What's crazy is that folks have been saying this since the games launch, but because they ain't top of the top we've been ignored. Now that Arslan said this watch everyone suddenly being like "oh yeah i been saying these issues about the game."
Yeah, and a bunch of "influencers" and pros went along with it because of whatever behind the scenes goes on. Nobody who seriously plays the earlier Tekkens at a decent level can really think the system in Tekken 8 is an improvement
@@TheCaveman256 the pros called it out before the game came out come on now. Everyone's been talking about how bad it's been but even Knee, Horschelong Ash and others are been called "old head cry babies who can't adapt" for calling it out. Everyone's been talking since before the game came out since the open beta. Some since they saw some trailers. But we've been drowned out by millions of scrubs who think they're good now bc they were yellow/ orange ranks in Tag 2 / 7 and are all of a sudden Fujin on T8.
What pisses me off the most about Tekken 8 is how blocking doesn't work properly. Sometimes i backdash super fast and just hold back, no korean back dashing, just normal backdash into holding back to block, and i get hit. It happens so often that it's driving me mad. I've been playing since T3, and it's never felt this weird b4. I've even gone into replay. The input history shows me holding back, and i still get hit. I've seen other people talk about this, too. Edit: it's not just after backdashing. I've been hit by stuff when I'm holding back after side stepping and once or twice I've been hit by a mid after I already blocked a move and just held back, somehow it registered that I let go even though I know 100% that I didn't.
Really? Interesting in few previous games I thought few times my movement was sloppy against some mishima electric yoloers and it's was fully my fault for being launched but this bring new light to this.
Tekken doesn't allow blocking after back dash. You need to tap db to cancel the back dash recovery. This is in every tekken game. Korean back dash has this built in, so learning korean bd helps you block during movement
Agreed. I've been screaming for this all over the Internet. Don't know why this Heat Smash dogshit gives you a plus on block 50/50 when it is blocked but when it isn't it also gives massive damage and a potential combo. Pure BS.
My only problem with T8 is that it seems I get hit often by things that should have been SS’d. I’m by no means a perfect player, but I am competent. Some of those SS situations should simply work yet I’ll still get hit by an attack that tracks harder than a Solider 76 in ult
I dunno anout most of the cast but heihachi is a weord character to step. The number of times I step left (hei weal side) and O get launched weirdley off axis just bothers me...heihachi and sometimes other characters feel this way where you stepping doesn t matter sometimes because weird clipping..
@@H1nted Heihachi is literally one of the most steppable characters in the game. You are doing something wrong. The only move he has that tracks well to step left is B4 which only launches on CH anything else is just you mistiming the step or the Heihachi varying their timing. And honestly, in this game, Hei's real weak side is Side step right. His DF1 has very bad tracking to both sides, B4 only covers step left and the only thing you need to worry about is EWGF which can be SSR ducked.
Almost every move that Heihachi does is steppable. But I do agree that some characters like Dragunov for example. I just get hit by stuff when I am on his side or sometimes... behind him. Its mostly the top characters that have this weird attack hitbox on them.
you have to practice your ss timing. you wanna step after either your attack animation ends or your opponent's attack animation ends. go into training mode and set the cpu to block, then punish. try attacking with different pokes, and you'll realize the ss timing is different depending on the move you used.
@@YaGirlGumptionCheck out the scrub here, did Tekken 8 give you false sense of achievement? Get carried to a rank you didn’t deserve, Even GOD is a walk in the park. No one likes the game, and in this case, scrubs expose themselves being scrubs by saying they like it. Get effed! SCRUB!

it just doesnt hit the same as 7 did. i think a big part is not being able to rematch indefinitely in ranked and player match. like give me a chance to learn the matchup damn
@@kamren3542 for real, i fought a raven recently and got rocked since i rarely ever see anyone pick him. after that set, gone forever until i stumble across another raven main
The funny part is, that’s one of the best times to be learning the match up. When you’re online playing against other people at home. Not when you’re in a tournament or you’re waiting in the warm up space for 5 minutes at a time. I absolutely agree with this comment!
My entire friends group and I dropped the game a few weeks after Eddie dropped and we've been playing together since T5 DR. I wont pretend to know enough about game balance or design to have an opinion on how to fix Tekken 8, but all I can say is that my entire squad was saying our wins felt empty and our loses felt terrible. I suck at street fighter, but I've been having WAY more fun getting my ass beat in SF6 than I ever did even at my best in Tekken 8
I’m pretty mediocre I’m in purple with like 7 different characters but yea same thing. I stopped playing around the time eddie came out. Heat needs to take a backseat it’s not fun to deal with someone having 3 different asspulls every single round. The amount of training you need to do to learn every single matchup is ridiculous then you just have to factor in heat smashes stealing rounds.
I personally think that heat dashes are more op than the heat smashes because if you land it some characters get a free 80 damage or more combo. All the good heat smashes like draganovs are really linear and can be stepped or sidewalked and launched.
I think heat as a entire system does nothing positive for the gameplay basically. the devs continue to just pander to scrubs and it does nothing for the competitive integrity of the game except make it a party game
It’s garbage and I knew it would be garbage before the game came out. It really sucks because this is such a great game being ruined by a dumb forced mechanic.
The thing is, heat is not equal throughout the cast. For lee it gives you just frames (but eat your heat meter) and will give you 2 14 frames launchers, a bit strong but okay. For law it gives u literally an 11 frames launcher. For jack it gives you a 10 frames GIGA PUNISH. For drag it s just more opressive. For heihachi now you die woth 2 interactions mmax in the round...I think heat system looks good especially for creativity. But at least uniform it..
@@H1nted This is a huge problem. I play alot of steve and I get a shitty command grab that the opponent can break lol it's trash. With Kazuya I get a few extra moves and most of them are extremely situational, reina also gets a couple extra moves but they've been nerfed.
The one thing I know about Tekken players is, when they say they’ll quit, they’ll all be back within 2 weeks tops lol. But fr the last dlc gotta be fire because the game rn is in MK1 territory
@@Kabra2012 much better than mashing mindlessly. t7 had better mind games and timings. if I chip down half of your health then i deserve to frustrate you even more by turtling.
They made it too casual tbh. Ranked and casual should be different modes like Smash Bros. Heat smashes plus on block and rage arts every round should not be a thing in competitive play
People screamed at me when I said it but the only way to fix this game now is to add a strong defensive mechanic to heat. Allow me to choose whether I use my heat for pressure, or sacrifice it for some kind of push block once or twice. Yeah it’ll change things even more, but I don’t think people will be happy with less damage and worse characters. Only way to overcome that is to give us 1 strong defensive mechanic
Ive loved tekken all my life, but this grand is way too casual friendly, the game is all 50/50s and guessing now, legacy knowledge is nonexistent in this game. Also if you go heavy on defense you get chipped to death
Before I say anything, this is coming from a casual low rank Yoshimitsu player (Raijin) with two characters on Mighty Ruler (Claudio and Kazuya), and is currently trying to rank up Heihachi and Reina... I would say I have fun playing Tekken 8 more than the older Tekken games. In Tekken 7 for example, all I do is to wait for my opponent make a mistake. Lots of poking and prodding the opponent to comit to a punishable move and then hit them. It's honestly a bit dull. Especially when I watch tournament players... I repect their skill at the game but most of the time, they just kbd away... Dash back in... Poke... Dash back out to bait a whiff. Nothing much is happening. It feels like Tekken 7 is a game about who's better at turtling and capitalizing on mistakes. Tekken 8 is a game where you're supposed to make things happen... Or they will. I watched your game against Lidia where you pulled off an epic comeback with Lee. That was hella entertaining. As frustrating the Lidia was with her flashy stance mixups (in heat especially) it was genuinely an entertaining watch for me. Way more entertaining than just two backdash cancelling all over the place. A lot of dead air waiting time.
Nothing personal, but it definitely seems like both a player difference and preference. I think pros definitely prefer something that rewards their skill more, which is in your t7 example. the kbd punish game definitely heavily favours the person who can make better calls and executes better overall. It's not to say t8 lacks that, but now we have the let's go gambling problem i guess where because you have to make things happen as you say, people really don't like the feeling of when they've made a mistake or wrong call. I think in t7 in some ways you can get away with never making a bad call as long as you just execute better for the most part, but i could be wrong.
Raijin is top 15% of the player base buddy, only to the guys at the very top 0.3% is that a low rank. I think people really need to learn what average is, you need to go back to the red ranks and upper average being Mighty Ruler, those are average players. Low ranks would be Orange and Yellow.
Tekken 8 has no competition... The only 3D fighter you can play online is VF5 (only on playstation) and VF4 (fightcade and discord fighter) You have like 50 different fighters you can play if you hate SF with rollback and decent size populations. I'd kill for a tekken 3 to tag 2 rerelease with rollback but they refuse to do it, meanwhile capcom is killing it with their collections.
I flew 3 hours to get to my capital city to catch up with people within my community and play at locals in person, which I don't get to do often because I live remote. In T7 era, there would be a minimum of 10 setups with people queing up to play. I went yesterday for Tekken 8 (which I primarily went to see people, not play the game) and Tekken was relegated to a corner with 4 set-ups with everything else being street fighter and other retro fighters. I was there for 5 hours and people were not queuing to play. Set-ups were vacant, and there was zero hype. Spoke to members of the community only to be told most of the guys I grew up playing T7 stopped playing because they disliked T8. It actually made me sad, but I completely understood it. Were 10 months into the game and the competitive scene in my capital city is already dead. No one cares about this game, and I saw it first hand in my own community.
Why is it so bad for people to ask for changes for a game they hope to get better? This is so weird that people are complaining about people complaining. If you dont care just mute everyone, let people who do care air out their grievances. Let people be negative just like people should let you be positive it's not that hard. Not pointing the finger at anyone in general just the whole conversation surrounding talking about the game and the zeitgeist that surround it.
the devs lost their vision since season 3. and hiring Dead or Alive and Soulcalibur devs (2 dead games) to work on tekken 8 was the final nail in the coffin.
I really do like this game a lot but I can't deny Arslan has some good points and some things need to be done, I really really hope this game gets better and better as it goes on, I can see Tekken 8's first season being remembered as the worst season, I really want it to succeed, I really hope there will be a lot of positive changes coming in the later seasons.
I agree. Rage art is the most ridiculous thing ever. It's so clearly made for scrub gameplay. Super armor + awkward delay to make it weird to punish. I 100% prefer heat over rage art. Atleast heat is steppable and interruptable.
@@Beleth420 Only true if you're facing mashers. 13f starter that gives your opponent a free throw on Block. Holding the Rage for the dmg boost has more value than hitting the RA once you get past a point.
@@Kabra2012it goes beyond mashers you can dominate a round and literally have to stop playing because your opponent MAY rage art you it's not a good mechanic at all almost every other fighter has better supermoves in their combat system
@@Kabra2012 it slows down the pace of the match and actively punishes the player who has gained the upper hand. Easy to counter or not, it's made to reward people who suck. Terrible mechanic. Didn't like it in 7, even less in 8 when aggressiveness is heavily encouraged.
They aren't saying much because they are bought and paid for. Must be scared of losing sponsorship or something. Remember when some pros early on said things weren't right and then quickly changed their tune. Agree with Arslan and what you said at the end. It's not about nerfs, the system is a mess
I find it funny when people who were scared to play early tekkens because they were to hard tell legacy players to get good. Guess what you didn't get good. You're the same bottom or mid ranked player you were in T7. T8 is just designed to make things easier for you. I'm not talking out my ass either. Both Harada and Murray said they intentionally balanced the game to help weaker players.
I played Tekken 7 after 8 and was unpleasantly suprised by how clunky inputs are. When I do f3+4 with Lee, the game thinks i pressed 3+4. Am I the only one who has the same problem? I play with Dualsense through Steam. But I can see why pros didn't like 8. It is really different. Not always in a good way(but, mostly, it is)
It's Bad... Let's just call it what it is .. winning or not winning .. it doesn't feel good... What happened is that they stripped a lot of the games integrity to cram the offense aspect .. an aspect that does not belong in the nature of the game for a few reasons , excitement to viewers , new comers and for competitive players to just accept it knowing they'll play it anyway. Like how did we get here?
This is the most fun tekken I’ve played tbh I agree with ppl that some characters should be toned down more I don’t really have a problem with heat tho
It took so long because pros are more likely to attempt to understand and figure out a solution to a problem while the casual won't lab and call it how they see it. In this case pros are finding out after almost a year that the claims casuals have been making are valid and it really is "Casino 8" instead of Tekken 8.
The kneecap players they’re appealing too are playin sparking zero right now, that’s why I say appealing to these casuals won’t get you anywhere tekken 7 was already beginner friendly
@@sneakerreview4397 Tekken 7 even has auto combos and people were acting like tekken 8 just started doing it you can tell those people never really played tekken 7 like that either
Because it’s those same players who started in Tekken 7 and had a little bit of success that think Tekken 8 is good. But bash us legacy players who been true to Tekken since Tekken 2 for not liking it. Telling us to “adapt”. The funny part is, they been so quiet in all the old Tekken games. Some of them wouldn’t even TOUCH Tekken because it was “too hard” or “too complicated”. Why didn’t they “adapt” then? Why wait until Tekken 7, with all its armor moves, rage arts, rage drives, and busted 2D/dlc characters to start getting into it? Why wait until Tekken 8, with all its recovering health , chip damage, and heat mechanics, guard breaks to get into it? Why until now to start talking about “adapt” when everything is clear as day easier in the game?! Had all these years to play Tekken at an intermediate to high level, but chose to stay away. Now they want to talk about adapt. Get outta here!
Its like i had a vision. i saw this coming immediately when they showed trailers where characters used Heat, i said to myself "This is already bad". Namco saw how hype Street Fighter 6 was, with all the flashes and stuff and they were like, lets also go crazy. When i voiced it out to my local Tekken community, they said i was tripping, the game isn't even out yet and i'm already complaining. Ok. the game came out and there were huge issues, they had to make a really huge update toning down the game. to me that was already a sign that i was right, and its only gonna get worse from here. let me tell you a little story. So far i've only played T8 only once, and before i even played it, i told my friends that i can get just 15min to practice combo timing and after that i can whoop the heck out of them, i even placed a bet, which i narrowly lost. But no one wants to accept my challenge anymore. Because T8 is so stupid and streamlined to the point that i only watch tournaments and can just pick up a controller and play. And just to clearly outline why they don't wanna fight me is because i chose one of the hard characters (Shaheen) and deprived myself of Heat Burst and Heat Smash. Only Heat engage and Heat dash. But i almost won the bet. After this video i think i'm going to ask them if they still enjoy the game, because one of them was complaining that hes being abused in Ranked by players that never used to beat him.
It’s funny, when I first started playing the game I was like. Damn is this Tekken, because I feel like I’m playing Mortal Kombat. This is no longer a 3-D game
How I would improve the game since you asked: no more armor on rage arts, less recoverable health, more damage when you float an airborne opponent or punish law/shaheen slides, heat smash less active on whiff
Yea floating combos should do more damage especially with the new "offensive" tekken where players are mashing and a jab would float them. Also make all hit smashes like -10 on block. Because the fuck you mean lee is -14 and drag is +2 ??? Also make rage art once per match. And all armour moves be -11 if they are mids.
They are mad because now even a slightly less skilled player who don't compete on tournaments can easily kill them with a few strings, armor moves, heat and rage art. I'm in the blue ranks with my mains and Tekken Emporer/King and Tekken God player are always the most toxic in my steam profile dm after i beat them 😂 Damn, it's just a game. They all act as they're entire ego was destroyed when they lose against a lower rank player. Get good 😂
@@Boro87 Read my comment again before you answer to me: I said slightly less skilled not that i can beat a pro - which is absolutley not unrealistic at all concider this games many casual mechanics.
In an ideal world …To fix this game heat needs to go plain and simple. But the developers are too married to the idea. If they released a no heat game mode I guarantee this game will start doing gangbusters with the OGs . They can keep the heat mode as the casual/party mode or whatever . Outside of that, make every heat burst and heat smash linear . And make it heat smash -3 or +3 on block . And heat engage being +18 is too much . Bring it down to +8 . Same amount of frame advantage as a jab and gives a mixup , but slows it down enough so even a beginner can run a mix up since everyone can react and run a mix up off a hit confirm from a jab. Take away the ability to heat burst and heat dash in a combo to reduce wall carry . Reduce combo damage overall so the game can’t be won off of 1 interaction into mix up. Retool characters move sets and give them actual weaknesses again. Descope moves with over loaded properties … like a mid + on block that forces crouch on block and a ch launcher all into to one shouldn’t exist .
I went back and watched T5 and T6 vids. Say what you want about those games, but there was no "free 8 seconds of offence with 50/50" and most moves had poor range and tracking compared to todays game. You were waaaay more punished for being a worse player than today.
I just have to say: since when tekken isnt been like that?, this people saying "the game has become..." i mean the game isnt perfect, they still have to keep working on it, but compared to older tekken is GOLD... back in the days of T5 or T6 it was a combo = 70% of your life into a 50/50 or even infinites; launchers used to be safer or even safe; everything led to a huge combo on counterhit with no risk involved; after they got ur ass to the wall you ducked wrong = you were dead and in some instances even if you didnt duck you were dead to some lows; rage was INSANE in tekken 6; in terms of balance, there were literally unusable characters and a bunch of insanely almost unbeatable characters (mainly in T4 and T5). So basically the only reasonable thing to follow after the "the game has become..." is the word BETTER, better than previous games, and im not making an apology with this saying the game is perfect as it is, there are still tweaks to be done here and there...but whoever says otherwise has fkn amnesia.
I personally like Tekken 8. Every character play style seems to be focused around having fun. I believe the disconnect comes from having too many easy mechanics while not having enough advance mechanics to distinguish the player base. There are some issues, but I think most of the big mouths exaggerate issues that are actually minor and are just crybabies to get more views which equates to money for them. Some of their gripes are not issues at all. They just hope that the general public is too dumb to look into the "problems" themselves. If you do your homework on the character returns from there kits while looking at the entire scope of the game, you will probably understand the reasons for some balance decisions. Arslan mentions uf+2 for Feng and Jin. Feng on counter hit has a +52 advantage up close to the opponent. I'm not sure if he gets a guaranteed follow up or not. I believe in T7 this may have been a launcher for him. Jin on the other hand gets a +19 knock down that knock the opponent back too far for him to do anything and they have access to quick stand. THESE MOVES ARE NOT THE SAME. This is why Feng is -10 while Jin is -8 on top of them being short range moves. Now the argument of how effective this type of move is versus the overall frame data is another discussion. This is not to say all balance decisions are good. Jin's scourge is a little over tuned. My problem is when players pretend like the scourge ark type move has not been littered in this game for years before Tekken 8. It seems to only be a problem because of a Jin hate train which is really pathetic. From what I gather these complainers want a new ranked mode without heat. They basically want to play Tekken 7 which I do not think the devs should take a step backwards in order to appease the elites. Don't get me wrong, I understand where the "pros" are coming from, but they cannot make the game just for themselves. However, I also think making the game exciting and flashy is a good thing and if they can't get with it then I say to hell with them. From Arslan Ashes example the problem is not the heat. It's actually the wall. The heat mechanic doesn't look like it's built for small stages. I would say on top of having new advance mechanics maybe make a "wall heat sensor" that maybe flips character positioning if they end there "heat stroke" too close to the wall. Also, since no one asked I would balance Jin's scourge by taking away the counter hit launch and give him a cool throw animation kind of like King's ff * 2 counter hit. The damage should not be over 50 and it should be at least -15. It also should be side WALKABLE to the right. I think other moves of this type like Kazuya's D1+2 should be nerfed similarly. The return on block should be higher than the counter hit. Jin's frames on 214 are fine but don't give him a guaranteed follow up. It does too much damage. His demon paw has been nerfed enough.
A lot of characters can use dumb moves without taking a lot of risks. It made people go dumb and it gives us that goblin gameplay that we see all the time. A few examples : - That running mechanic is too dumb. In tekken 7, it was a skill, I used to fail a lot and I was punished for it. Now it's not a skill anymore and everyone can do close range running move at you. - Mid heat smashes into fifty fifty is braindead. I made my peace with them because Im a casual and Im not losing any money but meh. Why jin can wall splat you from the middle of the stage and not get his ahh launched in the air if he does it on block ? Why some low heat smashes aren't launch on block ? It just makes people dumb, it's not their fault, it's the game, it pushes them to just throw winning buttons without being punished. - All these strings that jails for no reasons. - I do a -10 move and I get punished by a ten frame move that allows my opponent to go into a stance like why ? Lmao - The recovery on a lot of stupid moves need to be increased as well. All of these points combined and all the points that I haven't listed make the mental stack in the game reach a higher level than it was in tekken 7. It was made easier to attack and be heavily rewarded, but the defense didn't get buffed so it became harder to defend. I was a hard stuck blue rank - Emperor in tekken 7 and now in tekken 8 Im in the gold ranks lmao. I doubt it's because I got better fundies tho.
this is why i moved over to sparkling zero (refreshes like nothing on earth), because in that game it really isnt about the character you choose that will carry you to victory (despite what the devs said about it being unbalanced), but more so your skill in interrupting and dodging attacks and movement. SZ actually allows you to break combos and not be forced to eat them for the most part which is a lot more fair than tekken where if you guess wrong, you are guaranteed to lose a sizeable amount of health. There is not too many knowledge checks in that game and its just straight hands tbh. Tekken is actually the game where your character dictates the outcome not your skill funny enough (seeing as noobs are getting to GOD with victor nowadays). So yeah, as a lee main ive been struggling cause he isnt too strong and i dont like doing the cheap stuff with him, and if i need to be cheap to win in a game thats supposed to be based off of skill then i wont enjoy the grind to begin with.
Tekken needs changes to the universal mechanics of the game. Mid Heat Engagers are to powerful and having Heat Engagers be both mid and tracking is ridiculous.
Smh im not super FGC famous or anything but all the shit ppl complaining about now i said in the first of playing this game. There were so many issues, with just the fundamental gameplay of Tekken. Skill is not rewarded in this game nor is patience, Launcher into combo or 50/50, abuse armor moves, abuse heat andd Heat smashes etc. This series has dont nothing but fall waaaaaay the fuck off since T5:DR
Arslan has been vocal prior to losing and I appreciate it. It is a bit annoying cuz he had a few moments like when his controller went down and he ain’t have a back up and said whatever, but I do appreciate he’s been consistent in terms of the mechanics and base of the game. I resent people who say if tone it down it will be 7 no it won’t lmao .
I like this video GM sheds alot of light on this topic. What I realized about all games not only Tekken, any pro in any game will take to twitter and try to influence the game. Im not knocking Arslan Ash skill but the pros will always try to manipulate the devs in order to tweak the game in their favor. What does this do it dosnt allow for new Champions or New Faces to enter the spotlight.
I don’t have too much perspective since I started with T8 but coming from other fighting games I don’t think it’s as bad people say. Having active defense is more exciting than passive defense to me and when I watched T7 it was just two people doing KBD forever until one got a CH launcher and then they went back to not interacting Patch 1.05 was great because it allowed people to step heat smashes more consistently. I think they need to tone heat down a little and then we’ll be good
World best player calling the game 50/50 while a random noob saying no it’s “active defense” Please post replay here let’s see what actual active defense you are applying
@@johnsmith-g5f woah lol don’t need to be so aggressive. When I say active defense, I mean just having to interact. One of the most famous fighting game moments is Go1 blocking for a minute straight in DBFZ lol I’m just speaking as someone who is pretty decent at multiple fighting games. Tekken isn’t the only fighting game with 50/50s but it’s insane how negative that connotation is in this community compared to others
So funny to see people shitting on Tekken 8. Game has been a horribly balanced CF for years. Just play VF. It is system based and all characters are competitive. No heat, no powercrushes, and sidestep works how it should.
My biggest issue is SS and jailing strings. But heres how tbey weakened skill since T7 but more so T8: Fake comeback mechanics for fake hype moments with Rage Arts/ Drive. Nerf'd Movement: KBD and SS were completely destroyed to force people to trade in the pocket for fake forced entertainment. SideStep / Walk is basically MK vs DC. You can use it to position yourself on the state like get out of the wall situations but can't slip jabs to Jet Upper no more bc apparently my "hitbox expands and i become a fat F" or the characters somehow "realign" as soon as i press. So i have to let him finish and lose my frame advantage. 50/50s: unearned 50/50s for more fake hype. Throws: punish throws are inescapable taking away players skill to reward scrubs who can't do a proper punish. Making counter throws nearly inescapable again punishing people with throw break skill. Making normal throw breaks either or 1 or 2. Taking away the skill a lot of us had to develop and handing it to scrubs. Frames: moves that were launch punishable like Kings db3, Heihachis SS2,1, etc are now no longer launchable by most. Better have a cheap character like Kazuya. So now scrubs can just spam. Jail: Hwoarangs d4,4 jailing on block, Aputenas entire movelist jailing on block is beyond stupid and pathetic. Scrubs can just throw it out. Power Crush Heat Engagers... That are safe on block. That is just stupid. So yeah, feels like every character has been reduced to 4 or 5 moves. Specially characters like King, lows from mid range that duck under highs to close the distance, throws, (if you lose your turn Power Crush) reset. Its so lame and boring. You know what he's gonna do but you can't do nothing about it. Oh and i forgot to put all the unbreakable throws in the throw section. So cheesy that Heihachi and Reina get them. Oh and the forced guaranteed unbreakable crouch throws. This game went too far to the other side.
I like the heat system just for heat burst and dash combos. Take the heat smash, heat engagers and armored rage arts out the damn game. Also make it so that you don’t go into a nut ass stance after you block a heat smash.
Rage art, powercrush, heat smash... Its not just about knowing frame, its about mental pressure too... You push you're oppennent to make à mistake, he make it but he can choose 3 options to punish you (even if it SAFE) That casual b*lls*it. Everyone or many think that was a good idea (who begins in tekken revolution) Many applause this in tekken 7. And now they cry about that. I don't like it too, kokkoma is right, it 50/50 all day. Remove those 3 mechanics and many players finds out they get absolutly destroyed without this. Everyone know that.
T7 was when the wall carry became ridiculous. Lars became a wall carry monster in T7. Lars is almost as messed up as Heihachi with his guaranteed 50/50. T7 may not be where it started but its when the majority of the roster has strong wall carry, strong poking, strong counter hit, high damage, and more characters slowly drifting into the jack of all trades category. It makes certain characters irrelevant like Leo. Defense has become even more important in the pursuit of better offense.
In saying that - I wouldn't be mad at RAs and Heat being 1 use per match. Im fine with things as they are, but could also see some interesting interactions from having to conserve your resources. It's also kinda interesting to have full meters and choosing when to sacrifice them, rather than going the SF route towards meter building (meter building an even worse fit for Tekken than what a lot of ppl say RAs/Heat are).
I have fun in 8 but i knew this would happen when they started talking about making tekken easier i was worried that with less options gameplay would devolve and it has. So much of a round is a cutscene now its crazy. The skill floor is a bit too close to the ceiling in 8.
I was late to getting into the game cause my PC died. Didnt start putting hours in until a few weeks ago, was having a lot of fun until recently. Im still having some fun, and Im only like Kishin, but I get the criticism fr, they somehow made this game more explosive than T7. In T7 people would exaggerate and say you lose 60% into round ending mix, but thats actually the case in T8. Wall bound is broken, heat armor is broken, every char basically has a comeback mix that guarantees an easy 30% or 40%, and its so hard to get people off you even on blockstun cause the pushback on a lot of things has been lessened. I started on T7 and i achieved a higher rank in T8 without even trying. Peoples defense is trash at higher rank compared to the past, at least up to blue ranks where Im at.
Remove the heat system, make rage once per match, reduce combo damage, take more damage when using armor moves, put bears in the zoo, allow us to remove wifi from match searches, add frames to easy spamable move for all characters, why is Alisa still a character her battery should be dead by now, how much power dose it take to operate that ridiculous move set?
regarding the context at 8:15 first get hit by a 15f move into not taking dmg but mixup leading into not taking guaranteed dmg into mixup. I expect you to take the dmg so I get surprised and don't react right to the mixup. its good strategy, nothing unfair here
Agreed with the pros on this one this game is all over the place totally lost its spirit trying so hard to cater to casuals. Crazy the evo tekken winner has nothing good to say about the game, also rage art as a mechanic is absolutely horrible indestructible amored kill move that forces you to stop playing because youre opponent can tech roll into it, opening you up to potentially losing the round because youre offense was forced to stop when closing out a round.
tbf, the buggy situations that sometimes happen I think is at least partially to do with quirks of UE. In small but meaningful ways, there are still unresolved challenges around developing efficient 3D fighters on the Engine (based on what I've seen so far). It hasn't ruined my enjoyment of the game in the slightest - albeit, I play locals and couch Vs with friends. I could give two shits about Online Ranked, where it seems most of the grievances are. The small ways that the game messes things up is meaningful to the Pros, coz they're the level of player that is gonna run up hard into these issues (I think the average player would put a missed throw break down to their own failing, even when bugs genuinely screwed them over). I still disagree with the general gripes ppl have with the pace and aggro of T8 tho.
Its a fact by now after 10 months the issues of the game r crystal clear. This game lost its identity and the aggression is way too high while there is no movement. Im a tekken player since t3 and i hate tekken 8 to the core of it.
Rps is necessary in fighting games and is a skill with many strategies but it should not be the most important skill in your game. Execution, reactions, spacing, timing, decision making all exist in tk8 but they are overshadowed by the casino gameplay 90% of people experience the game through ft2 against randoms online so you don’t have enough time to apply any long meaningful mind games or conditioning
I dont understand how tekken of all games doesnt have infinite rematch. if ever there was ONE fighting game that should have it, it'd be tekken. No rematch, no custom lobbies, and TWO nukes PER round make this game an incredibly unfun experience. You can only either be satisfied with this product, or have respect for yourself. But not both.
If you get two launchers with 80 or 90 damage you lose 😢 I was fighting this guy earlier today and all he did was launch moves smh no fighting skills at all 💯👎🏿
I just need infinite rematch back and I'll be happy. T8 overall has way more potential than T7 is why I'm not that frustrated with the game as it stands right now even though I also think it needs work. Because you have so many viable options in t8, the matches are more strenuous with each interaction. On top of that you actually have to worry about the entire cast. That is where the burnout and frustration comes from. Imo I'd rather have that than sleeper gameplay by 1/3 of the cast who are just objectively better in all ways by far. I think these pros and the casuals dick riding them are just being babies because they can't just turn their brain off and defend everything with a select few characters like in t7. I use T7 as a start point because I see people glazing that game like it wasn't awful. T7 was a lame game and as someone who played it since season one, seeing all these people pretend like everyone loved the game back then is crazy. T7 was shit from launch and everyone was complaining literally every season hoping and praying that one day the characters they loved would be viable and not miserable to play against the highest tier of player. If you weren't playing a top tier in t7 you were literally trolling.
I don't think Infinite rematches should be in any ranked mode, but an Option for quick match mode would be a good compromise. Tournament rules should apply in ranked and if you want to be better vs a particular character then you should be able to infinitely rematch them in quick match mode to prepare you for those 1st to 2's in ranked. As for the game itself, I had issues at launch, unsteppable heat activation for example, but honestly, i am not one to complain as much. I still enjoy the game and will continue to do so as I did with prior entries.
Exactly having a whole heat smash should have removed rage arts and you should either use your heat smash and sacrifice rage or keep rage to boost damage you shouldnt have both.
@goshu7009 agreed overall I just want T5-6 style back with TTT2 overall movement and style. T5 is my fav Tekken due to bias but as far from a pure gameplay point of view it's TTT2 plus it's huge roster. I never liked supers being in Tekken it strays from it's roots as being acarde but grounded fighting game its what separated it from mortal kombat and SF it ddidnt need gimicks and supers to be great.
how is anything that requires 2 people to use moves to beat eachother a "gambling game" if u get beat by agression become the agressor or defend your country
What's crazy is that folks have been saying this since the games launch, but because they ain't top of the top we've been ignored. Now that Arslan said this watch everyone suddenly being like "oh yeah i been saying these issues about the game."
Exactly
Yeah, and a bunch of "influencers" and pros went along with it because of whatever behind the scenes goes on. Nobody who seriously plays the earlier Tekkens at a decent level can really think the system in Tekken 8 is an improvement
@@TheCaveman256 the pros called it out before the game came out come on now.
Early days. Report
Really? Interesting in few previous games I thought few times my movement was sloppy against some mishima electric yoloers and it's was fully my fault for being launched but this bring new light to this.
Yes! I thought I was only one
Damn. I thought I was the only one haha. Not to mention the sidestep, duck/low parry.
Tekken doesn't allow blocking after back dash. You need to tap db to cancel the back dash recovery. This is in every tekken game. Korean back dash has this built in, so learning korean bd helps you block during movement
It'd be nice if a blocked heat smash was -10 or at the very least ended your turn.
YES. Blocked heat smash (all of them) should AT LEAST reset neutral. Wtf is my bpy dragunov doing ?
@@H1ntedHis FF2 literally tracks insane to the left.
you have to practice your ss timing. you wanna step after either your attack animation ends or your opponent's attack animation ends. go into training mode and set the cpu to block, then punish. try attacking with different pokes, and you'll realize the ss timing is different depending on the move you used.

This really started with Tekken Revolution and was implemented a lityle with 7. Tekken has completely lost its identity now.
Facts, the seeds were planted way back then!
I said the exact same thing. Revolution helped implement tools like power crush
@@jonwhite549 Power crush can be ok only if they give all of them at least 15 frames to recover, so if they are blocked you can launch them. The problem is some characters have power crush that hits mid and has a short recover. They can spam and it make the game awful.

How hard is it to add deathmatches. It was in the last friggin' game 😭😭 Street fighter 6 online is dominating this game in terms of design.
The funny part is, that’s one of the best times to be learning the match up. When you’re online playing against other people at home. Not when you’re in a tournament or you’re waiting in the warm up space for 5 minutes at a time. I absolutely agree with this comment!
I took a month break from tekken 8 just to get burn out again in two days😂😂

Too relatable brother...
Tell me about it
Yep. Loved T6-7 and felt depressed when I did not play it. Today I'm happier not playing T8. Says a lot.
Yea, the irony I used to feel Tekken 7 more fun than playing Sf5. Now it's like they switched
What rank did you get too in tekken 8
I’m pretty mediocre I’m in purple with like 7 different characters but yea same thing. I stopped playing around the time eddie came out. Heat needs to take a backseat it’s not fun to deal with someone having 3 different asspulls every single round. The amount of training you need to do to learn every single matchup is ridiculous then you just have to factor in heat smashes stealing rounds.
I also stopped playing it after the Eddie launch.
Back to telken7 and it still fun
Agreed heat is terrible
@@H1nted This is a huge problem. I play alot of steve and I get a shitty command grab that the opponent can break lol it's trash. With Kazuya I get a few extra moves and most of them are extremely situational, reina also gets a couple extra moves but they've been nerfed.

They made it too casual tbh. Ranked and casual should be different modes like Smash Bros. Heat smashes plus on block and rage arts every round should not be a thing in competitive play
Rage Arts and Heat Smash are cancer to Tekken.
The only 3D fighter you can play online is VF5 (only on playstation) and VF4 (fightcade and discord fighter)
You have like 50 different fighters you can play if you hate SF with rollback and decent size populations.
I'd kill for a tekken 3 to tag 2 rerelease with rollback but they refuse to do it, meanwhile capcom is killing it with their collections.
I would buy Tekken 3 and Tekken 5 Dark Ressurrection with Rollback without fail.
That moment when you realize LTG has been saying the same thing since this game came out.
LTG is dogshit at tekken tho lol
Armored Rage Arts....every round...need to go....its cancerous
Sorry to hear that bro hopefully things will get better next season
Me as a mediocre Tekken player myself, but I would’ve like Tekken 8 if they got rid of rage art.
I agree. Rage art is the most ridiculous thing ever. It's so clearly made for scrub gameplay. Super armor + awkward delay to make it weird to punish. I 100% prefer heat over rage art. Atleast heat is steppable and interruptable.
I agree this my first tekken but it's just an I win button really.

I find it funny when people who were scared to play early tekkens because they were to hard tell legacy players to get good. Guess what you didn't get good.

I said this in another thread but one way to overcome guessing would be to play a lot of situations like a toy game in game theory.
A lot of characters can use dumb moves without taking a lot of risks. It made people go dumb and it gives us that goblin gameplay that we see all the time.
A few examples :
- That running mechanic is too dumb.
Lmao
- The recovery on a lot of stupid moves need to be increased as well.
They should make a 'Barebones' ranked mode where there is no heat, no rage art, no health recovery, with combo damage being nerfed across the board.
If you want to play tekken 5 just go back to that game dude
@@norf-kr6od You cant play that online
So what's the new Top 5 Tekken games at the moment? For me, Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection and Tekken 3 remains at Top 1 and Top 2 respectably.
This is what happens when you make playing video games a job. You just don't have fun anymore.
Thanks for watching bro
If only the devs just became experimental and get a limited timed event that completely removes Heat mechanics.
The game is fun if you don’t take it serious. They should have just made everyone OP instead of some.
I don’t have too much perspective since I started with T8 but coming from other fighting games I don’t think it’s as bad people say. Having active defense is more exciting than passive defense to me and when I watched T7 it was just two people doing KBD forever until one got a CH launcher and then they went back to not interacting
Patch 1.05 was great because it allowed people to step heat smashes more consistently. I think they need to tone heat down a little and then we’ll be good
World best player calling the game 50/50 while a random noob saying no it’s “active defense”
Please post replay here let’s see what actual active defense you are applying
It's honestly not as bad as people say. I can NEVER go back to Tekken 7 man. Just KBD and turtle all day...
@@johnsmith-g5f woah lol don’t need to be so aggressive. When I say active defense, I mean just having to interact. One of the most famous fighting game moments is Go1 blocking for a minute straight in DBFZ lol
I’m just speaking as someone who is pretty decent at multiple fighting games. Tekken isn’t the only fighting game with 50/50s but it’s insane how negative that connotation is in this community compared to others
@@johnsmith-g5f Ulsan is the best Tekken 8 player currently
it's very forgiving for being worse than the player you're facing.
So funny to see people shitting on Tekken 8. Game has been a horribly balanced CF for years. Just play VF. It is system based and all characters are competitive. No heat, no powercrushes, and sidestep works how it should.
My biggest issue is SS and jailing strings. But heres how tbey weakened skill since T7 but more so T8:
Fake comeback mechanics for fake hype moments with Rage Arts/ Drive.
Also make it so that you don’t go into a nut ass stance after you block a heat smash.
still don’t know why there are two comeback mechanics and one has the ability to restore health
Rage art, powercrush, heat smash...
Its not just about knowing frame, its about mental pressure too...
You push you're oppennent to make à mistake, he make it but he can choose 3 options to punish you (even if it SAFE)
That casual b*lls*it.
Everyone or many think that was a good idea (who begins in tekken revolution)
Many applause this in tekken 7.
And now they cry about that.
I don't like it too, kokkoma is right, it 50/50 all day.
Remove those 3 mechanics and many players finds out they get absolutly destroyed without this.
Everyone know that.
I stopped playing Tekken 8 after getting plugged constantly and losing insane points just to win and get no points
Am I the only one who thinks a classic match type in this game would be dope? Tekken match without rage arts, heat or powercrushes.
Murray's vision
They need to get rid of him
It feels more like a DBZ game than Tekken when I play. Even rank has lost meaning.
Dragunov feels like super saiyan god vegito 😆
IMAGINE saying git good to arslan ash lmaoooo
yea u were saying how much of a 50/59 casino this game was
I have fun in 8 but i knew this would happen when they started talking about making tekken easier i was worried that with less options gameplay would devolve and it has.
0:40 Didnt he play Azucena? Nina? Alisa? Mix UPS???
Yea he plays all the top tier stuff till it gets nerfed
Heat streamlines the game and is way too powerful. The risk reward ratio is almost non existent. Too many panic buttons, everything tracks.
Heat smash, Heat engager into 50/50 is the only issue I have with this game.
They're similar games except Tekken 8 has easier timing/inputs, and T8 has the crappy heat mechanic.
Bruh, put brars in the zoo lmao. You killed it!!!
8:40 facts a lot of people figured this out early tbh
I'm just glad it's not just me
This game is SUPER noob friendly, man. I totally agree with you!
People who are od’ing arslan ash are the people who benefit from the help mechanics in this game
Power crush heat emgagers for certain characters but not all makes zero sense
regarding the context at 8:15 first get hit by a 15f move into not taking dmg but mixup leading into not taking guaranteed dmg into mixup. I expect you to take the dmg so I get surprised and don't react right to the mixup. its good strategy, nothing unfair here
Agreed with the pros on this one this game is all over the place totally lost its spirit trying so hard to cater to casuals. Crazy the evo tekken winner has nothing good to say about the game, also rage art as a mechanic is absolutely horrible indestructible amored kill move that forces you to stop playing because youre opponent can tech roll into it, opening you up to potentially losing the round because youre offense was forced to stop when closing out a round.
you killing my fragile dark theme eyes with that light mode bro
tbf, the buggy situations that sometimes happen I think is at least partially to do with quirks of UE.
Lets be honest .. T8 is pretty trash I think most know it
Like the cap where'd u get it?🐥
Its a fact by now after 10 months the issues of the game r crystal clear. This game lost its identity and the aggression is way too high while there is no movement.
Im a tekken player since t3 and i hate tekken 8 to the core of it.
Rps is necessary in fighting games and is a skill with many strategies but it should not be the most important skill in your game. Execution, reactions, spacing, timing, decision making all exist in tk8 but they are overshadowed by the casino gameplay
90% of people experience the game through ft2 against randoms online so you don’t have enough time to apply any long meaningful mind games or conditioning
Man i went back to Tekken 7. Ill come back once they patch out heat.
is anyone online?
@@straightlead8 yeah i play in the mornings us eastern time zone. I catch a few players on.
T7, a classic, always will be❤
If you get two launchers with 80 or 90 damage you lose 😢 I was fighting this guy earlier today and all he did was launch moves smh no fighting skills at all 💯👎🏿
You can outplay someone and get launched once and u die it's rough
I still play TTT1 and T5DR to this day.
game feels like CH or launch into whatever, 1 to 2 good exchanges and the opponents dead.
All this Rage Arts have to be removed. I dont want to spend few seconds per round watching the same animation all over.
Exactly having a whole heat smash should have removed rage arts and you should either use your heat smash and sacrifice rage or keep rage to boost damage you shouldnt have both.
@brandonspringfield2861 yes..... well i am against all this boosts and arts.... in all games it just slows down the action.
I must be pro, 'cause I hate the effing game too!! 💢😼
Personally I think the game is perfect.. the problem are characterts like Alisa, Dragunov and Nina
Hworang and Yoshi's Flash*
Tekken 8 is like Street fighter 5 all over again. Many pro said is bad but they keep playing because tournament held
