The greedy corporate pigs of the entertainment indusrty seems to have played a great role in her demise. She was the object of ther greed. Her health and well being was the last of their concerns. It sucks because it is still like that still today - money, greed and power are the evils that drive that industry.
Marilyn set the bar for beauty. All of her features from her button nose to the slightly puckered lips to the perfect hour glass figure are what all women strive to look like today with plastic surgery. She had it all before plastic surgery took over Hollywood. I think she knew that her image was EVERYTHING and that was why she referred to herself in third person. She understood that her image was what made movies. She couldn't be herself in public because it would destroy the dream.
She was extremely intelligent and had she lived, one can only wonder if the right director could have shed the blonde hair and gotten her into a serious dramatic role. She died at the beginning of the '60s and times were changing fast. She died, frozen in an image that she, herself, thought was a joke. It would have been great to see her in some film about the turbulent '60s. She would have been incredible.
What an elequent way to describe her. In addition to what you said, she also was given a new name, so her reality was was cloudy in who she really was, Norma Jean or this character Marilyn Monroe...
Marilyn was the most beautiful movie star ever, and she was so sad and insecure. I grew up without a dad and have similar problems Marilyn had. Think a lot of issues in her life stem from that. ❤❤❤
I'm bipolar, like Marylin and I don't have good people too.I protect me...I'm living on my own and got to be so strong.I stood up,so hard...medicines and Osho/+The Secret/ help me.If you are biploar too,you never give up!!!Marilyn was wonderful actress and very beautiful woman. She was only 36...so sad.Sweet dreams Marylin!
She referred to herself in the third person because "Marilyn" was a Hollywood persona that she was. She wasn't this person in real life. In real life she had all the baggage many of us carry
I really think "my week with marilyn" nailed it, Marilyn was a movie star who wanted to be a great actress. sir laurence olivier was a great actor who wanted to be a movie star. Marilyn was just wonderful on the screen.
Britishjack: There IS a remake of this movie.... It's called: "Move Over Darling" starring Doris Day and James Garner. Ironically, the "original" movie was done in 1940 called "My Favorite Wife" starring Carey Grant and Irene Dunne. "Something's got to Give" is the same movie just retitled.
@annarntr Marilyn Monroe didn't even really exist as a person. She was a character Norma Jeane was forced to play. She herself said that. Her friends never called her Marilyn off set, only Norma Jeane.
it'd be amazing if people in hollywood now made a remake of something's got to give, and get to finish it and get a marilyn impersonator. so people get to see the and watch the story of the movie :)
"A sex-symbol becomes a thing, I just hate being a thing. But if I'm going to be a symbol of something I'd rather have it sex than some other things we've got symbols of." - Marilyn Monroe RIP we miss you :(
She knew EXACTLY what she was doing. Her skills as an actress were nil, and so she did the breathless eye fluttering thing to get where she wanted. THEN she suddenly wanted to be a "serious actress"
@AmericanEvita yeah i've just looked at wikipedia and the chances of suicide dont seem very high and apparently her housekeeper, when questioned by the police changed her story several times! i guess the only people who really know what happened are all dead now, and have been dead some time!
About the April 10th ‘ overdose’ is simply not true ! She had on April 10th some costume tests that day, there are pictures of it included the April 10th date
A lot of it was her own fault. Look at Anna Nicole Smith, she was slated even after her death for being unstable and crazy, but Marilyn was no different, apart from being slim and beautiful at the time of her death. It was her own fault
They knew she wasnt feeling well but choose to treat her badly

Is it just me or I think she looks skinnier in this costume test :( so sad..
Marilyn Monroe is her alter ego
Her real persona is Norma Jean.
she also had Jekyll and Hyde alter egos :s
This poor woman went through so much..

i believe that we will all meet her someday
so painful and upsetting to watch this : ( whilst people around her went on to live long healthy lives, she didn't even make it to her 40's.
Marilyn was the most beautiful movie star ever, and she was so sad and insecure. I grew up without a dad and have similar problems Marilyn had. Think a lot of issues in her life stem from that. ❤❤❤
i think of lindsay lohan like this, except marilyn is extremely classy.
With all the problems this poor woman was having, why didn't anyone stop and saym "Hey, this woman is not well, she needs a break from all this?"
@goldyviolet I can relate so much to this woman. May she rest in peace!!!!
She was her own worst enemy ;(
Ahaha! Paused it at 3:02, Love the face, North!

Ironic - 'Something's Got to Give' could have been the title of her life.

Good research! Yes indeed!

She was such a wonderful woman. They don't make them like they used to
Olivier said it best she was a model not a actress she struggled acting modling she had fun

@spiritech999 she was probably an even bigger meal ticket for her therapists (she had more than one).
@AmericanEvita good point
About the April 10th ‘ overdose’ is simply not true ! She had on April 10th some costume tests that day, there are pictures of it included the April 10th date
Muito linda 😍 mas se foi cedo
do they talk about the kennedy affairs
whats the song that plays at 6:19?
@annarntr i think it was, she was a true gemini!
And even Patricia told her to wave in car her sooo that's the kind of thing they did
The Drs forgot the studio knew thjngs
that's how it is in show biz tbh
It was as if marilyn was her alter ego
Lee and Paula were awful for Monroe and she even left in will for them so false giving sleeping meds on set even taking two made her sleepy
no one really knew much them days
Cyd Charisse sounded like she had a British accent.
Sounded American to me. Just well-spoken.
Never had flu at all Drs went aling
Got from father was a false respect he must of laughed at her behind back I'm sure
its as if she didnt own her own body. celebrities as big as her never did own there own bodies.
girls*
did not she know that one can get addict to the sleeping pills?
this will be miley Cyrus in 5 years
I think that in 30 or 40 years, Britney Spears will be seen as the Marilyn of our time
Dillon Waters well 12/2/2017, Britney will be turning 36
i never liked the term bi polar
Meghan Casey Me, either. Manic depressive was what it was.
