"Pusser's" name comes from British naval slang for the ship's purser, a naval equivalent of a quartermaster or clerk in charge of managing the ships paychest and supplies, including the rum supply. The company that became Pusser's Rum purchased the rum distilleries which were commissioned to supply the British navy with rum rations up until 1970 thereby giving the brand its naval heritage.
And...Pusser's donates a portion of their income to Royal Navy charities. So not only are you buying a really good dark rum (in a classy squat bottle with a White Ensign on the label), but you're helping out various Royal Navy charities.

The recipe uses Cream of Coconut, not coconut cream, the two are very different despite their names and will give you hugley different flavour profiles.
Cream of Coconut is a mixture of coconut milk boiled with sugar, whereas Coconut Cream, as explained in the video, is just a by-product of cooking shredded coconut.
I don’t think it was completely his fault, I think he just slipped and accidentally said coconut cream . , and then when editing they didn’t know the difference and just googled what coconut crepe was ....but yes this is a huge mistake to inter mix the two and I hope no one actually made it with coconut cream.....would make for a pretty chunky drink.
But this needs to get likes so people don’t accidentally get the wrong thing

just to clarify tihs the official recipe for painkiller is cream of coconut (on the pussers website). Cream of coconut always contains added sugar, however coconut cream is a poorly defined term and is often the same thing as cream of coconut so what he used may have actually been sold as coconut cream,
that said he also added honey to the recipe (which is not in the pusser recipe) which would balance the potentially more tart flavour of the coconut cream
Is it just me or does it feel like this guy does a google search on how to make these cocktails 15min before they shoot? Cause it seems like he makes an egregious error in every video.

For anyone wondering about the Mike's Hot Honey (and also because Brian and Jason are my favorite idiots) - it's absolutely fantastic and I would put it on literally everything if it wasn't all sugar. It's chili-infused and just happens to be a brand that's local to me (made in Brooklyn, NY, the greatest place on earth) so it's really available for me, but they definitely do ship anywhere in the States.
I have 4-5 bottles at any given time.

Best Painkiller was in the now defunct Tikibar called Tikicat in the secret basement of HopCat in Kansas City, of all places. It was considered the best tikibar in the world in 2017. Damn Covid-19.... closing all the places we love.

Had painkillers a LONG time ago in St Croix without OJ, with less pineapple than the Rogues used, and of course, nutmeg. They were awesome!

@@riuphane That's a joke, based on George Lucas not knowing that a parsec isn't a time unit back when he wrote Star Wars.
That's where Solo says, that the Millennium Falcon made the "Kessel Run" (Get it? Get it?) in "under twelve parsecs".
It took them until decades later when they came up with an explanation in "Solo" - Now the story is, that the "Kessel Run" means navigating through a very dangerous sector, where one has to avoid all kinds of horrible stuff and can't just fly in a straight line. And making it through in "under twelve parsecs" now means that Solo took some really dangerous shortcuts when he made the trip.

Ah, trademarked rum drinks. Gosling’s holds the trademark for Dark ‘n Stormy in the US. They throw promotional money at boat parties, so I’m not super annoyed at them. Maybe I ought to rename the cocktails I like to serve aboard my boat anyway. I don’t use dark rum typically, so maybe “Clear Air Squall”?

in fairness, Pusser's only sounds like pus in an American accent - the way I heard it pronounced by a Royal Navy veteran, in pretty much all British accents, the "u" would be more like the "oo" sound in "foot", or "puss" as in a cute word for a cat/ "Puss in boots" - so "Poosser's"

CGPGrey has a wonderful video (a footnote on his 10 animal facts video) about how he tried to find the source of who made up the myth, and couldn't find decent evidence of it. So the claim that it's a paper made up to see how things spread on the internet is just as dubious as the claim itself!
