Def one of the funniest episodes for the podcast. From the "police" raiding Light and Tweek for drug abuse, to the Cilvanis cameos, to Light saying some of the most wild stuff lmao.
Mango, Zero, Nairo, Leo, Spargo, and now Shadic... I'm convinved there's a hidden slab out there with ancient text telling about the Prophecy of the Hispanic Children of Smash.
@@eneruem was gonna include him, Hbox, and Sonix but I couldnt remember how young they were when they started cooking (also the names ending with an O sound sounded nice lol)
The Tokyo boot camp invitational didn't count because the TOs asked for it to not count, so the disparity between these events wasn't random. Also invitationals counting has been the standard since the beginning of Ult, people don't say Summits were unserious. the difference is things like bo5, multiple days for the event and having vote ins/qualifiers.
would like to mention that light's record vs top japanese players is actually only 13-13 in the post quarantine era! he is negative against shuton, acola, miya, and asimo with even records against ken and protobanham : )
Can't believe the shadic vs anathema grands at the local after the invitational wasn't mentioned. Not only did shadic win another event, anathema started celebrating prematurely near the end of game 4, throwing the game and ultimately giving shadic the chance to clutch the set.
Why Light don't admit japan>NA overall? Japanese middle level(top 20~50 in japan)players often upset NA top players in japan and NA,but NAs middle level players don't upset top Japanese players often. Players level gap is obvious
It's because when the player get familiar with Japan, they get the highest players of that region out of the bracket stupid early, and it doesn't help that Sparg0 and Sonix do better than Japan. Light and Dabuz also demolished Japan's very best players and had harder fights with players in this region.
@@justice8718 Light is 13-13 with Japanese players post quarantine so I think it's more of a perception thing. Dabuz was underperforming in every tournament except the Kagaribi at the end of his week in Japan last year, but he went game 5 so often I believe he has the record for the most games lost in a tournament run, so demolished Japan's best is not very true. He even has a losing record against most top Japanese players.
@@ktrZetto So what? Records don't mean anything at the day when Dabuz and Light already adapted to these players just from the very few sets they've encountered of these players.
Why is Light mad about Lvl Up Expo not being an A tier, if he wins he'll have very good head to heads against top talent and be ranked high, so its not for personal reasons, because rankings aren't just tallying point totals of won tournaments. The point breakdown of the two events only came down hidden bosses being the difference between an a tier and lvl up expo. If Lvl up expo just drove out a bunch of PR players from nearby regions they'd reach A tier using the same method as the other tournament and wouldn't change the outcome for Light at all. The biggest outcome of a tournament being an A tier is that it can appoint point values to players for its placings, which shouldn't matter to Light at all.
That is most likely the reason. Light probably just does not know that the events tier being A instead of B+ would make almost no difference for his ranking
15:12 That explains the sephiroth. I was also pretty disappointed with Leo's plays in the tournament. I hope the 2 goats come back strong next tournament. Edit: didn't know about proto. One of my favorite Japanese players. Hope the best for him.
I think people underestimate the pressure or toll of having to travel across the the world for a tournament, we're used to the japanese doing it since they do it all the time but that has to be a factor to take into account. (Here after Delta 8, which surprisingly had all japanese top 8.)
I thought Light was chatting shit until I saw the attendance list for LVL UP Expo. There's maybe a case for A but it's not a big tournament and the competition is just eh-- pretty solid names overall. Making a comparison to Maesuma adds no value to his point. With how much he talks about Japan (every week) he shouldn't be surprised it was seen as a snide remark.😂
7:34 I used to go to the Miami locals all the time, and this was always a persistent issue. NEVER enough setups. If you wanted to practice at the venue, you either had to show up hours early or stay past the tournament
What if the next luminosity invitational took inspiration from the coinbox invitational. Have a bracket for two more qualifiers to to get into the invitational part???
i haven't seen anything with cosmos in a while because i don't like watching people complacent with their failure, but I know he's been trying harder to take the game seriously and it shows in his demeanor here. good stuff. don't stop. for once i'm not disappointed in him; i'm proud and hopeful to see him grow.
41:28 ''Go fuck yourself, I can do what I want'' I agree. People need to stop saying that players need to travel. And by ''people'', I'm including you guys lol. You know what I'm referring to.
As of right now shadic is clearly the best in the u.s just based off what he’s been doing this year compared to anyone else. Can’t say tweek is better than shadic currently based on previous win results against each other when they haven’t played each other this year and obviously shadic is playing like a different person, just give it to the kid for once.
In addition to what EE said, Tweek also beat Shadic at Genesis. That said, I can see the argument for putting Shadic above Tweek in spite of the H2H. Shadic’s been more consistent
@@EEvisu my apologies he did beat shadic but like I said before previous wins on someone doesn’t define you being the best in the world it’s results if that was the case then spargo would be number 1 instead of acola

Shadics reminiscent of Big D, kinda hit a breakthrough point and became real top level material skill wise and starting getting high placements with a character a lot of people aren’t used to at that top level. Big D’s kinda fallen off a bit as I assume people have gotten used to the character’s gimmicks on a top level player but I don’t know if the same’ll happen to Shadic as much cause Corrin’s pretty good in contrast to Icies being like mid tier.
Light can beat top Japanese players but cant beat middle uncommon characters players for sure.Light is confident now because many Japanese players who can beat NA top players don't come NA so far.Light should come to japan to prove he actually can beat most Japanese players if not he scared
Light destroyed Miya last time they played in 2 sets, so this whole "too scared to play mid level japanese players", sounds like some complete bullshit
@@peashooter6628 I mean Light beat top players like miya don't mean he don't lose to lower level players at all. Some NA top players like zomba, muteace,AK,dabuz beat top Japanese players but lost to mid Japanese players in japan as well .
