- The answer to the question of this video title is…yes! This is the best regular OMEGA Speedmaster to date. When I went to OMEGA HQ last year in Bien/Biel, I was asked what one watch would I like to see be made, and I wearing my Tokyo panda dial edition, I said: "an all-white dial Speedmaster". Now, this is not exactly what I asked for. I would have preferred this to have been monochromatic, but this is very close to being perfect for me.
This watch was 'strategically leaked' well ahead of its official launch at the end of last year on the wrist of James Bond actor Daniel Craig at an event. Since then, speculation of a white non-previous metal Speedie has been rife, and much excitement followed. I'm therefore super pleased to introduce this watch into my collection so soon.
For many, this is a slightly tweaked version of a regular sapphire sandwich Speedmaster. It has the same stainless steel case and OMEGA Calibre 3861 Co-Axial Master Chronometer movement. The same new streamlined bracelet, recently upgraded to include a one-step comfort-adjustment. The only real difference is the dial, but wow, what a difference.
Instead of the usual matt and textured black dial, we have this gorgeous white glossy lacquered dial, retaining its Moonwatch steps for the sub-dials. This adds a much more dressy look to the watch, and stands out from the past silver dials found on the previously mentioned panda, or for example the latest Silver Snoopy. The dial also sports black polished applied indices, matching the hands and the applied OMEGA logo - usually only seen on limited editions.
The red accents have been retained, and are supposed to be a nod to the past Alaska project variances, but it looks like this has been kept to distinguish this version from the all white gold version that had previously been released.
If you are not familiar with the current generation of Speedmasters, they wear incredibly well for a 42mm case. Just over 13mm in height to the boxed-domed sapphire crystal, and with a sapphire crystal on the back showing of the very good looking, though industrially finished movement.

A white box would be awesome, though they reserve those for special editions. My panda Tokyo 2020 edition came in a white box.

Ok guys - come on with all the hype. This is basically just a moon watch like your dad wears with a white dial, so let’s not loose our minds that it’s something ground breaking and new. It’s cool and all, but if you pay over list you’re crazy.
I totally agree with you. The hour markers are so thin that anyone with visual problems or the more senior members of society would have difficulty seeing them. They have done the bracelet perfectly though so one can only hope that they do something similar with the Seamaster Diver 🙏
@@IrishScribbler Who use a watch to read time? Everyone just use their phone nowadays, it's easier and way more accurate. Watches are just jewels, you don't even need to wind your speedmaster, as long as it looks good, that's all we ask.
What exactly are you expecting for a Speedmaster to be groundbreaking? There are literally hundreds of iterations of the Speedmaster so if you don't like this jog on. It looks amazing....nobody is impressed by adding a new colour, it's how it looks that matters. It's absolutely stunning.

Hi, yes it's 16mm as well to match the bracelet. But if you want, there is a 20 to 18mm option, which allows you to use the regular clasps instead. But I wanted the smaller one.
Some of the older HORAGE videos when they were making them should have some footage of all the dials.

I expressed an interest when it was announced, so really, not long at all. If you are in a rush, go to an OMEGA boutique rather than an AD. But these are not limited, so they will eventually be available everywhere.

Hi I tried this watch on in the omega boutique yesterday was very underwhelmed wear's small to dainty boring could be a good unisex watch for smaller wrists size over priced in my opinion.so in answer to your question no it's not the best speed master thanks John.
Thank you for your comments. You should try the automatic versions, like the moonphase or Grey Side of the Moon. I think they will fit you better.

YES. It is the best looking Speedy ever and it does look so good on that black rubber bracelet. I own the Hesalite version and would love to own this one, but I'm not paying $8000 for one when my Speedy only cost $2500 15 years ago.
Your 2500$ is worth way more than 8000$ today because of inflation so you got it for more money back in the days.

For the first time ever I have seen an Omega I would buy. This watch is great.
Well if you want one just go to omega boutique in Liverpool there won't be a rush I was their Saturday at midday for over an hour and I was the only customer in the boutique . Or you could just wait six months and buy it for half the price this is why omega retail is dead.(Had to queue in Rolex ad the same day) Thanks John.
@@JohnBowman-ut4dz I live in France so Liverpool isn't an option for me. There's always people in the Rolex ADs here in Paris and they all want watches that are nigh on impossible to buy. I went to one last September, was treated very nicely, shown the watches I was interested in and they took all my details. I haven't heard a thing since.
@@borjastick hi thanks for your reply if it's the first time buying a watch from the Rolex ad you need to pop in every month or so to become more familiar with you and make a relationship with the same sales person.i no it seems a lot of faff but for the first watch is needed (took me just under 18 months) . It gets better when you have a sales history but don't ask for a Daytona as a first watch John.
