I have always been amazed that a deer can be harvested in November, and can be pulled through the woods - up hills, over deadfalls - by nothing but his antlers, and years later those same antlers (if saved as a trophy) will still be firmly attached to the bone of the skull....Yet that same deer in life could have easily shed his antlers a month or two later as evidenced above.
Basically when the deer's testosterone levels drop it weakens the bone at the base of the skull making it soft. This weakening of the bone enables the antlers to pop out. (Obviously there's more to it than that)
It’s very rare to find antlers in the bush, as the porcupines love eating them for the calcium they need to replace that is lost by their diet of evergreen bark.
@@hunterfishman7119 When the testerone goes down is when the buck shed Antlers each buck is different in so many ways. We have bucks here in central TX with head gear leading into June and late July. Most hunters do not understand their's peak in "rut" but deer ( doe ) can be in heat for months before and after the winter. This very true in warmer states that I have hunt in like TX, LA, and FL. The FWC biologist for Lake Mary also confirm my theory many decades ago, and when I found a car-deer-accident and the buck had antlers & it was in June on the road way ;) I have tons of gam cams pic with bucks with full rack into July and even August.
@@kfelix2934 Weird. I'd have guessed that deer, even in the south, would lose their antlers the same time as those in the north. You learn something new everyday, I guess.
This is AFTER the rut, if you Look you can tell the little guy only had antlers on one side so they were already shedding … Also suspect this is a Game Ranch as they look like two different breeds of deer due to the very noticeable size difference and it is not all Age … Both could be white tails but they are from different parts of the Country … Texas Hill Country deer are the size of the one that dropped his antler The other one is more like a West Texas Deer …
In TX I have had buckets with full rack as late as June. Keep in mind deer can be in estrous anytime of the year, just that the rut is in late fall to winter at it's peak. I've personally seen spotted fawns in mid Oct. So doing the subtraction by months that doe was impregnated in March.

the big buck is like "dude it's no big deal, chill"
The one in the back is giant
ha ha ha ha ha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOL
Beautiful healthy animals, nice seeing them.
I was surprised the antler dropped off just like that.
Cheers

You are vile.
I figure they use glue and screws to keep it in place

That one won't be hard to find 👍
UA-cam asked me to rate your comment. I gave it the highest rate. 😂
Leave it alone to live.
Cynthia, not sure what you mean because bucks drop their antlers every year.
My dog chewed my deer antlers I had on display as decorations. Guess he figured I left them out for him 😂
Same!!! Bad dog!!!
My dog did that too lol. I had a big 4 point shed on my coffee table and one day I came home and my dog destroyed it.
That's normal the antler is a protruding bone. The dog figured you gave it a bone.
Doesn't a dog think EVERYTHING is for them?...mine does..it's his world and I'm lucky to be in it! 🤣

That lil buck never backs down I’ve seen him stand up to quite a few older, much bigger bucks and getting a few soft head bumps from them,so cute 🥰
Oh, I Mistakenly thought this 4pt was the 3pt I Follow, but this lil guy Is a brave one Also❤
Seemed to me that the little buck had hopes of that happening ~ just as it did 😉
Wow! I didn’t realize they come off that easily, or is it time to start shedding them? That buck is a big one!
They don't come off easily at all unless it's that time of the year for them to drop naturally.
yeah they can run a jump a fence the hard landing can knock the shed off if they are ready to fall.
Usually they do not shed until march! Earliest I have ever found fresh was mid feb.
This must be far south where they dont have a winter.

Oooh, I hope Ryan got that one!
Antler was made in China
😆

Wrong on both counts, and they are free to come and go as they please 😉
This is in Maine and they are wild. If you go to their live channel the description gives the info. Hope that helps
"Calm down, boy - they just do that from time ta time."
Nice find
Early shedding this year!
Love the channel❤ Merry Christmas🙏♥️
Wow
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ohhhhh wow 😮
Well didn’t have to walk far to find that shed. 😉
this is too early, isn’t it? I’m in Michigan and mine don’t drop until late January.
Same in upstate NY, some hold them well into February.

Dang it's super early for them to start shedding already
I saw the antler on the ground when I checked in, I tried to find when that happen but was to hard and gave up, now I dont have to......
Truth is he was tired of trying to itch it and said f- this! 😂
That's cool
Oh deer!!!
Oh wow
Cool ...
GOOD DEER
I see you have some four legged birds like me
I guess he was embarrassed and ran off in shame.
@@radical1flyin It's called a joke, lighten up.
Almost seems like it startled him/her! 😅
Huh... i never realized their antlers could simply drop off like that at some point.
Yep! They shed their antlers and then when they grow back they look funky- covered in blood and fuzz :D
"Here let me help you out Bob""
Maybe it's a gift for you from that deer.
Wonder if it hurts when they fall off
They are so precious! thank you for caring for their lives 💗 the righteous person cares for the lives of animals... (Pr.12:10) Merry Christmas!
I suspect it itches.
Big buck says, Where’d he go?
Where is the live feed? Are y'all done with the Deer food pantry live feed?
Is it painfuil?
nope it happens naturally which is why the one who’s antler fell of didn’t really have a reaction:-)
I'm sure when it comes off like that it would hurt. Didn't get to see him in the other camera.
It acted like it accidentally dropped a frag grenade
Isn't it a bit early for them to be dropping?
What are they being fed ?

Cheese burgers and onion rings.
Ooops 😱🤦♀️
Is that common? Is he ok?
Just shedding for the season.
It would happen really soon anyway, so he is fine.
He already lost the first one, this is just the other, common occurence. Glad we experienced this is on video.
he already dropped the other side ...like already said its a normal thing to occur every year for a buck !!
He'll be fine. I always thought December is a bit too early to lose them but what do I know.
Now what do we call Lefty?
Hahaha
What are they eating? What's in the bin?
"first time?"
Nice Intro animation…
🫢❤️
First timer
Why did it lose an antler? It broke?
Deer shed antlers yearly
Haaaa
That was cute, she seemed so excited.
Blessings to all ❤❤❤❤
Only males grow antlers,,,that we know of.

This is the deer equivalent of two guys hands inadvertently touching and one of them blushing.
Lost his antler
King James continues his reign! All hale the King!!!
isn’t that super rare
It is kinda annoying how skiddish deer are..

Other one helped him to drop😅🥹🙏🏽❤️
