I bought one of these 7 years ago and it is 100% reliable. You have to get clever with small amounts of wet snow but in deep snow it chucks and clears like nothing else.
I just picked up a used 8 hp, 24" unit and it seems to be a pretty good machine. After installing an impeller kit (put them on all my blowers) and a few adjustments, it works wonders and deep snow! They did cut corners on some parts of them machines but I fix stuff for a hobby, so it's not a problem for me. Not built as good as my old Toro (which will last forever) but it's still better than the new machines they sell now.
I had trouble with mine with the tires sometimes losing traction. Mainly at the end of the driveway where the snowplow leaves a "mountain" as it plows the road and/or heavy wet snow. So during those times I really had to push it to get it to move,so I put tire chains on it and after that I wished I would have done it the day I bought the snowblower. I used it the first year without chains and after putting chains on it for the second year of use I kicked myself every other day for not doing the chains first thing. I never really thought about chains for it until I searched the internet. They make a world of difference. Almost all the time now it will walk itself through most all of the tough stuff.
Thanks! I like some areas here, but I am originally from the Pacific Northwest, I miss it all the time! We’ll move back some day. 😊 Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it! Take care!
i dont know what im doing wrong but i got the same one and its tires spin a lot and the blower wants to run up the snow piles instead of cutting it down, wondering if my skid shoes are too low and or tires got too much air i dont know planned to use it for driveway and sidewalks with a foot and half of snow but the testing in my drive didnt go well so havent took it around front since i'd have to plow everyone elses first before mine, i got a deck and shed blocking my path to just simply take it to the front is why id have to walk it around the block and do everyone else's haha :( my smaller 1 stage stalled out in front its too deep for that poor thing
Hey there Joel! Yeah, I am so glad we got this, helps tremendously! The carts are great, but yeah, almost useless in deep snow. Lol! Thanks for watching! Take care friend!
Hey I got this exact blower and noticed the idle is a bit bouncy when running on RUN, but if I let it on 1 notch above FULL CHOKE (2 out of 4 clicks) it runs perfect. Why?
I've heard some people say that they deliberately make these carburetors run lean because of EPA regulations. All my neighbors have newer snowblowers in mine all I could hear when they were out was their engine surging. My old 9 horsepower Tecumseh engine was running smoothly.
Probly needs, carb done. The float/needle may need adjusting, and/or jets partially plugged. The emulsion tube holes, may be blocked. Take off carb, check for screen/filter in fuel petcock by tank, and/or into carb. Make sure, it is securely tightened to motor housing; any air/vacuum leaks would also cause this. Look inside fuel tank, ? '' is it dirty '' ? inside ? good luck.
Hello, from Alberta Canada. i am in process, of buying one. Model 31AM63ED 500, with 208 cc engine, 6 forward speeds. Can anyone, tell/show me the width of it ? And, the quality of it; weaknesses. Thank-you, all !

That’s awesome! Fortunately I never needed chains, but glad they helped you!
That is a lot of snow! Great review! Enjoyed!
Thank you so much, I appreciate the feed back.
Take care!
I agree the old-fashioned shoot crank is better. If it's not broke don't fix it.
Excellent channel! I support you! NW IL? I use to love the Galena area.
Thanks!

Great review, snow is so beautiful my friend. big like

Snow is pretty, but sometimes it can be difficult to work with!

Sounds like the skids shoes need adjusted. Try an adjustment and see how it runs.
Looks like it does the job that you need it too with the snow you have. I bet that cart is difficult to get through heavy snow. Be well brother.

I’m no small engine repair guy, but... could be the carb is dirty or an air/vacuum leak somewhere.
I’d recommend have a tech look at it.

Great review an video. Thank You.
Thanks!
You didnt talk about the gas line! Which positions it should be in to start, run it out when you turn it off, etc.
I don’t run it out to shut if off, I actually choke, or flood the carb to shut it off.
Good review
