I watched some of the matches of Somdev Devverman.. and later thought that where has he gone.. There were no news about his matches. His matches were fun to watch..❤
India places much value in crickets and not other games .It is a shame that a big country never produce fantastic sportsman. China on the other hand, heavily invested in equipment and school in most sports. Even snooker has seen a rise in world class Chinese players competing to do the country proud.
For top 20 in country, govt should sponsor the player tours....it's high time to get this done to make this sport great..
Awesome details and presentation, Rupha!
Only women anchor in First post 👏👏👏👏
This is bad of government of India. No financial support for the top indian player is very poor morale from the government. Khelo india is just a slogan? What happened to winning medals in Olympics? If you want medals,u train and support the athletes. Hope sumit gets the support he deserves
thank you team for highlighting these issues engulfing a great sport fraternity.
Can we start a patreon for him??
Rupha did nice. Cricket Badminton Hyped unlike Tennis. So the likes of
Indian Greats including Sania has to take Initiative about promotion.
of Tennis in a Competitive Way Forward with Present Government.
Tennis is a very costly sport because the coaching is so expensive and we need to pay around close to 10k every month for the
coaching itself and tennis strings get worn out easily after 2 to 3 sessions and we need to get it restrung and this cost around 500 to 800 rupees. The next major disadvantage is that only fewer schools and universities in india have a tennis court installed in their campus .
Good news : Sumit nagal found a sponsor gatrode who sponser him
Every Indian state should establish at least one city with sports infrastructure. A mini village should be established to support all such solo and lesser recognised sports. Quality sporting fields, courts, training equipments, trainers and facilities should be provided.
Many sports like Tennis, Badminton, Billiards, Table Tennis, Basketball, Swimming, Archery, Cycling, Rowing, track and field sports have so much potential in India but not properly promoted by government and private institutions.
And government should also organize yearly competitions similar to IPL for these sports and support them through various scholarships right from a young age. Competitive environment is required to produce quality players. Only then India can achieve respectable ranks and medal tally in International events.
This is absolutely correct .. i know this ..
Indians interested in cricket. Govt gives millions of cash and houses to individual cricketers but no basic services to other sports. No wonder India the most populated country with huge economy is almost at the bottom of the sporting world. Even the small tiny impoverished countries are far ahead of India.
All support is for this hackneyed cricket where they only win paytm trophies. Its a shame that 11 people who blame the system, the pitch, the weather and even the fans etc.. etc... are given celebrity status only to lose in the big stage,
Tenis need more sponsors than the BRITISH BEGGARS CRICKET.
Somdev wasn’t in anyway lesser player than Nadal but for the monetary pressures even he wld have been one of the best in the world …
Bad kar bhai comparing some Dev with nadal tmr u will compare Sunil chettri to with messi
😢
some people are saying that we invest in cricket a lot ,but they should remember what other sports are facing today similarly cricket faces in 70's and 80's ,it was the players who achieved world cup and give confindence to indians and we all know that after so many years it was sachin who open the gates for sponsership to cricketers , so what we are witnessing with cricket it took so many years to reach this place
Tennis is a far more expensive sports.
What he said 10000% true.
100% you mean?
problem keya hai sports mai middle class yaa poor ghar k bachehi jate hai jink pas paise hai woh unki bacho ko sirf gharpe lar peyer dete hai or bithak khilate hai or sirf parhai hi karwate hai woh unko sports khel ne k liye bhejte nehi hai most of rich or higher income parents or isk karan in khelo mai utne log jate hi nehi qki itne paise poor yaa lower middle class family afford nehi kar sakti
Cricket cricket cricket that's all. If that's what Indian government care. Why send Indians to asian games and Olympics. Without investment don't expect results
India is predominantly a hindu nation in which the hindu religion considers 85% of the population of hindus as lowly and has even coined a word to suggest inferiority towards them : SHUDRA’s. The parasatic bamman-bania castes who are just under 10% of total hindu population control 80% of wealth and power; thanks to VARNASHRAM RESERVATIONS which facilitated this concentration even to this day…so if this is the pervert socio economic reality of india then how do you expect any progress in this country. Eklavyas like Vinod Kamblis’ will keep getting sacrificed to make way for pampered undeserving ones from the bania-bamman cabal ….
are you stupid
He chose the wrong sports in India 😂
Matket failure !
No useful thoughts from som.. poor interview
There's a reason why everyone in India knows sania and saina.
They actually win the important shit. I don't even know this guy, he's just ranting.
That is because you are not a follower of mens tennis. Sumit Nagal has been a consistent singles player along with Yuki Bhambhri. Nagal also played the 1st round match with Roger Federera in the US Open in 2019. The sports authorities in India do not provide enough funding or sponsorships to tennis players, and Sania Mirza was not successful in her single's career, which is why she turned to the doubles side of the game. In my academy, the top players went to USA for getting a good trainer and sponsorship for the game
@@kyloren630 did he win against Roger Federer??
@@Xinnie_The_Fluhe won a set
@@karthika560 people rarely care about the effort put in, they only care about results. If this guy would have beaten players like Roger or Jokovich then he would have definitely been on the radar and would have garnered a lot more attention.
I know some of the things I'm saying probably make me come off as a dick but it is what it is. That's how the world works, nobody cares about your problems or efforts unless you're successful. You can either choose to be mad about it or put in the work.
Like people have started caring about Neeraj Chopra, even though javelin was never popular in India. I'm sure Neeraj Chopra doesn't have just 80k in his bank account.
Sorry for ranting.
@@karthika560: Winning a set against Fed is like winning a Grand Slam for the structurally disadvantaged indian tennis
He should give up! The guy is absolutely incapable of playing 2 good sets in a row. He routinely loses to guys outside the top 500 , he wins the first , then immediately drops serve in the 2nd , and that is normally the end of the game. Over rated joke player
