    Thanks for posting this. We love the TRE and TexRail. We use both services often to get to DFW Airport or downtown Dallas.

    Thanks for this informative video. It is nice to see there is a good commuter rail service between two of Texas largest cities.

    Very cool station building. I wish they kept up with it more!

      Me too! I really wish the upper waiting hall was open, or at least more accessible to the public. I think so many people consider Union Station as just the tracks and platforms, but the station building adds a whole other element to the experience.

      @@LonestarTrips It is a beautiful ballroom upstairs, but the entire Union Station was renovated by the Hyatt Regency Hotel who book the ballroom for weddings, anniversaries, conventions, etc. DART funded the redevelopment of the platforms and the city funded the redevelopment of the former downstairs baggage claim and parcel package areas into the present waiting room. While the present waiting room isn't gorgeous, it is a nice waiting room serving Dallas passengers riding Amtrak well. Eddie Bernice Johnson was a former city council person and a US Congress person... During the heydays of the railroads before Amtrak, the platforms were accessed by a sky bridge from the upstairs ballroom similar in manner as Harrisburg, PA....

    Great Video - i would say i would have liked to see all your nerd info at the end made small enough to see it all. I know some wouldn't be able to read it but all that information would be cool to see all at once. Very impressive!!

    Coach 1053 on this train here was actually built by Hawker Siddeley, and is actually a primordial ancestor of the Bombardier Bi-Level, built to different standards long before Bombardier bought out the coach design. 1053 was originally built for GO Transit in 1978, and later sold to TRE in 1997.

    • @LonestarTrips

      Thanks for the insight! I was under the impression that they ran exclusively Bombardier Bi-Levels, but it's cool to know that they have an ancestor in the fleet too!

    I love your content and don’t want to be a critic, but I just want to inform you that the line at Dallas is the UP Dallas subdivision. BNSF doesn’t even have trackage rights. But they occasionally rent track

    Nice video. Is this ridership comparable to other commuter rail service?
    Be interested to see the one on Texrail. Although they seriously need to get a real horn and get rid of the 101 door warnings.

    • @LonestarTrips
      @LonestarTrips  3 роки тому +4

      The ridership is comparable to other commuter rail services in Texas, but hardly in the rest of the US. It's mainly because the service frequency combined with the lack of external connections makes it difficult for the TRE to compete with systems in say Chicago or LA.
      As far as a video on TexRail, that is coming at some point in the future. I have all of the footage ready, it's just a question of when I want to have it go out.

      @@LonestarTrips Its my opinion the largest crime with Amtrak today is the LACK of a daily service from Dallas to Houston. Surely two of the top ten metros in the USA... Texas deserves much more services from Amtrak...

      @@LonestarTrips Unfortunately the best Houston station is presently the Astros offices... I doubt whether Houston will build a larger station for Amtrak unless Amtrak steps up services to Houston significantly... Three trains per week in each direction isn't daily in each direction as in Dallas...

    These look just like Go trains in Ontario. The seating is so much better than on Go. With Go, the seats are designed in four inward facing sections that are impossible to seat four people comfortably. This way is much better.

      Sadly the Burlington station in Wichita Falls was demolished as was the MKT(Katy) station in Waco and in San Antonio. However the Missouri Pacific and Southern Pacific stations in San Antonio have been renovated, although not being used by Amtrak. The Southern Pacific station in El Paso has also been renovated, it is a charmer... Amtrak is making do with a more modern modest station in Houston, San Antonio, and Fort Worth...

    This is great but I think they need to do much better than an average of 34 miles per hour. Get an electrified high speed line between the cities running at 217 mph (350 km/h) like they have in China.

    • @ronclark9724
      @ronclark9724 Рік тому +4

      The Dallas Fort Worth metroplex is one large urban area. The TRE does get up to a speed of 60 mph in stretches, but with so many stations on this commuter route of 30+ miles, the train doesn't have the opportunity to even top 80 mph, much less 200 mph... Don't confuse commuter rail with inter city HIGH SPEED RAIL...
