737s have been doing this since they were introduced into service! When we were working in the arctic we nicknamed it ( 737) the little gravel truck! 👍
The old reliable B737-100/200. Pratt-Whitney powered, still flying today. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'd rather fly on one of these birds than the death traps they have today.
i know it has the kit installed with the deflectors and the things.. but it still scares me a bit seeing those jet engines so close to all that flying dust and gravel
Is that the thing attached to the back of the nose landing gear? It looks like it's sweeping gravel straight to the back and along the fuselage centerline.
@@jmrico1979 I was just watching a Sam Chui video on a 737 landing in the Arctic on a snow runway and it had a closeup of that deflector. It looks like the same equipment is used for gravel or snow runways, anything not tarmac.
Awesome catch! Would you be okay with me featuring this in my series Weekly Dose of Aviation? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description. Thanks!
This airplane has the "gravel kit", the main components of which are a large deflector on the nose gear, and vortex dissipators under and just below the engine intakes. These were very effective.
Оказывается, и Boeing-737 умеет приземляться на грунтовые полосы ? Кстати - а переднюю стойку он специально так мало выпустил, чтобы она не сломалась о неровности полосы ?

737s still look surprisingly modern. I always loved the windshield design

The 737-200 is such a amazing aircraft and I love those ciggerate JT8ds so much

It's just too bad that there aren't many of these left anymore. Even the northern airlines as starting to retire them slowly.
I flew one with a gravel kit, low pressure tyres, vortex dissipaters on each engine and a skid on the nose wheel
WE GOING OFFROADING WITH THIS ONE BOYS🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Didn't know that 737s used to have target reverse thrust. Very cool!
Not target...bucket! Hugely effective!

Exactly. I think just one good chunk of gravel will pretty much destroy an engine.
Is that the thing attached to the back of the nose landing gear? It looks like it's sweeping gravel straight to the back and along the fuselage centerline.
@@fallinginthed33p correct, the gravel kit consists of that stone deflector and high pressure air outlets in front on the engines

I love ur channel lucass! I have been fan since 2 years now!
Yep do it I love weekly dose of aviation too and been watching that for years now.
Can you do my emergency landing video pls I give permission
u don't even own the channel the video was sent on@@alexandre4196
No.
Great rough field landing video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Boeing 737s look very modern for a plane in the 60s
Classic never dies….Try to do this with the 737 Max…. 😂😂
you'll loose your shirt and get hug by the girls.

WOW 😳😳😳😳😳
Bot comment😊
Haha, reminds me of good ol' days doing milk powder runs in Golden Triangle 😂😂😂
Now stuck with A 380 :) still fun tho '
Does it need special tires ? I think this aircraft is no longer flying.
Seems that the plane is doing a tokyo drift... just my perception lolx
Excellent!
I wonder if the tires of that 737 are all terrain or mud terrain.... 😊
737's have been landing on gravel runways in the Northwest Territories for over 50 years. This definitely is not something new.
And the Yukon...we took off from Dawson City in an old 737 and the strip was gravel. They watered the strip before the takeoff.
737 then: so long as it vaguely resembles a runway, I can use it
737 now: door falls off.
Maintenance on this plane must be crazy
nice stove pipe engines (JT8D)
Very good
How does a jet engine NOT suck up gravel on those runways?

ничо се!!

The 737 is from an era where they didn't have proper runways every time yes. The 737 Max etc cannot do this.
В комментариях пишут, что самолёт этот доработан и стоят отражатели, которые не дают двигателям засосать ничего лишнего.
Куда он приземлился?
One tiny spec of gravel in an engine and BOOM !!
That's why they had the "gravel kit".
Are they not worried that gravel would be ingested into the engine?
It has a kit, its made for this. welcome to aviation.
I watch Wien do it in Bethel AK hundreds of times.
Wow, great filming! May I feature this in a video of mine? You will be credited of course in the description and video!
Air travel Canadian style!!!!
MTB? Gravel!
why even make asphats then for planes?
It's a lot _better_ for them, just more expensive. (Same as for cars.)
Because imagine the damage this would do to a carbon composite airframe especially the paint
@@G6JPG who them?
@@Name-lt2tz The 'planes. (And cars.)
737-200? Or -100?!
-200. Only 30 -100s were built, and only one still exists (at the Museum of Flight in Seattle).
glad it's not my plane.
What airport is this…..‼️⁉️👀
It says in the description.
Training
Destroying the engine by letting it ingest gravel.
Nope...note the vortex dissipators under the intakes of both engines. 737s routinely operated off gravel runways back in the day.
It looks like they want to ruin the plane on purpose!
