I watched this video last night when I was entertaining with My dad and my God father after listening to the new rolling stones album in full they went to there 1st donington in 1985 watching this footage from.1984 reminded them of 85 and 86 the story's and there memories was nice to hear wish I was around then
Think I went that one,ZZ TOP headlined, fantastic and the weather was beautiful, ask your Dad if he remembers about 15 lads jumping over the fence on the hill behind the stage, security caught one of my mates, but another one of us,swept the Security guys feet from under him,and the crowd cheered like we'd scored a goal at Wembley! 😂😂😂 great times!
I was there and in many ways I still am.
My God! I was there. Best lineup ever. The sun shone and shone!
Yup.
First time I'd seen AC/DC live,my god they were amazing!
What is it with Jake at his best whatever he plays sounds like it has teeth and claws ABSOLUTELY second to none ❤️😊🤟
Thanks for sharing it’s awesome but for one of the best concerts in rock history footage is so rare 🙂↕️
The best festival I ever attended. Great line up, great day.
Same here. Best Donington easy.
Weather was superb@@grahamtaylor8912
I was there, what a day, other bands, Van Hallen, YT, Motley Crew, ACDC, and others
Gary Moore, And Ozzy,
@@bigbaza30 Best Donington ever.
@@bigbaza30 And Accept, who blew all the others away except AC/DC of course.
80s ❤
I've been hoping to see the 14 year old me, went to see AC/DC, but loved the whole day, my first outdoor gig, what an amazing day, even now I'm 50 watching this its like it was yesterday, the heavy metal family nothing quite like em. 🤘😎🤘
Was there as others say THE best day line up ever - thanks for sharing
What an amazing day, plus it was my very first gig ever, unbelievable, I can remember it like it was just yesterday.
mine too, rode there and back on a RD 250 LC
This was my first festival, my mum took me and we met my brother and his mates there, I've been to loads of festivals since and this line up still hasn't been topped 💀🤘
What a first gig to attend, did you get baptised with any piss? 😂😂😂
My first gig. Nearly missed the coach back to Swansea
Lemmy offering someone out for a fight for firing a flare into the crowd
How phenomenal is Jake here ? Playing his ass off live just kills it .No one after Randy except Jake E. Lee ,he plays so great his playing is so way beyond others !
He's a real master of the guitar. His playing here is just awesome!!!!!
i was there, Monsters of Rock had a great atmosphere!!
Was lucky enough to score a ozzy event shirt from this gig!!!
We were around the back trying to get backstage, when up walks Ozzy in his cape (remember that) and on his own,so he stopped had a chat with us,we told him we loved him,and we were delighted!
I'm impressed. Back in the day, a camcorder could not have been small and discreet. Kudos to you for getting something like that in and filming the show.
I didn't film it, but I did buy it from the lad who did, who incidentally shot many shows at Sheffield City Hall and it always amazed me how he smuggled in a huge camcorder, sadly at the prices he was charging some of his videos never ever got shared.
Back in the day when all us guys took off our T Shirts for the whole day!
I was there close to the stage in the front. What a great mémory. The golden years of my rock'n'roll life
I was brought a ticket for my 18th birthday, then got nicked on my birthday .no bail strait to chelmsford prison.i never did get over not being able to attend this gig.
So to whoever filmed this .. Well done! You had foresight.. You're arms must of been quite tired after an hour and fourteen minutes.
This is a video I prayed for . I was there at the age of fifteen ( fifty one now) . The sound quality is pretty good. How good did this band sound F.ing Awesome!!!... Jake E Lee killed it ,murdered it...owned it. He took Randy Rhoads music and gave it back to us.
Thank you so much for posting this video.
I was there with friends I'd just left school with . The sky rained black with plastic bottles some with remnants of cider or lager most with piss in. Made for sticky long hair and a matchstick head tan. Every minute and a half a plastic bottle would hit you on the head if you were deep in the crowd... I've just listened and watched and was transported back to a seminal point in my life. UA-cam or the people who share videos are a magnificent thing. 😏😝🤘🏻
I wish we could find the filmer, he recorded pretty much all the bands on the bill...I could only afford to buy Ozzy at the time at roughly £10 a pop...my pocket's in 1984 where not deep enough to buy more.
@@spikesrock1 It's amazing that after 35 years this footage has surfaced. I was in the bootleg trading circuit 13 years ago. Collecting footage of Motley Crue, Ozzy, and every other 80's band. So I know what shows are circulating. This is new to me, unbelievable.
I was there too. I thought it was bloody awful. Awful sound. We just ended up chatting about something else. Not loud enough either.
@@philjones45 Odd It was loud as hell where I was stood.
Yeah i loved it. Motorhead kicked ass and bad news
I am just astounded that someone managed to sneak in a huge VHS camera to film this!
What a day!!! I can smell the patchouli oil as if I was still there 🤟🤟🤟
The smell of Heavy Rock!
I was there. Great Festival..
Was there and missed most of his set at A&E having taken a hit from a bottle and got 4 stitches. Back in time just before paranoid and remember the gold disc presentation and can still remember Tommy Aldridge just chucking his to the floor.
look at the number of bottles flying tho! jeez!
Oh my god was there that day with my m8 Harry what a great concert
I remember the crew lad going on stage to wipe the water/beer/piss off during Ozzy's set and Ozzy tore his T-shirt off and into ribbons, nutter lol
He was briliant that day. I was right up the front. Fantastic day.
OMG this amazing, didn’t know there was footage of this, i was there 16 years old.. ..thank you for uploading this..
Same! One of the best days of my life!
Me too. Amazing times and memories
Donington '81 / '84 & Knebworth '85........i remember camera crews around and in front of the stage all day long for each band. What happened to all that stuff...? Nothing in nearly 40 years.
ACDC got filmed for tv, its on youtube but bad quality.. ua-cam.com/video/ybOYd2NgZzs/v-deo.html
Deep Purple Knebworth 85? it rained the whole fuckin day!
The best ever Donington.
This was pretty much my view of the whole day ! :) Great lineup and a great day out though.
I can almost taste those Marlboros all over again, was all you could get once you were in
FREE Marlboros! Promo girls walking around handing out packets.
@@DaveMcleanJr them Marlboros always destroyed my chest,we only wanted them to roll a spliff!
i was there
I was there at 14 yrs old with my brother who was 16
FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!!!!! I had heard rumors of the existence of this bootleg footage back in 84 and have been searching for it since.
Great memories of a great day. I can still feel the pain of the hefty plastic cider jug that hit me full in the face during an epic piss bottle fight.
Can anybody remember the bloke dancing round the fire in his underpants, one of the tires that were burning exploded and covered him in burning rubber and hot ash ... the screams ..... funny as f*ck !!!
Those were the days !!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for posting : ) : ) : )
What a line up ,I was there
the ultimate experiance of my life awesome festival i was 16
I was there great day was had by all
Takes me back, thanks 🤘
Feels like im at a real concert, cant see a fuckin thing. 😎
My pal got knocked out by a whiskey bottle, well that's what he tells the girls. It was a packet of custard creams that hit him in the back of the neck.
Fantastic comment! Pmsl!! \m/ (:o)
hahah
Do your remember the medieval battle renactment about 7pm? only instead of swords,it was bottles of piss!
Cool
I was there and never saw Ozzy play a better performance than then!! It was intense! I think cos it was such a short set!
If I remember, didn't he say "I'll headline this next time"?
If you're out there Steve Plant, of the "Video Plant" please get in touch...love to find more footage from this and other festivals that you shot.
I think Steve Plant "retired" many years ago. When he was around, I got Magnum, Iron Maiden from him (think I still have his catalogue). Pretty sure he filmed "The Garden Party " in Milton Keynes. Also Queen at Knebworth in 86.
@@gigaddictionyes I believe you are correct, I was amazed at the quality of his camera work especially at Sheffield City Hall (surely he must of had permission?) , and standing at Donington Park all day holding a massive camera takes some doing!, I couldn't afford to buy copies of Motley, Accept, Y&T and Gary Moore at the time...it's only now they are of "historic value". I do have his AC/DC footage as well but as the video screen feed appeared online it's not top priority to upload it.
It's good to hear from you and hope you are well, you are are a legend in concert recording and gig going👍.
Ah the bottle fights
I was there. I seem to remember Ozzy having extendable bat wings... But that might have been a nightmare.
I'm pretty sure you are right, I remember a picture in a review the week after..
Donington piss (monsters of piss festival ) 1984
The throwing of plastic 2 ltr bottles really got out of hand. lol
Yes I was there and it was just raining bottles of piss all day
Twas a sport back in the day.
@@pontesieve and cans!
flying piss
Shouldve been at reading rock few years later
Bad news played
Vc tem o show do Motley Crüe 1984 donnington festival? ?????
Did he record AC/DC
I was there..haa wish I was on film.unusual for so.eone filming fromcrowd in 1984 probably had a large video tape camera as well. I remember the bottles of piss getting thrown. Ozzy went down well..but as you can hear he never had a great voice.
The video doesn't really do justice to how great he was on the day.
I was up front, the crowd went wild seemed for the whole set.
You would need an aerial shot to get a complete picture.
It's incredible that you had the footage, thanks for uploading it, much appreciated.
Gary Moore was the main man that day
I was there but cant remember much about Accept, Motley Crue or Y&T, however Gary Moore was legendary. Van Halen were too much for me, too long guitar solos and Dave Lee Roths jokes!? I was there for Ozzy & AC/DC who were amazing, I'd seen them both previously at the Apollo in Glasgow. It was the year before I joined the RAF and I was only 16 still at school and travelled down on a bus with my mate big Jim Harvey from Auchinleck in Ayrshire Scotland I remember it took ages. I can still see the flying bottles of piss and the shit Tommy Vance got was hilarious.
Gary Moore was awesome this day I agree.
What have we got at down load this time,Busted holy 💩 how society has fallen 😂
um, where is the stage all i see is the back of ppls heads
The camera guy is far away. But the fact that this exist is still unbelievable. At the very least, you can get the vibe of what it's like to be there.
Jake E Lee probably stole the show as far as guitarists go this day, and he had competition from Angus Young, Eddie Van Halen and Gary Moore.
Was there was there there there there there there there ho I was there there there
Heads
He couldn't get closer?😀
Too bad no camera close up😏
Who on guitar
Jake E.Lee
I can't remember if Gary Moore performed?
Gary Moore played before Ozzy on the day.
@@spikesrock1 Cheers Steve, Was a great day came up with a group of mates from Norfolk and slept in a tent!
@@pontesieve I travelled up from Swindon on a coach, because of traffic congestion missed Motley Crue and just caught the end of Accept, it was still a great day!
The video I bought for about £15 in 1986.
He had all the other groups on the bill as well but I just couldn't afford to buy them, apart from his video of Van Halen no others have turned up online.
@@spikesrock1 Yep- sounds familiar. Ozzy took the day for me- thought Van Halen were a huge let down (10 min bass solo on second song FFS!)
@@itsweetabixday7550 the 15 min EVH solo seemed to drag on for what seemed like an hour🤔, but saying that it was the festival of a lifetime🤘
I was there .
Ozzy threatened to leave if people didnt stop.throwing 2 litre plastic bottles at the stage.
Nobody stopped lol and ozzy kept singing .
He was angry that they were empty!
About 15 minutes into ozzy there was a surge . I got pulled over the barriers at the front by the security lads as I was getting crushed. At least I managed to get a glimpse of what it looked like backstage.
People continually invaded the stage to shake his hand, and he shook every one!
Randy Rhoads was the best!
Randy wasn't playing
Its Jake E.Lee
Potentially THE worst footage of any gig ever posted to UA-cam...
STRIKE. Worth it, punk?
