hubby thought he had it but is stuck. Any tips ?

Most interesting mill on the net.
How many hp is engine gas or diesel?

Interesting. Thanks for that. I have another one coming here soon.

Hey Troy I have almost the same setup as far a straight 6 motor and manual transmission. My question for you is what gear should I run the transmission in when cutting logs? Thanks in advance.
I ran mine in 2nd gear which is what the previous owner did.
You should build a shed to protect that saw mill
I want to eventually. I would have to either remove the sheds I currently have or put the barn over them according to the township. I have to figure it all out.
👍 Thanks :-) 🛠
Oops there were typos in my last measage
