Warren could you do more basic computer stuff. I know I'm stupid but how do you automate all these VST and DI based programs . You've probably covered this already but I'm stumped.
Joseph Arthur. Very curious about his setup, workflow, collaborators and philosophy.
Moses Schneider

Wow, not sure why I wasn’t aware of this until now. Warren, great interview of one of my favorite dudes! And thanks to Butch for the kind words on our 3 Monkeys Amps, I know it has gotten a lot of use. Warren, I had no idea you were in Star 69! I saw you guys live once and wore that CD out!! Great stuff. - Greg
This is great Warren -- Butch is pretty much a legend at this point. What a career, what a nice guy, and what a badass. Damn,..that Tele Custom.....love that guitar.
Hi Billy, agreed 100%! He's one of the best off the best!
Love Butch since his Marvelous 3 days. He is probably the best songwriter of nowadays, and he has become one of the best producers too. His nowledge as a musician and producer is amazing. Thank you for this video, loads of info to learn from!
Same. The man is a legend.
What could be more amazing than Jellyfish? THIS!!!
Thanks ever so much Brett!! You Rock! Yes, Butch Rocks!!
Fan of Butch since his beginnings! A genuine and honest, hard working talented artist. He should be way bigger than most artists out there today. Thank you for this Warren. You da man
HI Michael, agreed, his resume speaks for itself!
This was the best hour-45 I have watched on UA-cam in a very long time. Watching these 2 nerd out was awesome.
Wow! Thanks ever so much
@@Producelikeapro For sure! Love all your vids to be fair, but Butch is one of my favorite artists. I'm live near Atlanta so have I seen him a ton, Sevendust as well. Can't believe I missed this when it when you released it.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I’m a huge fan of Butch!!
This interview raised my IQ by 3 points just watching it. Roger and Butch have so many levels. Genius has no limits. Thank you for this and RJM Jr.
Dave Morris you’re very welcome my friend!
Butch is very symbolic of "Southern" culture. So sweet & accommodating. Apologizing when he does not need to. He's so very talented & very intelligent when it comes to the music industry & recording. Nice video, Warren & crew!!!
This dude rules
I first heard of Butch back in '99 with Marvelous3's 'Hey! Album!'. Been following his career casually on and off since...super-talented guy! This will be great!
Butch Walker! Top bloke. Master of his craft and sincere to boot.
Butch is an amazing producer, I worked on an album as drum tech with him and my friends band in 2006. Such an awesome guy to work with, he used some very interesting drum production techniques too! Great memories!
Poplar and Pine that’s wonderful to hear! Thanks for sharing!
I'm sitting in Cartersville, GA watching this and will drive home to Rome, GA in a few hours. Thanks Butch for the true & honest inspiration.
Mark Strickland agreed! I learned so much!!
I could listen to butch’s knowledge and state at his vintage gear all day long. Thank you
Thanks ever so much Michael! I agree my friend!
Wow what a fantastic interview! I think I may have new favorite producer... well... next to you Warren :-) Thanks so much Warren and thank you Butch for sharing your background and your amazing studio!
Thanks Dave! Yes, Butch is amazing!
Has to be one of my favorite songwriters and one heck of a producer.
He is, as they say in the US, a badass!!
Marvelous 3 were amazing!
Yes, absolutely fantastic!
Legendary!!!
This was such a great watch. Thank you guys for bringing this to us. I’d love to see a follow up at his new place now that it’s 5 years later.
That Injected record was one of my favorites back in the day. Got to see them play a tiny club in Oklahoma and they were amazing live. It’s a bummer they didn’t release more music. Both of their records are great.
We will! Great idea!
Thanks for interviewing Butch, Warren. BW's music has been a big part of my life since the Southgang days. His sense of melody is second to none. A true Power Pop genius! This inspired me to dig out Sevendust's "Enemy" which is a melodic metal classic.
That's amazing to hear Simon! Thanks for sharing!
@@Producelikeapro Not a problem. If you ever hear that Butch needs the worlds oldest intern/sideman...I'd happily volunteer and I'm only a few miles away :)
Butch Walker and Marvelous 3 changed my life...one of my favorite artists ever! I'm also glad he mentioned that Injected album because its really awesome. A good friend of mine introduced me to it. If you like fully kickass, hard rock, that's a great example!
One of my favorite artists on my favorite UA-cam channel. Outstanding.
Thanks ever so much Robert!!
Well that was the best two hours I've spent in a long time and I hadn't even heard of this guy before. Thank you so much!
That's amazing to hear my friend!!
I don’t know much about Butch Walker, but I’ve met him several times and he’s always a super nice guy.
Yes, John, he's a great guy! I learned A LOT!
You're on a roll Warren! I discovered Butch Walker through an ad in Tape Op, found the "scarves" CD in the Library, read his book and on and on.... mad respect. "The Weight if Her" is still a favorite, both as a song and production. I love his approach.
"of" - "the Weight OF her"
Amazing! Larry Crane does such an amazing job at Tape Op!! Butch Rules!
@@gribb5967 great!
In 2000 I went to the Music Go Round in Orland Park Illinois to buy a guitar and an employee there and I talked for quite a long time about Marvelous 3 and what he knew about the Butch Walker story. Its so cool to see this almost 20 years later and to have followed your "success by perseverance" - a lesson that many who are in the first few years of their music careers should really take to heart. Thank you for doing this interview Butch!
2 Records in the works!!!!! Hell yes Butch!
My two favourite producers. Really amazing to see Butch’s guitars and gear.
Thanks ever so much my friend! Yes, agreed, amazing guy with wonderful collection!
Got to love Georgia music....it is the best in the world..
No Cover Charge yes, pretty darn wonderful!
Hey Butch, I've seen your mom play piano at the local Methodist church and it's been a good while but I met your dad after one of your shows back in cartersville at krystals, he saw the t-shirt I was wearing, and asked me if I enjoyed the show, not knowing who I was talking to I said It was the best show I had ever seen. This was the (ready sex go days) and you played at the Roxy. He said that's my boy, I've always wanted to tell you that, and I hope you see this, your my hero but anyone I've ever met that knew you in highschool says ( oh yea that's just fucking Brad. But your still my hero. David Morgan.
The record Butch did with seven dust is their best record. Imo. Amazing from start to finish.
Agreed Jason!! Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Wow Butch, do you remind me of myself. In a good way. Lol
Great stories and insight. Very captivating and engaging for me too listen to. Sparked yesteryear memories.
Thank you, was a fab listen !
Ah yes a hometown boy!! Used to sit in on practices of his bands in Rome before he left and made it big. BTW he's secretly a monster guitarist seriously doubt that has changed.
Derek secretly? Your must be a terrible secret keeper
Been waiting for this video since you mentioned it a while ago. Can't get enough of Butch! Thank you Warren :)
Amazing! Thanks for sharing! I really appreciate!
The knowledge and stories between these two minds is so great and fun to listen to! Butch is the man! ATL legend.
being responsive and responsible is always cool. being aloof and unresponsive is what's really square.
Indeed! Well put!
Nice interview...Butch is getting it done....love that he is is using Richard Goodsell's stuff....showing that ATL love....keep up the good work Butch!
I just love a single room studio! What a grown man's playground.
Great episode butch walker is a gem
Great video. I really was inspired by his work with Pink on "I'm not dead". Loved the guitar work and bass on "Long road to happy" great record. Great producer and arranger.
Agreed 100% my friend! Huge talent and very humble!
HOLY SNIZZLE! I am currently at work but seriously considering leaving early to peep this one. I can't deny this is the one I've been waiting for. Seriously, you have an incredibly excited fan here in Cumming, GA. All the best guys!!
ah, as for who would be next on my dream list..... Brendan O'Brien and Rick Beato. All with GA roots. Thanks for all you guys do!!
Hi Drew Epton marvellous!! Thanks ever so much! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Love both of these guys. Amazing interview and chat.
William thanks ever so much my friend!
One of the coolest studio tours you've done. Butch looks like a wonderful bloke, not to mention super talented. And he has great taste in acoustic guitars, those all sound fantastic ! I keep coming back to these tours and always find them fun and mesmerizing with all the gear and stories. Thanks for all this Warren.
It makes me so, so happy to see the Sevendust boys getting some love. Such an underrated band, especially live, and just the most wonderful human beings I've come across in the industry. Seasons is one of my all time favorite records, to boot.
DUDE!!!! Seasons by Sevendust is one of my all time favorite albums!! Great interview, now I gotta dive deeper in to Butch Walker's material...
Agreed! That thing really had some magic on it back when it came out.
guitfidle yes! Wonderful album!
Matt Jones great to hear!!
Interestingly enough, I am watching this tonight after watching the 7D livestream concert of the Seasons album. I am a big Butch fan as well. Was looking for videos on the making of Seasons, I remember there was a dvd when it came out. Landed on this video, have watched a bunch of Warren's stuff but never caught this with Butch. I am just 20 mins in, can't wait for the rest!
2 on the trot; 2 great writer, producers (Butch & Roger...) with the combined powerhouse enthusiasms of creators utterly and totally inside of their chosen quests; animated, non-stop and apparently inexhaustable - but interesting, fun and perfectly off-the-wall when needed. Yet again, I took much longer watching this end to end, because I had to keep opening other pages and referencing the music I didn't know that well, or at all. That was a five course meal of a vid and tasty, too.
Thank you so much for having Butch on and giving us a look inside his process & space. One of my favorites of all time, and you used the time so well... perfect blend of industry experience, artistic guidance, and technical dive! Loving your shows.
Injected's "Burn It Black" is one of my favorite records ever. I had no clue Butch worked on that! My respect for his work has grown even more! Thanks for the quality interview! Cheers!
Loved the chat ! The history , the gear, the insight, the techniques… was fab ! Thanks guys!
Again. Great episode! I stumbled upon Butch Walker and The Let's Go Out Tonights on MySpace back in the day. That Rise and Fall record is awesome. Butch seems like an older brother I never had. 😀
WoW truly inspiring. Thank you Warren and Butch for the amazing interview.
Thanks ever so much Shawn!!
Aint nobody better than Butch!!!
I loved his room! Great collection of guitars by the way (loved the tele custom), and of course, awesome producer !
This was such a great watch, really enjoyed it, Butch is a talent and I didn't realise he'd worked on so much stuff 🎸😀
Hi John, yes, Butch is a real badass!
I was WAITING!!!! Too see your REACTION when he mentioned Sevendust!!!! I've seen them 30 times in 5 differents states. So awesome! I'm stoked you love them too!!! GREAT interview!!!
OMG, what an incredible interview! I could listen to you guys for hours. Thank you so much Warren, and thank you Butch, so glad you both so generously gave of your time. :)
Hi David Allen Hammond Thanks ever so much David! You Rock!

Aw shucks! Thanks ever so much my friend!
Thank you Butch and Warren! 😃
Really great video here. So much information and a great history lesson too. Hard work and passion comes across and is a given if anyone wants to be successful at anything. Great to listen to Butch talking a lot of wisdom. Thanks Warren for this gem!
What a beautiful conversation. Top shelf as always Warren
Really enjoyed this one. Thanks for sharing
Super nice guy! toured with Showoff, Self, and Marvelous 3 back in 1999 and he was a super rad dude. He used to be in a band called Southgang as well. he has mad guitar and vocal chops.
I'm just getting around to this one, Warren. That Epiphone Cortez is amazing from where I sit!
He's one of the best songwriters going. So cool to see him on here.
I've been waiting for this episode for weeks, I love butch man, he's a super cool guy. I'm always dreaming of having a studio like his. Thanks for this episode. CHEERS FROM VENEZUELA.

Awesome interview Warren.... and what a cool insight. Yes, Butch might have a s**t-load of high-end gear, but his approach to recording, and what you can do in a single room space, is a breath of fresh air....
this guy makes one hell of a good impression. so freakin cool!
Fantastic interview again! Thanks Warren
What a nice regular guy, wow!
Butch Vig would be incredible
This is amazing! Thank you! I want to be like Butch when I grow up!
Very enjoyable interview.
was looking forward to this interview & it's ace! Totally agree on the Jellyfish experience affecting one's perspective on songwriting & lyrics. Very interesting, just like Walker's guitar & studio gear collection. Oh and the vocal booth is usually a pain cave indeed.
LOVED this episode. Would give almost anything to be in that room and pick the brains of both of you!
