  • “Overrated”. “Misunderstood”. “Complicated”. “Man-hating”. These are just some of the descriptions that many come up with when asked to describe feminism in Pakistan. Many feminists even choose to disassociate themselves from the “F” word.
Why does this confusion exist? One guess is that there is a lack of awareness about the movement and where it originated. Another guess is that we are unsure of how feminism applies to us in our surroundings.
Join us at T2F for a panel discussion with esteemed experts Areesha Banglani, Shandana Minhas, Adnan Sarwar and Sohai Ali Abro, who debunk the controversy around the word ‘feminism’ and try to explain why a country like Pakistan is in dire need of understanding its responsibility towards women.
    About the project:
Laraka Larki is a feminist public advocacy initiative that aims to empower women and other marginalized groups in Pakistan by helping them discover their rights as citizens, and by teaching them to fight back.

Agree that superficial pseudo feminism with their man-hating slogans have not only forced men to feel threatened and be defensive , and distracted focus from harsh issues and realities prevail esp in rural areas

I have a serious critique and this has nothing to do with the panel. This is strictly an observation I have made from taking a close look at the audience and background which nobody is talking about. You guys (T2F) are having this seminar yet your audience, EVERY SINGLE last one of them either A) Has there arms crossed or B)On there mobile, A: tells me that those people are very insecure about what your the discussion or have there own belief/reservation on feminism, B: Tells me that those people don't give a f*** about what your saying and are only here so they "stay relevant" or not be outed for being "anti woman" and or don't want to let there colleagues down. Being on 📱is BEYOND RUDE and unacceptable in a professional forum, yahni ap loaug ikh white western idealogue adapt karna charay hay magar samaeen aik JOKE HAY!!! This is should be considered a women's civil rights movement not a western style "wave".
I am just an American 🇵🇰 (born and raised in U.S.), I don't know the degrees of struggle in 🇵🇰 and want to strictly remain a neutral observer at this point.

Ur sentiment is quite right and i agree..but feminism nowadays have become a fashion almost everywhere. People dont take it seriously anymore, they just nod their heads and go along with just anything which is said to be "the correct thing" to show they arent against it other wise they will be judged as wrong nd stuff. Anyone nowadays just call themselves feminists so they receive an applause as they r doing "the right thing". But in reality they r just feminists by name and do not actually give a sh*t.
Real feminists do not just go around and agree on everything about womens rights...they have to contribute by making little changes in their lives by persuading people and spreading awareness about feminism and women rights.

Very nice, but if you edit it to 15 minutes or 40 minutes videos it will be more effective. These days people have shorter attention span. All videos are great. 😀

It's like everyone is ADD now, and catering to it will obviously make us lazy.

Why's the talk done in English? Isn't it better to speak the main language of the country.
You only reach a certain demographic within Pakistan too then.

@@antonchekov540 Indeed, but if feminism is inclusive and democratic should not it be talked about in a language that is understood by majority of the marginalized groups the esteemed Panelists are talking about?

you have created controversies and confusions about feminism by talking it in English. Majority people in Pakistan cannot understand your medium of communication. so, feminism is ''tehreek-e-naswan in urdu.
