“Is my netcode bad? No, it’s the commentators who are wrong.”
I read that in a Principal Skinner voice
Capcom knew that they were too lazy to fix their netcode. So instead of reflecting on themselves, they blamed the commentators.
lol nice!
It's hard to "fix" a netcode. Nearly impossible several years after a release. Imagine transferring all the data.
@@8Kazuja8 I think it's pretty clear that Capcom isn't going to do anything with the netcode at this point for SF5, after the last character comes out in a few months they're gonna be done with this game entirely, so there's no reason for them to put in extra money into this game. It's not a good thing of course, and I really hope they don't fuck up the netcode for their next game otherwise it'll probably kill them.
@@8Kazuja8 Capcom doesn't invest a lot of money in Street Fighter anymore. Its not like Resident Evil, DMC or Monster Hunter.
@@Kara-de5cz Yeah! Just how Skullgirls, for example, didn’t ever add rollback and now has amazing netcode. You’re right, it’s impossible

"SAJAM died for this!"

“They hated him because he spoke the truth”
Its never been more true
I love David's recovery when Punk answers LOL
What a nerd
Punk: Water is wet.
Capcom: And I took that personally.
You can see in the clip that the commentators shat themselves the moment Punk mentioned Guilty Gear

Man really went on an ad for Coca Cola and shotgunned a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi with the label out. King shit.
I know Punk is pretty controversial for a number of reasons, but personally I'm glad that he just puts himself out there to say things that other players (quite understandably) wouldn't.
ArcSys tried running that DBFZ tournament online and top players (like Sonic) were refusing because it would've been a terrible experience online. Now they got rollback in Strive. More players need to be like Punk and stand for what they believe is the voice of the community for the games they love/ make a living off of.
The ambassador of Rollbackia accepts all delay-based refugees.
"they should consider not blaming the beast" @3:17 is probably low-key one of the nastiest burns I've heard against the Capcom mentality in a minute 👍🤌
"what's going to happen to poor punk?"
Punk: "I'ma just play guilty gear"
I dont see why pointing out the blatantly obvious is a controversial act. Corporations aren't your friend, you should be able to critiscize them without fear of public backlash
You should be able to criticise them, but do it on your own time. They are not obliged to give you the platform to voice your complaints, and generally on their platform they set the rules. Even if the rule is stupid, even if the rule is crazy, you either accept the terms or you don't speak on that platform at all
@@TheThinkerClown that’s not one of their rules tho.
@@TheThinkerClown While it can be rather scummy to do it that way, (unless i'm missing something) nothing states you aren't allowed to do that. The reason Punk spoke at that moment in particular is likely because there were a lot of people watching, making his complaint reach more voices. I'm not saying that Punk SHOULD have done it that way, but no one's stopping him. I probably wouldnt have done it that way, but I'm not Punk or a pro player either where lag plays a big part in your career.
You're not getting public backlash though; you're getting corporate backlash.
Even capcom knows that they online (outside of japan) sucks ass, only exception was MvCI.
Just by the thumbnail alone I can already tell this one is gonna be a banger

Moral of the story. Fix the netcode (please).
That “fix the netcode” bumper is gold 😂
It's so fucking scary to see how Capcom can mess with someone's way of making a living on a whim like that (and for something so fucking trivial and obvious). I'm really happy that your content has been doing so good. That said, I still hope to get to see you commentate whenever big events are safe to return, whatever game it may be. :D
It's not just Capcom lol, everyone can mess with your way of living. Never had a customer whine too much about some employee?
@@Doge10YT Yeah, that's true, but I guess my point was of how much of a random decision it is to just stop hiring someone for events based on the fact that he stated something objective xD
@@twTheivid "Doing so well", not "doing so good". How old are you?
@@Gankstomper Relax, my dude. I think it's okay to make a dumb mistake in one of the three languages I speak.
I'm not surprised tbh. Bamco did the same thing and blacklisted Arya (That Blasted Salami) for criticizing Tekken and he's not even a commentator. It's kinda sad how these companies don't give a solitary shit and will drop you in a heartbeat. They'd rather burn their communities to the ground than fix their game.
What happened to Aris?
@@Sonicboom238 Arya, not Aris.
Unfortunately, when corporations like these have large enough install bases, they can afford to alienate specific groups that could harm their game’s perception.
Nintendo comes to mind. They are selling Skyward Sword HD for $60 10 years after the game released on the Wii. You can still buy SS for Wii, and it’s $20, or emulate it for FREE. Nintendo also locked a key feature that significantly improves the gameplay experience behind a $25 plastic trophy, and it acts like physical DLC. I think that sucks, even as someone who REALLY likes Skyward Sword, and would love to experience the game and it’s skippable cutscenes, improved frame rate, and better pacing. I just don’t want to pay $60 for a game I already have.
More pointedly, Smash Ultimate Online is HORRENDOUSLY BAD! BAMCO, Sora LTD and Nintendo are very unlikely to improve the game’s online play(partially because there’s a ton that takes creating rollback netcode, especially for a game with 80+ characters and 4 player Free For All matches happening). Even though it would make the game SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER both as a casual game and a Competitive game, The powers that be are unlikely to make that improvement, since rollback is a big investment, the game is coming to an end with its DLC, nearing the end of its development, the game already SOLD Like GANGBUSTERS, and money/ sales is what they care about more than customer loyalty, and the Devs probably want to move onto something else, and dedicate their time to a new project.
I have a feeling that’s why Nintendo and others don’t like Competitive SSB. Grassroots communities don’t worry much about moderation, and have no problems with speaking their minds. There’s less pressure to respect the creators when those creators are distancing themselves from your scene. It’s also (frustratingly) within their power to take down our tournaments because we didn’t get authorization from Nintendo to play the game, publicize it, and run adds to make money off of it. That’s part of the risk you get from not getting permission from the owner. Like when you pirate a movie or Plagiarize a text.

It’s a rude awakening if you ever overvalue yourself for too long.
One thing you learn as an adult and you should try not to learn the hard way : YOU ARE REPLACEABLE

Samsho’s netcode legit hurts me inside hurrrrrts
I get the feeling with the recent releases including rollback that it's only a matter of time at this point before all new releases have it. The only major player I could see not doing it would be bamco but by the time they make another game im sure the pressure on them to include rollback will only be higher.
Good video. And super glad you are having success with the content and streams!
Honestly if I were Capcom, I've given on better netcode by now. If I release SF6 with good netcode all the Rollbackians would now be obliged to support it. The hype for a new game is more worth it than an old game that is being usurped pretty soon.
If Capcom releases yet another Street Fighter without good netcode, then all the Street Fighter fans will be obliged to support it. Ask me how I know.
MvCI has netcode with none of the big issues with one sided rollback that SFV has, so Capcom has learned something at least.
I hope you get to do CPT events again. Love your commentary
No sajam no watch only result
That king kong profile missed out on a great opportunity to use a picture of Winston from Overwatch in front of a computer as their profile pic.
Imma ask this, may have been asked or answered before (I dont catch every video and i dont watch streams too often), but for future Capcom games would you commentate again if reached out to? And I mean hired by Capcom, for like a CPT event. Im just curious really.
Hearing you talk about commentary as someone who enjoys doing it themselves is super interesting every time.
My man out here breaking down labor struggle hella casually. dope
Good commentators have made me watch more matches/longer than I would otherwise would have though.
Props to guys like Punk and Sajam who are out here fighting the good fight. Maybe someday Capcom will wake up and fix their shitty netcode as a result. Obviously legions of unknown fans complaining about the netcode isn't enough to move the needle.
I quit playing UNIST because I couldn't play it online. I fucking LOVE that game, the fact that BBCF got rollback gives me hope
I will never be able to just move on with less sajam in my life !
I had a real shit night at work, come home and decide to watch this. The ending made my whole morning.
Yeah you don't need to be ultra knowledgeable about a fighting game to provide hype commentary. Yipes is a good example, I'm not saying he doesn't know anything but by his own admission he's kind of a noob at Strive but I still love hearing him commentate. Aris commentating SF4 was pretty legendary too lol.
If it's a huge tournament though, that's when you need the people who know their stuff.
That's just large corporations for you. Glad it didn't hurt you too bad
It's a shame whoever at Capcom reacted the way that they did, I do miss Sajam doing SF stuff
same. Love his SF match analysis.
For now, Brian_F is the alternative. What do you think about him @atestinal?
@@lucaswibisono1316 I haven't watched any match analysis Brian might have done, but I have watched some of his discussion videos, like "Competition and Anxiety" and "How to become a professional fighting game player," both of which I really liked
i disagree with one thing sajam said, some people actually watch for good commentary not just to watch street fighter. I'm more inclined to sit a watch a top 8 if my favorite commentator is working
That’s how I felt when Marvel was big, didn’t care about half the matches but enjoyed some good ass commentary. Without that I wouldn’t have tuned in to half the tournaments. I can imagine how some Sajam fans might feel about him missing.
I'm like this with a lot of stuff, largely because I watch content in the background. Fighting games, Dota 2, speedruns; I love them all, but I'm not watching if your commentary doesn't function. I can't keep my eyes glued to the screen the whole time.
yeah no disrespect to saint cola but im not diggin his commentary ... sajam and tasty steve is pretty good yipes , rynge and vicous also pretty good
I desperately want sf6 to be the best online fg ever.. really glad to have gg strive

The only announcers at EVO are not professionals. They're just NPCs.
4:44 is how I felt watching Kizzie Kay commentate for Gundam Exvs at Evo a few weeks back. Man kept talking but didn’t know what he was actually talking about.
Oh ya dude kizzie's commentary on gundam was kinda weird to watch. Cause you knew he really only had like a surface level knowledge of the game. So he couldn't really tell or call out some of the amazing plays going on.
One of the prime reasons to hate esports.
Tournaments used to all be community driven, esports are corporate driven
People gotta understand that events can just kick out commentators whenever they like cuz there is ALWAYS going to be another mic vulture waiting in the wings, thinking that they’re gonna be the next Yipes
Hasn’t punk been vocal about sfv netcode? I think it was the Honda Karin match.
I’m worried for Punk’s life… Capcom takes things personally. They might find him in that bed bled out, but no one will be able to tell from the sheets 😂
What does LCQ mean?
I keep thinking about Sajam's other video about how if these FGC makers could clone commentators, Tasty Steve would be finished lol
Capcom next remaster should be their netcode
so that capcom guy got fired, since you are back? cant be ono because he is gone long time ago :p who was it?
The title sounds like a threat lol
What's with the 10 million cuts? Was this from a live stream or something?
Instead of reflecting on the netcode they blamed the commentators! Ready? Duel 1! Let’s rock
"Commentators are Replaceable" not all the time but mostly yes.
Did anyone upload the Punk interview on YT? I need to see this
Punk earned my respect
Why is Yipes not commentating no more?
SFV is great local play game. I honestly have more fun playing SFV when someone comes over than I do playing Strive. However, I a Boomer now. Local play with friends is something I can do 4, maybe 5, times a year; and that's when only there's a pandemic going on. So yeah, I'm playing Strive every day.
It's a shame though, because you actually put out your own SFV content that I really enjoyed. Everyone thinks the netcode is trash, it's not a secret but the game itself is great. Their just too late in development I think that they don't see it being worth to overhaul the netcode.
Always remember to diversify your income steams.
They GOT TO get the netcode right in 6 with so much competition now it will really hurt 6 if the online is bad again
this is just another reason why commentators need a union
There are so many, many professions that need unions. Some of them I didn't even think about until the pandemic, especially in countries with f'd up governments.
@@v312ym34n_is_very_mean honestly just about every job could use a union to fight against awful CEOs and most corperate structures

If Capcom is saving money with replacing commentators at their tournaments, then they can fix the netcode.
Yeah. Thats real life shit. Someone in a higher position than you in terms of your job doesn't like you for whatever reason and no matter how much good work you put in and no matter what anyone else around you is doing, they're just waiting and tryna find a reason to shit on you and/or get rid of you. Specifically you. They don't give af about what someone else is doing that's debatably worse. It fuckin sucks. And the worst part is that if someone thinks like that, there's no way to turn em around to change their mindset and have em treat you fairly. You're dealing with it really well though. Keep up the good work
I think "grumpy" is my favorite Sajamism. Salty players complaining about Sol? Grumpy. Capcom blacklisting Sajam? Grumpy. China invading Taiwan and starting WW3? Grumpy.
Keep spittin’ truth Sajam.
i've never seen this panda guy before but he seems like if danny brown was from minnesota
I love Sajam he’s one my favorite commentators it sucks he’s not doing SFV but I understand his frustration with the game. The netcode is terrible
sajam, id liek to hear who your favorite commentator is? my personal favorite is majin obama
What's an LCQ?
Last Chance Qualifier. Open tournament held the day before an invite only tournament at the same venue with the prize being entry to the invite only tournament.
CPT may have moved on, but I haven't! Much love. I miss hearing you instead of thinking I hear you when other white dudes commentate on stream.
This was my clip LMAO
Aside from all the net code malarkey Capcom is ignoring, their fighting game division is just a complete mess of inadequacy and low quality all around. This is supposed to be the same company that managed to clean up their past acts with new awesome games like DMCV, Monster Hunter, and Resident Evil, but for some reason their FG section (and the esports part as a whole) has just been nothing but soulless, corporate self fellating that continues to not actively engage and listen to their competitive audience, but also set the casual players to the wayside so much that they didn't even reach their sales goal with Street Fighter V that first year. If other games like MK11 and Guilty Gear can implement well needed features, including net code, then a big mainstream Japanese video game house like Capcom can have no excuse. They're just feigning ignorance and apathy at this point.
At least they had enough sense to kick Ono out.
4:37 yeah I see that a lot too.
Punk is a legend
King Kong been mighty quiet for a while just sayin
Strive is on the up and up if you start commentating the community might get even more interesting
tbh I just really miss you doing CPT stuff
Hey yo, sajam. Get a haircut my dawg.
To your point on how most people just move on since you are not commentating SFV as much, I have watched and rewatched so many of your SFV match analysis videos, and your analysis and commentary and youtube breakdowns are one of the things that REALLY got me into SFV to where it is my most played game ever. I definitely feel a gap because I love the analytical side of what you bring as well as the synergy you seemed to have with so many different other commentators. I don't think its a coincidence that watching your streams and you playing strive is a reason why I have gotten so into strive either. When you stopped commentating I definitely have been more distant from SFV than before cuz I def miss your commentary in tournaments a lot for it
You love to see it.
