Hi Didi, in the house you have a heating system, in winter when it’s on you will find that clothes will dry quite quick if you hang them on a clothes rack . You can also put clothes in the radiator to dry the odd bits of clothing. I brought my dehumidifier over only because I know in Uk they don’t have many good brands and I like the one I had so I brought it over as it may be handy. But I never used it as I use a dryer, and with soo many clothes to wash, dry, fold and put away O need to be quick so I opted for the dryer. I didn’t want to have clothes in the house blocking my way if you know what I mean.😁

Hi ~ I heard about Swinton, is it a good place to live? How about schools? Thank you

buy a share ownership house ok ma?
It depends, if its share ownership with local council "Help with rent to buy" scheme, it will be more legit. but if just sharing with someone, then it might be a bit complicated when you try to sell the house or in returning taxation.
可以嘅..... a big BUT.....
Why hker often ask whether I need to bring things like matters, electric appliances? Do u think you are going to third world!
Electric fan, oh coming seriously! Depends on which month and whether, unless u arrive at the middle of the heat wave otherwise, plenty available .
May I ask how can I apply ToR in Hong Kong?
Thanks!
Hi there, the moving company will give you guidance, but it’s quite simple really just fill in the form attach with packing list and supporting documents such as residential address, etc.I think for further details you can ask your moving company because I’m scared I may miss out some things. Best to clarify it with a pro!☺️ Best of Luck hope it all goes smooth for you!
Betty in Manchester / 曼活Betty Thx 🙏
Betty in Manchester / 曼活Betty 哦,咁係咪要買定一set filter refill 去?
Have a question. Food and liquid not allow in shipment, but can bring some in the luggage in our flight to UK, is that right? I thought food is not allowed in entering UK??
Hi Heidi,
The shipping agent I used didn’t allow us to ship any foods or liquid. You can check with your shipper if it is the same case.
Depends what foods you are bringing over in your luggage, if you want to be more clear you can take a look at the link below:-

Without TV is not end of the world. I lived without tv for at least 10yrs.
UK! All necessities are available in the, although may have limited choice on specific item. Remember what every u bring won't last forever and you have to prepared you will never ever return to hk.
yeah, back in the 80s/90s shops are very limited in the UK when compare to HK, but I think because of the internet, its so much easier to buy whatever you want in the UK these days.
So thankful ur tips
We HongKonger need to support
Your welcome, thank you for your support!
Betty in Manchester / 曼活Betty thanks, Betty
You forgot about water softners for showers. I freaked out when I lost a bunch of hair after my first month showering in Britain LOL
Tristan Lau haha it may be stress of moving here! We as a family have never had that problem, check out your vitamins too or general diet. Holland and Barrett are good for vitamins!☺️ or Chinese soup.
Hi Betty You are so nice I will buy a new TV in UK but I want to bring my 42" old Tv to UK so I can watch blu-ray disc in my room may I know the fare transport is very expensive ? Thanks
Hi Kai,
If you are already shipping a container, let the shipping person know you want to ship the TV they will be able let you know the costs. The only additional cost would be the box to put it tv in.☺️

www.gov.uk/government/publications/notice-5-transfer-of-residence-moving-to-or-returning-to-the-uk-from-outside-the-eu/notice-5-transfer-of-residence-moving-to-or-returning-to-the-uk-from-outside-the-eu#sec4

Betty in Manchester / 曼活Betty 係呀!
