It’s funny how much crossover so many game companies have, and thus, how much crossover we have in our mutual era. (I did a video on F1 WORLD GRAND PRIX that went into the history and drama involving Paradigm Entertainment in that era, and it’s fun seeing what sticks out when you’re going through while parking your metaphorical narrative car at a different part of Paradigm’s history. Good stuff!

Point Of View had a TREMENDOUSLY good business relationship with Midway. They did A LOT of home ports of their titles going as far back to the Sega Saturn/PS1/N64. Mortal Kombat Trilogy, NFL Blitz, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, Spy Hunter, Freaky Flyers, Red Card 2003, TNA Impact Wrestling, etc. Shame they aren't any more.

Absolutely right, we went a bit more into detail on the past relationship between the companies in our Smashing Drive episode! Thanks for watching the show!

These 2002 videos really are proving to be just as much a history of arcade games as they are gamecube

I swear I didn’t expect this either. History works in mysterious ways. Promise next episode has no mention of arcades tho 👍

absolutely, it's really interesting seeing how the industry pivoting from arcade to home was a far more extended process than is often acknowledged

I loved playing the original spyhunter as a kid on a "midway greatest hits" cart for my N64, and when I finally saw a brand new 3D reboot had come out for PS2 I was beyond excited! This game absolutely nails the feeling of being an effortlessly cool secret agent taking on the bad guys. The G6155 interceptor has never looked or played better, and I love the black paint job you get halfway through the campaign. Spy Hunter (2001) has always been one of my favorite games: a textbook definition of how to reboot a franchise for the new era!
