Enjoyable tour of a great boat for two, decent boat for four and a weekender for six and even occasionally eight. Sleeping versatility sums it up well, and without sooooo many options a decent price.
@@cocoloco2711 new model Antares 12 was just launched month ago. This is the full spec price with 3x300 engines. I agree that it's over priced but there're no other cheaper options on the market on the 40/42s
I actually think that 3rd cabin could be very useful: in addition to over-flow sleeping, it could make a cozy little den with a flatscreen TV opposite a convertible bed/settee. You could even put a small coffee table on the aft side of the room between the bed and the TV. With the convertible bed/couch, you could use it as a bed when needed, but otherwise use it as a sort of secondary saloon on the lower deck. I think one thing I love about cruisers is how creative you can be to try and maximize accommodation for limited space. It's like working a puzzle.
Its a nice boat, well thought out. I think I would prefer diesel inboard/s , the thoughts of a couple of large tanks of petrol on board is a bit unnerving. The squeaky door had my two dogs up pretty sharpish. I think they thought there was a new toy in the offing. 😄
This might be our next boat - the 3 cabin 2 head layout is nearly perfect. Love outboards too. Everything else similar to this Antares 12 is Volvo DPS powered which has a very expensive maintenance and repair tax. A couple of Verado’s can be serviced anywhere!
Beneteau, so innovative! Lot of boat for 12m! Perhaps the drop down balcony could also incorporate a high-low platform (might be some unattractive mechanics on the side of the boat when up, but....). Thanks once again Nick for a great review; you are the master!!
They have a bit more work to do to get it to prime-time. That Port salon back rest, when adjusted to look to the stern...they should put a pop-up foot rest there or who ever is sitting there will be constantly thrown aft. The other forward Port back-rest, when adjusted to look forward, rides up against the table. Put a big person there, either the leather will rip or the table may tilt. Also, not sure that was a high-low TV. Also, since the Starboard deck is wider, most may want to moor up on that side as much as possible. With that nice drop-down, you probably wouldn't use it much inport as it would block people on the dock. Definitely would be nice at anchor. Just a couple thoughts 🙂 Nice tour though, thanks!
Interesting! I always wonder why boats don't have equal size guest cabins. You can invite two couples without one having a better cabin than the other. Or you have two adolescent kids, which will sooner than later have a partner. But reality seems different :D Another great video. The way you present a 34 meter Majesty and a 12 meter Beneteau with the same respect, is outstanding.
One of my favorites so far. Those big boys are nice to see, but this little guy (not so little) is much more manageable/reasonable. Now I just need to navigate that 762,000 price tag...
It’s a wonderful thing to see all the latest innovations from the various yacht manufacturers from a hand held smart phone. I’m curious about the air draft on this extremely versatile vessel. Also, I wondering if a pair of OXE 300 hp diesel outboards are an option. They could add significant range. Once again Nick, thank you for another thorough and enthusiastic tour that you are so famous for😊
The spec sheet only advertisers mercury outboards. To fit it with diesel outboards, you would probably have to order the boat without any outboards fitted (and fuel tank if it is not suitable for storing diesel), and then commission someone to install the diesel outboards, fuel tank if nesscary and steering controls. It would be great to see a diesel version of it. That would be mwah (chefs kiss) Quieter, less volatile fuel so can be stored for longer, further range, longer service intervals, and I'm pretty sure diesel is more common than petrol/gasoline at mariners so that would be another big benefit.
@@flinttolleyespecially considering that all diesel is desulfered for the new cleaner emission systems. Also, with outboards you have plenty of room to fit more fuel for better range. I’m less interested in high horsepower and more interested in torque as well.

Got to see this boat at FLIBS and it's everything Nick says and more. Big upgrade in quality from the smaller Antares line. You get a lot for your money with this boat, and being designed as an outboard first the interior space is much larger than inboard boats at 42 feet. I was really hoping to meet @aquaholic at FLIBS but I didn't see him! Thanks for doing this video!
Great tour as always, thank you. However I don't think its a good idea to put the TV right were you are doing the cooking and washing up, it could spoil it. The bolster chair at the front, will rub on the table whilst in motion. Also you would think they would have sprayed the owners cabin door with a bit of WD40 before the show. Other than that its a nice boat.

Cracking little boat. Great spec. In the boat world Nick how quickly and much do the boats depreciate in cost. Obviously in cars it is quite significant. Great tour btw.
So many variables but approx 30% in 5 years and 50% in 10 years. They then tend to hit a bit of a plateau and slowly trickle down to the floor price. A boat of this size and spec I can't envisage ever dropping below £90k regardless of age.
Jeanneau and Beneteau are part of the same company. MF129 and A12 do have some similarities but are actually quite different in person. I look at a both boats a FLIBS and the have learned a lot from the MF1295 that makes this much better in my opinion.
Very nice, complete boat with lots of flexibility for seating options. 3/4 of a million Euros seems high, but that may include everything shown here, and not the base price (Nick, correct me if I'm wrong). If so, try pricing a Porsche. Sure, they may start at €60k, but then you'll need to buy all the 'options', like a steering wheel, tires, engine, headlights etc.
I can't comment on the European Spec, but I do know they offer the boat at a pretty base level. However, in the US the A12 comes in a pretty high spec (Genset, AC, etc) and options are pretty reasonable. So this is pretty close to a loaded boat at a USD equivalent price.
Another great tour Nick. Is the tv a hi-lo or easily removable? If not, I’m thinking it presents quite a block on window viewing if the weather is a bit nippy and people are inside.
Interesting whit outboard engines. Is Jeanneau/Beneteau the same, otherwise it would be nice whit a comparison between the two boats. Seems pretty the same.
The 1295 and the Antares 12 are surprisingly more different then you would think. I got to see both at FLIBS and I prefer the Antares 12 quite a bit more. They fixed a lot of little things since the Antares 12 was developed after the 1295
Well, I quite like it. Packed a lot into a relatively small package. Maybe not a refined as some may think it should be, but than maybe they should be looking at 50+ feet and double the price. A generator and sea keeper would make this a very comfortable boat to take on a nice vacation, if you put in a watermaker.
just rewatching a lot these vlogs and noticed something about this boat wouldn't you moor forward to get the engines out the water then all that stuff on the front everyone can see you from the dock but great from anchor that's a lot cushion to store asp in uk boating if not needed
What a beautiful boat and absolutely family friendly but one thing you missed is how the top on the fly bridge gets put away. But like always love your videos
Great boat, but for me, if you have a door at the helm, why wouldn't you put a door in the gunnel right outside the helm door as well, to give easy pontoon access when singled handed. Great tour as always Nick.
the Antares 11 has this feature and it's SORELY missed in this boat. I wish they would have kept that from the Antares 11. Otherwise, this boat is a huge upgrade in every other way.
First thought,... That kinda price for a Beneteau with outboards 🤔 Next seeing 6 berths, excellent master bathroom and dayhead. A well equiped drivers workplace. Sufficient "kitchen" plus TV. A nice sesting inside, aft and fly plus a rather big and practical entertainment area on the bow. In short, a lot of boat for a friendly price.
This is a really interesting yacht. I'd like to know who thought it was a good idea to mount the radar dome in the same plane as the heads of those sitting in the fly bridge (or their torsos, if standing)? Is that safe?
Always a compromise, but never on The Wave! While I do like a lot of the features, I do feel this would be nicer with a bit more room, perhaps enough to go galley-down with a lower deck lounge area to match.

Hi Nick, a great inexpensive boat in fact there is a lot for the buck to it. Major selling point for me is the fully enclised cabin area, not having to zip on enclosure curtains makes it ideal for northern waters with unpredictable weather 🧐 Negative would be that TV behind the stove top, im sure someone will try to cook with TV raised and melt the TV casing 🥴 Cheers DougT
You clearly have an absolute command of the English language, but I have noticed that you often refer to the head as the "heads" or "head's", with an "s" sound at the end. I wonder if this means that the proper name for it is actually "heads"? Thank you very much for your wonderful boat reviews! ✅
Are these manufacturers not feeling any pricing pressure from tightening credit markets? I suppose if your customer is buying a $750k boat, they don’t need to finance it. It just seems like the prices keep inflating and unlike the housing market, I’d think boat buyers would have more options.

Moos love it 😅
For a smaller boat it's got everything you need
The door noise... 😂😂😂😂 the price is a little absurd, but to each their own.
Like to c one of these tours when the boat yacht is actually at sea. Then u cud c how properly they work.
Nice
You clearly have an absolute command of the English language, but I have noticed that you often refer to the head as the "heads" or "head's", with an "s" sound at the end. I wonder if this means that the proper name for it is actually "heads"? Thank you very much for your wonderful boat reviews! ✅
In the UK we call it the heads. In the USA it is just head.
Thank you very much! @@AQUAHOLIC 😎
The construction seems a little flimsy but isn't Beneteau to the yachting industry what McDonald is to the food industry?
Where this boat places?
Are these manufacturers not feeling any pricing pressure from tightening credit markets? I suppose if your customer is buying a $750k boat, they don’t need to finance it. It just seems like the prices keep inflating and unlike the housing market, I’d think boat buyers would have more options.
